  1. If I'm an opposing GM, I want an immediate blood analysis and urinalysis on Braun.
  2. Don't look now, the Nats are hot, and are within 1/2 game of the Marlins.
  3. There's no way anyone but Braun will win this award, unless Braun gets hurt. Braun was overtaking Pence in every stat, even before Pence got hurt, and now none of them will even be close. Add that to the fact that Braun's team is in the race, while Houston is eyeing draft picks....this is not a contest.
  4. Chris, your outlook is a bit more harsh than my own in this case, but that was well-written. Trading prospects is playing with fire, but at times, so is not trading prospects. I hope we never look back on a trade and see that Wickman scenario you presented. Thanks for your effort on this.
  5. Did you get a look at Bud Selig when that happened....zero reaction, just stood up, no applause, no real emotion at all.
  6. The DBacks also got Joe Kennedy on a waiver claim. Cirillo, Kim and Kennedy - very interesting.
  7. Oh man, I'm having a moment. I'm burning my weekend dealing with work issues because someone else dropped the ball and cannot be reached. Evidently, a 3rd party promised some things to one of my clients, then let things slide, so now I'm busting it, trying to fill in the blanks... NOW.
  8. Thanks, CBF, it's a good topic, but it is indeed posted here. http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?t=6917/t/Baseball-America-Best-Tools.html
  9. I will always love the Mets, at least for the rest of the weekend.
  10. Congratulations!
  11. Thanks again, to Pedro, for graciously giving away his 4 tickets to tonight's game. I deleted the thread, to stop folks from entering, as the winners had already been chosen. Pedro does this from time to time, which I think is just awesome! The seats are great, but that's hardly the point. I think it would be fun if those who win his tickets at these times gave the rest of us a report the following day. Tell us how you enjoyed the game, if you spent time in the .300 Club, etc. I think we could have a lot of fun with it. Congrats to those of you who won today.
  12. Intentionally walking Delgado to face Marlon Anderson...that sure wouldn't have worked in Milwaukee.
  13. I'm not sure if greenies were an issue in Milwaukee, but I would assume that they were. There is no question that some fine white powder made its way around during that era.
  14. I can't remember now if it was John Henry or Jeffrey Loria, one of them owned a small stake in the Yankees, prior to buying a team.
  15. Thanks, jchris, for loaning me the book, it got here today. Not bugging me!
  16. The fire I posted pictures of was started by someone flicking a cigarette butt into dry grass...that fire is now within 7 miles of my friend's house, and moving his way. How can people be so incomprehensibly stupid?
  17. I'm sure Parra will be shut down fairly soon, but I sure like what he's shown so far at the MLB level. This off-season, I think one starter will be dealt away, with an open competition for rotation spots next spring. Manny will get his shot. Expectations are going to be very high for next year, I think the team will keep as much pitching depth as possible, and there could very well be some short leashes.
  18. http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa319/toddecopp/forestfiretwo.jpg http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa319/toddecopp/forestfireone.jpg These were taken just less than 48 hours ago. At this point, 2500 acres were burning, as of this morning, 10,000 acres are burning, which has caused the closing of the Missoula Airport- pilots can't see through the smoke. The bottom photo shows how brown and dry the grass is out there, as I walked, I could hear it crunching under my feet like snow. I pushed on the grass with my hand - it broke. Missoula has topped 100 degrees 18 times this year, which breaks the prior record by far, the scary part is, August is usually the hottest month for them.
  19. I got Pedro's tickets the last time he did this, so I'll stay out this time, but I wanted to say I think it's awesome that you're doing this. -Todd
  20. I think Rickie to AAA makes all the sense in the world right now, but I had hoped Dessens would never pitch for the Brewers again. Don't get me wrong, I'm rooting for him now that he's here....but I expect nothing good to come of it.
  21. What a sociological experiment! I completely agree, I'm amazed by some of the reactions to this, but I'm also glad to see them, it's nice to know so many people are so passionate about the Brewers, and this site. I was out for most of the night, just getting home from a business trip to Montana. I was able to see the game from the 8th inning on, I didn't log on here until the game had ended. Looks like a missed quite a show.
  22. How about this for a wrinkle? Cordero, Gwynn and Jackson for Gagne. The Rangers can still get their two picks when Cordero walks, or move him right on through to one of the other teams, while adding a young arm and Gwynn.

  24. Here's the article Olney was referencing, it doesn't mention the Brewers, or what their role was really, but he said the other team was Milwaukee in his blog. It does say Hideki Okajima was in the deal somehow. www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2007/07/29/dye_has_tools_sox_need/
