  1. 5 or 6 called Ks last night on the Brewers, lots could have gone the other way, and no yipping - 1st called K on Gwynn and he starts whining. Sit down and shut up.
  2. I'm feeling it tonight. My 0-11 streak at Petco will end. Only good thing about last night was the Fear The Beer sign.
  3. That's 11 games I've seen the Brewers play at Petco and 11 games they've lost.
  4. Brewers outscored the O's 40-11 to start the 78 season. So not the total runs record but maybe the run differential record. Someone mentioned the 18-0 Patriot's Day game a while back. That might get relevant too.
  5. I remember listening to that Angels game back in 1990 on KMPC. The Angels had a 7-0 lead; Brewers tied it 7-7 in the 4th and went ahead 20-7 in the 5th. I was at the game where they had their previous record for runs scored, 19-8 against the Red Sox in Fenway on Memorial Day 1982 (I think). Also remember watching the Brewers get 7 against the Angels in the top of the 1st about 20 years ago - I think that was their record for runs in the top of the 1st at the time.
  6. Thanks Topper; the Braun stats are helpful although you still need more info to conclude how much a sacrifice increases the chances of scoring 1 run if Braun comes up next as compared to the overall 13% average. I wonder what the sample size is for innings with a guy on 2d and 0 out and no sac ahead of Braun vs. innings with a guy on 2d and 0 out and a sac ahead of Braun. And then you'd have to decide how to treat situations where the batter ahead of him is trying to advance the runner by hitting to the right side. Maybe that would be slicing and dicing too much. On the SF in the 9th of the 1st game, I guess I didn't focus on that b/c in the 9th down 3 that's a fail, not a productive run-scoring out (or hit). And even if you count it it makes him 1-3 on the year, not 1-2.
  7. What's Braun's success rate with a runner on 3d and less than 2 outs? I may be biased since he's already 0-2 this year but I wouldn't be surprised if it's less than average. And he's got to be better than average in getting RISPs in, right? So I bet the odds of scoring a run by sacrificing with a runner on 2d and 0 out increase less than 13% (if at all) if Braun is the one coming up next. The debate might be moot anyway since we don't know if Macha called the SB.
  8. Hawing I got it by getting the mlb/Giants broadcast, then clicking the drop down menu that's in the middle of the media player and clicking on WTMJ.
  9. I'm able to get Ueck/TMJ on the internet through mlb.com. And my 1:45 is continuing! Sweet.
  10. All The King's Men. Loved it. Even some Raymond Chandlerish touches in there.
  11. Solstice was 17:47 GMT/UTC/Zulu which is 11:47 am CST.
  12. Sorry it is streaming at greenbayphoenix.com for $4.99, not Big10 network.
  13. No TV, game is available on video only streaming online at the Big 10 Network website for $2.99. This is either the last or next to last non-televised game this season.
  14. Thanks hawing. I figured I might have missed one. Yes it was the overhead picture of Penney. I see what you mean. http://us.mg201.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?fid=Sent&mid=1_36158_AGzHjkQAATJMSxl%2FmwoUk2sBKvg&pid=2&tnef=&YY=1259962482099&newid=1&clean=0&inline=1 ">
  15. The photo of Leuer reminds me of the one in SI (Heaven Cent) of Penney being mobbed after they beat Illinois for the first outright Big 10 title in 50+ years. I think this is the 1st time they've stormed since then. This is probably one of the top 2 or 3 home wins in memory. Once every 6 years or so? I think the kids have it in perspective. It's also a nice tribute to the other team. I really got a kick out of the Purdue, Indiana (!) and Michigan State (!!) fans rushing the court after they beat Wisconsin when Bucky was ranked high.
  16. In the cabin scene in Parks & Rec tonight about 6 minutes in check out the college football game playing in the background. Lee Evans? Or Maurice Moore?
  17. Jeffrey Meier Joe Mauer Mark Langston to Tino Martinez The Yankees get every bad call in the post-season. Would be nice to see at least one go against them sometime. Well thank god for Nick Swisher. As Billy Beane says he's way better than Prince.
  18. It is interesting listening to Uecker when they play the Cardinals. He got a series ring with them and is as old school as they come so I doubt he has an axe to grind. But he sounds like he's had it with all the sanctimony. On the pine tar whining: "I guess if Smolz can't get it over and Arroyo can there must be something wrong if you're the Cardinals." "Dusty Baker said where I come from if you accuse someone of cheating you better be able to back it up. We didn't hear anything yesterday." When Pujols grounds out after they booed Prince on a groundout: "Pujols with a light jog down to first; they aren't booing that." A nice tweak at the end of Friday's game: "Some changes now in the 9th inning. Adam Wainwright is in the parking lot." In the first series in May when Wellemeyer was getting bombed in the 1st: "Molina now out to talk with Wellemeyer. He's telling him to pull his shirt out of his pants right now." Interesting to see that Pujols set the season assist record for first basemen on Sunday. I wonder if that explains why he went too far to his right for grounders a couple times earlier in the series. He messed up both and both led to runs including the winning runs on Sat.
  19. I was also surprised Hoffman did so well this year. They were not choked up to see him leave in San Diego -- memories of Tony Gwynn's triple and the 3 runs he gave up to the Rockies in the playoff in 07 run deep. But though I admit it seemed like more he only blew 4 saves in 08 as well. I remember thinking when he signed that the Brewers probably had 4 or 5 relievers that blew more than 4 saves in 08. When he came back earlier this year he immediately made the whole bullpen better. A whole lot less late inning drama this year, not only the 9th but the 7th and 8th too. His 500th save was a big deal and his 600th likely will be too. I'm happy he's coming back.
  20. Plus Suppan batted in the top of the inning with 2 on and 1 out. Wow, Kendall again.
  21. Ueck going off on Manny again. I remember earlier in the season: "People say he's a nice guy. How can you do what he does and be a nice guy?"
  22. Gwynn has a HR tonight too. Stranger and stranger.
