  1. Never know though. Once the stuff blows through, the wind may die.
  2. Can't hit, huh? OK. Again, when it comes to information anout injuries, the Brewers are just weird.
  3. I suspecta delay of any kind would mean the end of Gallardo's day. Not good.
  4. Anyone else get a thrill from watching the ball explode out of Gallardo's hand? I don't no what it is, since he is not necessarily a fire baller, but that thing just sort of appears out of nowhere.
  5. After 26 years, 71 days, 2 hours and 10 minutes, the wait is over.
  6. Based on the way he looks in that picture, he was a big Miller fan on Sunday.
  7. Obviously we wall want to see the brewers win the WS, but assuming that doesn't happen, or even just in advance of that happening, who are you pulling for in teh other series. As difficult as it is for me to believe I feel this way, for personal reasons, I am pulling for the Cubs, so my hope is that both the Brewers and Cubs advance. Not only does it guaranty one of my top 2 in the WS, but if the Brewers are going to lose before getting there, I want it to be to the best team in the NL, and the Cubs are certainly that. Likewise if they do manage a couple series wins, I don't want to hear anyone complaining that they got lucky (even though at the end of the day I'd be perfectly fine with them getting lucky). In the AL, although I think the Angels are perhaps the best team of them all, and I really like Ozzie Guillen, I think the Rays are a great story, so I'd love to see them get there. So in order of preference... 1. Brewers 2. Cubs 3. Rays 4. Angels 5. White Sox 6. Phillies 7. Dodgers 8. Red Sox
  8. Actually just saw on Braun's playoffs blog that it was Martini Mike's (Used to be the Velvet Room).
  9. I mean since there has been a playoff format. There were no playoffs back then.
  10. Am I the only one too old to know where they were?
  11. Was just thinking about this year's playoff teams...If you had told someone during Spring Training that this year's post-season would include the Brewers, and the Rays, but not the Yankees, not to mention both Chicago teams for the first time ever, they would have said you were nuts. Really crazy. I must say I will miss the Yankees. The Rays have a nice team, but I am not at all excited about the prospect of watching games being played at Tropicana Field instead of Yankee Stadium. I don't think there is a better scene in sports than a night game in October in Yankee Stadium.
  12. Could get a little break? Burrell sore back... Phillies outfielder Pat Burrell leaves practice because of discomfort in lower back PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Phillies outfielder Pat Burrell left Tuesday's workout because of discomfort in his lower back, a day before Philadelphia opens the NL playoffs. The Phillies and Milwaukee play Game 1 on Wednesday afternoon. Burrell will be checked before the game.
  13. MVP They: Pujols and Pedroia I: Pujols and Mauer Cy Young They: Lincecum and Rodriguez I: Dempster (Licecum probably more deserving, but Dempster would get my vote) and Rodriguez
  14. Well, the comments coming from Sheets and the brewers make it sound rather minor - from a career perspective. Just requires time off apparently. Obviously there are several million reasons for them to position it as such, but obviously any team offering big dough will want to examine hime, etc., so I suppose thsi is probably all true, but when it comes to injuries, I find the Brewers are just weird. Sheets underwent another MRI scan on Monday in Milwaukee that revealed further tearing of the flexor mass, a muscle that helps stabilize the elbow. The tear was originally revealed in an MRI in late August or early September, after Sheets first felt pain in an Aug. 26 start against the Cardinals. For a time, he was able to pitch through the injury.... "I'm going to keep pushing like it's series-to-series," Sheets said. "But I don't know if that's realistic... "We went aggressive at it," Sheets added. "I tried acupuncture, I tried massage. We tried everything. I tried it, and it didn't work." ...That's true, according to Ash, who said Sheets' elbow will heal with time. With Game 1 of the NLDS set for Wednesday, the Brewers just don't have that luxury. "It's a very easy heal -- it just takes time," Ash said. "Short-term, it's not good," Sheets said. "Long-term [estimate] would be fine. I was glad it wasn't something that it's short- and long-term. ...
  15. Plus, he has never lost a post-season series (6-0). So, we got that goin' for us.
  16. This is what should happen, and in all liklihood will happen (and if Kenny Williams wants to get rid of Ozzie Guillen before then, that'd work fine for me). However, if lightening should strike, and we are still playing a couple weeks from now, it won't. That said, I think a Dale Sveum contract is a price I would be willing to pay to still be playing a couple weeks from now.
  17. This is the profession he chose, and Managers are hired to be fired. I do feel bad for him that he didn't get the opportunity to see if he could finish what he started this year, and worked for for 6 years. But, short of that, that's the way it goes. I think he can and will walk with his head held high that he gave everything he could. He wanted desperately to bring a winner here, and while he wasn't on the field yesterday, in many he ways he did that. You heard that in the comments of Melvin and others, and I think they were sincere.
  18. I just randomly picked this thread to put this in, because this guy deserves some love. He came up absolutely massive this last week (yesterday and Thursday in particular), by doing the things he was brought here to do. He didn't necessarily deliver the big blows, but if he didn't do what he did, the big blows may never have happened. If for instance, Bill Hall were out there in the same situations, I'm not sure we aren't saying very different things around here today.
  19. This is my understanding as well. Lamb not a big deal, but losing Coffey would be a huge blow.
  20. So then is it also safe to say that Lamb can be on, in place of say Kapler or Branyan? If yes, I would say the only open question is Lamb vs Dillon. I'd probably pick Lamb. Or, given the situation, maybe you bring another pitcher -DeFelice perhaps.
  21. Must have: CC Gallardo Suppan Bush Villanueva McClung Torres Coffey (assuming this can be done) Gagne Mota Shouse Fielder Durham Hardy Counsell Weeks Braun Cameron Hart Kendall Rivera Hall Gwynn (seems odd, but he's our only other OF. Speed in a pinch runner situation as well) That's 23. I'd probably then add Stetter and My Clam if possible (Dillon of not). I believe you can adjust this on a series to series basis. So who knows, if there is a NLCS to worry about, maybe guys like Sheets, Brnayan, even Kapler could be added then.
