  1. Yeah, when I was there I heard complaining among the employees regarding breaks. Employee 1: "Why does Bob get a break? I should be the one getting a break. I've been hear since 7:00" Employee 2: *Sarcastic tone* "Of course Bob gets a break. What would you expect." Employee 1: "Of course" I understand not being happy at work, but not in front of customers.
  2. Well, I'm sure the food was very good. Oh..and the 26 World Championships might have helped too.
  3. This is an age old discussion, but baseball can not compete with football not just because of the perceived pace of the respective games (I will always argue that there is much more action in baseball if you really understand the game), but because football is a once a week event. I believe if you were to take any of the major sports and just have one game every week and pare down the schedule to 16 games, the popularity of that sport would increase 10 fold. People in Wisconsin are very sociable. If they can't go to the game, they like to go to bars and watch games with groups of people. Football lends itself to that social athmosphere more than baseball. Again, the once a week, 16 game schedule has a lot to do with that. If you have been to both Brewers and Packers games, then you understand. Being at a Packer game is more like being at a giant tailgate party while a sporting event is going on. Everyone acts like they know one another. A lot of Wisconsinites really get into that (I'm not really one of them).
  4. I'll never understand why the owner of Real Chili doesn't: A. Accept credit cards B. Expand to other locations Not sure if that's my greatest idea EVER, but the George Webb on all college Campuses got me thinking about it.
  5. Born and raised in Milwaukee. Don't have a turning point or single game to point to, but I really fell hard for the Brewers in the mid to late 70's at the age of around 10 to 12 years old.
  6. I still love the much maligned McDonalds hamburger. I'm not much for hamburgers that are oversized, dripping grease, sauce dripping out the sides. I like the taste of McDonald's burgers and they are easy to eat, which is important when you are driving.
  7. I don't know, I got a lot of stuff for about $40. (2 tee shirts, 2 hats, 2 big bobble heads, pennant, pin). Normally, I would have probably paid over $100 for all those items. I was looking for stocking stuffers for St. Nicks's tomorrow for my 10 year old. Not a whole lot of small items that would fit in a stocking, but the big bobble heads ($5 each) will give him a couple of more presents to open on Christmas.
  8. I'm always amazed at how many people outside the Midwest confuse Milwaukee with Minneapolis/Minnesota and vice-versa. People either think the cities are really close to one another or think Milwaukee is in Minnesota or that Minneapolis is in Wisconsin. The conversations usually go something like this.. Non Midwesterner: "Where you from?" Me: "Milwaukee" NMW: "Oh - you a big Vikings fan?" Me: Uh no...I live in Wisconsin. or you tell them you live in Milwaukee and about 10 minutes into the conversation, they say "So, how do you like Minneapolis?" ...Huh?
  9. Depends on what games you are going to. For the most part tickets are readily available. However, tickets for Cubs games (especially at Ho-Ho Kam Park) can be scarse at times. SF and AZ games are popular also. It also depends on when you are going. We usually go the first or second week of ST. However, I believe it gets more crowded in mid to late March. Hope this helps somewhat.
  10. A lot of things are bugging me lately. The latest? Ocasionally Yahoo will have on their home page something like "25 most family friendly cities" or "25 Healthiest cities", etc. Then they have a link that states "see rankings". You click on the link and it does not take you to a list of rankings, it's just an article like this: http://news.yahoo.com/s/n...204/us_nm/us_rankings_usa
  11. I just noticed that Nickleback is playing at the Bradley Center in March. Like most people on this board, I can not stand Nickleback. However, my wife loves them and her birthday is on Dec 18th...and the tickets go on sale Dec 13th...and I know she would really love this gift...and she has always been a good sport about going to sporting events with me and to other events that were not necessarily fun for her....but yikes...I'm not sure I can do this. It would be bad enough if it was some private concert. I could stomach my way through it, but to also be surrounded by 1000's of people who for some inexplicable reason like Nickleback...I don't know. My wife knows I'm not a big fan of Nickleback, but I don't think she really realizes how much I hate them. I'm not sure how I can take her and disguise my pain enough so that it does not ruin her good time. Maybe I can just volunteer to go on beer runs during the concert.
  12. I know there some punch lines there somewhere, but even if I could think of them, I'm not sure they would be appropriate.
  13. Yeah, I was hoping the same thing, but then I read this (3rd article down): http://texball.blogspot.com/ Also, a lot of threads about the lineup changes on XM MLB Homeplate here: http://www.xmfan.com/viewforum.php?f=39
  14. If I recall correctly, the brunt of the snow that fell that winter happened in December.
  15. You should be banned from the site for even suggesting that.
  16. I know some of you subscribe to XM and listen to Home Plate 175. It appears they are shaking up some things there as a result of the merger. I frequently liked to listen to Baseball this AM with Buck Martinez and Mark Patrick. I thought they worked well together. It appears they did not renew Patrick's contract and I believe Martinez was moved to a later morning show. This morning they had Holden Kushner and Jim Duquette as hosts. I don't really like Holden Kushner. He sounds like a typical big market announcer. I also noticed that Ripken Baseball seems to have disapeared along with several other programing changes including the end of rebroadcasting classic games. I'm concerned that this might be the beginning of the end for the Home Plate channel on XM.
  17. This is one of those storms where the lake effect snow is actually effecting the inland counties more than the counties by the lake. Unless you watch the weather or look at a radar it's a little hard to explain. The weather comes off the lake north of Milwaukee and streams inland mostly effecting counties like Waukesha. Also, it's warmer near the lake and there is higher water content in the snow there. It's melting more as it hits the ground. edit: this radar picture illustrates what I'm talking about: http://images.yuku.com/image/gif/a6f351ec95cb7b7cfc6097f11c93fa2d8f79a79.gif
  18. I'll pretty much ditto what hawing stated. Also, if you sit in front of the press box (sections 216 and 217 - 217 is family section), you get the A/C from the press box, which is really a nice bonus at times. Our seats are in the middle of the last row of 217..which is also nice since we never get bothered by people coming or going from the row and when we need to leave our seats, we just climb over the back.

  20. He is by far my favorite Brewer announcer. I would hate to see him go.
  21. I wonder what "wbc at Brewers" is on March 5th? I'm assuming that stands for World Baseball Classic...but I was unware of any games or activities at Maryvale?
  22. Ok, for whatever reason, I'm a little obsessed with this video. Try calling the number at the bottom of their web page 414-688-7035. Milwaukee #1 export: Flax Seed Stay out of Sector 21! Working....Hammers...Sweating...Power....Circuits....Review....Verify....Bonus?....Under And the song at the end....Bubblegum Millennium..Do you want this nightlife? Sorry...I actually think it's pretty funny.

  24. Also, when I watched the first 30 seconds of the video, the first think that hit me was that none of the scenes they are showing are in Milwaukee.
  25. I know FTJ posted a link to this chart earlier. However, I was looking at the 6 year gas prices this morning and noticed that they have not been this low in Milwaukee since December of 2004. http://images.yuku.com/image/bmp/1e425599d27e6fb29cb114661b045c5ae4ef85a.bmp
