Kind of feels like the writing has been on the wall for the better part of a year that if there were talks they weren't going to result in a deal with Turang. I don't think he's going anywhere soon but I also don't think he'll sign an extension in Milwaukee.
True that they value defense, but Made's bat is unique in the Brewers MiLB system. Which doesn't mean they won't move him off SS now that Pratt is likely to remain with the Brewers.
It's honestly going to be a little fascinating to watch the Brewers manage their infield depth the next 24 months. I like Pratt, but this is a little jaw dropping. If I had to bet on an MLB contract and extension for a position player it would have been on Made. This doesn't rule that out by any stretch of the imagination, although I do find myself wondering if Pratt was the first of their SS in the pipeline to get an MLB extension offer.
I get that if Quero is on the roster he's going to play and getting him reps is important, but I still don't think starting Quero with a rookie pitcher in his first start since joining a new club set either of them up for success.
I was very surprised by the lack of challenge to that pitch call in the 9th as well. Not sure why you wouldn't to be honest but maybe there are things about the system/rule I still don't understand.
True, but one move fits what the Brewers have been doing for 20 years. The other doesn't. I personally gave up on being bothered by Brewers personnel decisions right around when Fielder left but I'm not remotely surprised that the reaction to Durbin going out was more intense than Freddy going out. We're used to losing guys like Freddy. We're not used to losing undervalued hustle guys with years of control and a cheap contract.
That said, I get the Durbin move. Decent chance his value was as high as it was ever going to be on the trade market.
