  1. Corey Miller, Round 16, is pitching for the Orleans Firebirds, in the Cape Cod League.
  2. TwoLive, I'd still rank Roache's power ahead of Denson's myself, Roache hit 'em in college, Denson hasn't played above high school. I'd put Morris ahead of Coulter too, basically for the same reason, Coulter is trying to find his way in the low end, Morris is trying to prove he's ready for the highest level.
  3. 82, I don't think you're crazy at all. I think the Brewers took some good chances on some kids, and now they've signed a few of them. The draft will confuse some people, in other sports a late round pick is a late round pick, in baseball, now more than ever, guys with early round talent are slipping because of the slotting process. You watch, in a few years we'll see 20th round guys succeed while 8th rounders fail.
  4. Garrett Cooper with two homers in his pro debut...get him to Milwaukee!
  5. Garrett Cooper homered on the first pitch he saw as a pro, he hit the RF foul pole. brwrsfan, I'm sure the team intends to sign Johnson if they can, he's definitely worth having, but I have no idea if they have the cash for it.
  6. 82, that is so cool...he was the next one I was really hoping for. I got the sense people thought he wouldn't sign when he was picked. I would love to add the 40th Round Pick too, but in tweeting with him, I really get the sense that he'll go to college.
  7. Quote from Charles Leblanc's mother... "The whole family lived strong emotions. We're on a cloud. Charles was very happy, but he remains humble, both feet on the ground. He sees this as another step in his career, "said his mother Evelyn Boudreau. "He expects a contract offer by the Brewers on July 9. If not received, he will become a free agent, "
  8. In College World Series, and thus, not able to sign yet...Hobbs Johnson and Ryan Deeter. Playing in a summer league, and thus, not pressed to sign immediately...Josh Matheson and Johnny Davis. Already stated they won't sign...Ryan Yarbrough, Nick Eicholtz, and JaVon Shelby. Publicly stated they haven't decided yet...Ky Parrott and Kenny Meimerstorf. Thus, the most likely to sign next...Trevor Seidenberger, Luis Aviles, Charles Leblanc, Jesse Travis. There are no college seniors left unsigned, so we may be getting near the end of the list of signees.
  9. All of this is why the draft still needs a lot of work. If I could sign one player left on this list, it would be Denson, but that whole conversation is ridiculous. If these kids won't sign right now, which plenty of kids that were drafted by every team won't, then why were they even in this draft?
  10. If we have the pieces, any discussion with the Tigers should be for Castellanos.
  11. Round 40, Kenny Meimerstorf, will play in Arizona...still undecided on whether it will be for the Brewers, or the U of A.
  12. I don't know if this means he ultimately will, or will not sign, but Round 22, Johnny Davis, just started playing for the Bluefield Jays, in West Virginia.
  13. A lot of the new draft picks have been tweeting about their assignments in recent days. Neuhaus and Uhen made mention of cockroaches in their apartment, while pleading with Williams to hurry up and get out to AZ.
  14. Segura could handle the leadoff spot easily, the question is, can Logan Schafer handle the 2 spot? Defensively, and on the bases, the Brewers wouldn't lose much, if anything, going from Aoki to Schafer, but Schafer isn't likely to hit as well as Aoki. If Schafer can hit "well enough", I'm sure there's a young pitcher out there who could improve the team enough on the mound to make it a deal worth doing. With Braun out and Schafer getting playing time, I would have to think the team is watching closely for this very reason. Aoki is a great fit, but, "you have to give something to get something", and he's over 30, with a possible replacement already on the roster.
  15. Tyler started the second game of a doubleheader last night, in the rain. Tyler wound up warming up three times, then he broke four bats, all of which went for base hits, and he says he had, "The worst umpire I've ever seen in my life" behind the plate. After all the stops and starts, he was done after three innings. The opposing coach came and told him that's the worst luck he's likely to ever have on the mound.
  16. I think the Brewers should be willing to listen on all of the players you listed, as well as K-Rod, Henderson, Gonzalez and Gorzelanny, if they can get some young talent, they should do it. Don't expect too much though, there's no way they'll move that many players in such a short window. They'll make a deal somewhere, but I wouldn't expect a complete overhaul.
  17. JaVon Shelby, Round 37, will not sign.
  18. Tyler Alexander, Round 27, has signed.
  19. Ryan Yarbrough, Round 20, will return to school.
  20. Which outfielder would you recall to replace Braun on the roster? Gindl was a late scratch tonight, I don't know if that's coincidence or not.
  21. Scooter with his first MLB home run....
  22. 1. Jimmy Nelson - More people have noticed him, but I still think he's better than he gets credit for. 2. Orlando Arcia - The best development in the farm system this year - Arcia's complete return from injury. 3. Tyrone Taylor - Not just skills, the numbers are coming now too. 4. Mitch Haniger - He's this high, because he's a safe bet to succeed. He's a ballplayer. 5. Johnny Hellweg - You can't deny the arm. Control? Oh please, oh please... 6. Hunter Morris - He's limited, but he's also skilled. 7. Taylor Jungmann - He knows how to pitch, the question is, can he pile up all those ground balls at the MLB level? 8. Victor Roache - I have concerns here, but the power potential is obvious. 9. Tyler Thornburg - He's convincing me he belongs in the bullpen, but he could be very good out there. 10. Scooter Gennett - He'll be a fan favorite, who will help his club as a league average type. He'll start, but only for a few years. 11. Ariel Pena - He's a different pitcher, but he reminds me of Hellweg. The talent is there to succeed, if the control is. 12. Jed Bradley - I was going to put him behind the top picks of '13, but I decided not to completely hammer him. 13. Clint Coulter - He's not a catcher, move him, so he can become a hitter. 14. Devin Williams - He's just a baby in baseball terms, a lot could go wrong, but a lot could go right! 15. Tucker Neuhaus - He's had a lot to deal with in the last year, he'll be easy to root for. 16. Hiram Burgos - I put him here because he shouldn't be forgotten. Margin for error is small, but he's a prospect. 17. Drew Gagnon - Consistency would be nice. 18. David Goforth - Solid, not spectacular, but he's getting guys out. 19. Brooks Hall - I like him, but I could see him sliding right back down the pole. 20. Khris Davis - He's in an almost impossible situation. He needs a trade. 21. Jorge Lopez - I'm not a believer, but it's a live arm, so you never know. 22. Caleb Gindl - He may have a future in Milwaukee as a 4th OF, but I think his opportunity may come with another organization. 23. Michael Reed - He's easy to overlook on that roster, but he can play. 24. Josh Prince - He may have a future as a MLB utility man. 25. Damien Magnifico - I have a feeling he'll fail at the higher levels, but his velocity says there's always a chance.
  23. Yes, basically, I get why people don't love Jungmann, but I think he deserves more credit than some give him. Is he a guy who will fail at the highest level because he can't miss bats, or is he a guy who will succeed with low K totals? We don't know yet, but he's got some talent. Williams was a great pick, and his ceiling is higher than Jungmann's, but he's very young, and he hasn't pitched yet. I'll be 46 next month, I've seen a lot of great prospects come and go, it takes a truly rare talent to get me to debut a kid higher than a guy who's a few levels in. On physical skills, at draft time, Jed Bradley should be in Nashville right now, but he's still in Brevard County...I'll put the kid ahead of Bradley right away, because Bradley hasn't seized his opportunity yet. At the start of the season, Arcia and Taylor had to prove it on the field, they're doing exactly that, and I hope these two new kids do the same.
