  1. The web site is extremely informative.
  2. To each their own. That cold open was a good example of the show going downhill, for me. What's funny about Steve Carrell screaming No six times? I don't know how to explain why my wife and I both found that really funny...we just did. It's like asking someone who likes oranges.."what's so good about oranges?". Like you said, to each their own. It would be interesting to see some sort of study done about people's taste in comedy, or what certain people find to be funny. Does it have something to do with the way you were brought up? Is it some gene or chemical in the brain? For example, in the "10 funniest comedies" thread, I have a very hard time understanding anyone's sense of humor who does not include Seinfeld in their top 10 or that does not think it's funny. Not to go way off on a tangent..and maybe it's just me, but I think you can be good friends with someone who you don't share the same taste in music with, or movies, or other interests. However, I think it's very hard to ever really develop a close relationship to someone who has a different sense of humor than you have.
  3. I just went to the gaming store in the Grand Avenue mall (I forget the name...EBgames?). I started asking questions regarding Rock Band II for PS2. The guy told me that the individual game will be released December 22nd, but the bundle is already out? However, he said that they were already sold out and I could not reserve one? I was really unsure if this guy had any clue to what he was talking about and seemed more interested in checking out the female clientele than answering my questions. Anyone who has ever visited the Grand Avenue Mall can appreciate the wonderful service you get at their wide variety of shops. So, when I got back to work, I decided to call Game Stop out in Delafield. The guy I talked to seemed to be more knowledgeable and more willing to answer my questions. He stated that he believed RB2 for PS2 would be released on Dec 10th, although he admitted that he was not 100% sure of that. He also said that they canceled the RB2 bundle for PS2. He suggested that my best bet (and cheapest bet) would be to buy the original RB bundle for $110 and then I could purchase RB2 for $50 when it came out. Does this sound correct?
  4. I hope that's not her knuckleball grip!
  5. This thread has been very helpful. I didn't even realize that Guitar Hero had a drums option, or that RB2 would be available for PS2 on Dec 9th. However, after further research. I have seen other release dates listed (12/17 and 12/22). Which date is correct and where is the safest place to reserve a copy to ensure I get it before X-mas? Also, it appears the song list for RB2 is bigger than RB. Is this correct? Also, it sounds like it's more difficult or maybe impossible to add songs to the PS2 version. Researching prices, this is what I'm coming up with. Please let me know if these are about right or if you think I will be paying more or if you think I could get these things for cheaper. If I can get them cheaper...where? Remember these are all for PS2 RB2 - $50 Drums - $50 Guitar - $60 Microphone - $60 Is there any other accessories that you would recomend? My biggest worry is that I'm going to buy something that's not compatible with PS2 because I don't know what I'm doing. Where do all these things plug in on the PS2? There are only two control ports, but three "instruments" (Drums, Guitar, Microphone). Thanks for any help you can offer up.
  6. I thought the funniest part about last nights episode was the opening and Michael's reaction to seeing Toby again. My wife and I were cracking up at that.
  7. I also have a question. I'm clueless when it comes to this stuff.. My son has PS2. He would like Guitar Hero for Christmas. However, he also stated that we would really like Rock Band, but he didn't think it was available in a PS2 format. Is that correct? Also, is there anything about buying Guitar Hero that I should know about?
  8. I don't see that the show has changed that much from the first one or two seasons. I still find it very funny and enjoyable.
  9. 1. Seinfeld (agree with slobberknocker - large gap) 2. Curb Your Enthusiasm 3. All in the Family 4. Simpsons 5. Taxi 6. The Office 7. SNL 8. Cheers 9. News Radio 10. Letterman (the first 10-15 years) I have only caught a few episodes of "Arrested Development" and "It's Always Sunny in Philly", but I'm betting that if I rented some DVDs of these shows they would possibly crack my top 10 list. My honorable mentions would have to go to: "SCTV", "Monty Python", and "The Bob Newhart Show" Not really pure "comedies", but always had some pretty funny parts that I have to mention are "M*A*S*H" and "Northern Exposure"
  10. I believe he does that to ensure he's not tipping his pitches. Hitters and coaches can pick up on the slightest of glove movement when pitchers change their grip on the ball. So if he does the same exaggerated movement every time with his glove, it makes it more difficult to pick up on any grip change he may be doing.
  11. I'm surprised no one mentioned "Cops", because I know how much some people hate that show. Never understood why. I love that show - will never get sick of it. Seriously, How can you not enjoy watching some drunk, overly tattooed red-neck trying to explain to the police why he's walking down the middle of the street in woman's underwear. I mean come on! That's entertainment! Notice how none of this is in blue.
  12. It's funny, I was watching Letterman the other night and thinking about how different he is now than he was 15-20 years ago. I loved it when he use to go out on the street and goof on people. I'm not sure what Paul Schaefer's deal is. I don't know why he feels need to interject into just about everything Letterman says. It's almost like he's lampooning himself and the stereotype of talk show side-kicks.
  13. Actually, not that soon: http://www.tvsquad.com/20...oices-re-sign-a-new-deal/
  14. Seems like a relative bargain for the Cubs. Although, I guess one could question if Dempster could ever repeat a season like he just had.
  15. I think it is considering there has not been any news of any offers from other teams. If it's just the Yankees and the Brewers right now, are they waiting in hopes that some other teams submit offers? I really think that CC would like to avoid NY if possible and is hoping for a competitive offer from either the Angels or the Dodgers who are both rapped up in making offers for Texeira and Ramirez. I don't know exactly how these things work, but is there any chance that his agent would contact one of these teams and say "Hey, are you guys interested or what?" Also, was Melvin's initial offer his final offer? It sounds like he's expecting a counter-offer. If so, does that mean he's still has room to add a little more?
  16. I don't know about anyone else, but I kind of expected this to be just about done by now. I thought this whole thing would happen pretty quickly once other teams were able to submit offers. At least the impression that I got from Sabathia was that he didn't want it to be dragged out. At any rate, if the NY offer is true, it doesn't sound like he jumped on it right away. Any word of any offers from any other teams? Have they made a counter offer back to Milwaukee? If so are the Brewers mulling it over? There hasn't been a whole lot of noise regarding CC over the last 3 or 4 days.
  17. I don't mind so much the charge to get into the event, but I think charging for autographs on top of that at a team event like this is ridiculous. I'll never pay for an autograph, unless maybe it's a charity type event. At least the photos with players will be free. I think my son would rather have that anyways.
  18. "Deal or No Deal" (assuming it's still on - I don't even know) About the only shows that my wife and I watch together religiously are House, The Office, and The Apprentice. We also watch Curb your enthusiasm when it's on. We use to watch ER, but stopped watching that about 2 years ago (I kept falling asleep during the show..they basically ran out of realistic ideas). I think this is the last season of ER..right? I like Frank Caliendo (spl?), but yes, Frank TV is awful. Once in a while I catch him on one of the comedy channels on XM radio.....and for whatever reason, he's much funnier on radio. My wife and I watched "24" for the first time last year. I realize it's Hollywood...but it's a bit too dramatic and unrealistic for me. Jack gets around very quickly. According to the show, it appears that you can get anywhere in LA in less than 15 minutes. The whole concept of the show is based in it happening in real time, yet I think they do a poor job at it. For example, aside from how fast Jack gets from place to place, it's 6am in the morning, yet the shadows appear as if it's noon.
  19. I'm guessing your joking? We have always left our frozen meat on the counter (like our parents) while we are at work. Have eaten meat that has been thawed in this manner all my life. I have never gotten sick from it. We are not good at planning dinner 2 or 3 days out, so the fridge system doesn't work so well.
  20. Melvin's comments in the paper this morning were interesting. He was basically shocked at the NY offer. He didn't understand why they would offer them so much if the word is that the Brewers offered $100mil/5year.
  21. What happened to the "bad driving" thread from several months ago? I did a search for it, but came up empty. Did it get locked? Anyways, I had another to add to the list. People who don't know how to change lanes. They slow down to almost a stop in an attempt to find an opening when many times there is a big gap a car or two ahead of them that they could get into by just stepping on the gas a little bit. Also, in parking lots after a sports event, people who are not agressive about getting into the main exit lane, but instead wait back in hopes that someone will let them in.
  22. We have always owned a cat and I'll agree they are a gamble. We have had cats that pee all over the place and others that would never think of doing that. Some cat's hate people, others can't get enough attention. The cat we currently own is the best behaved, most friendly cat we have ever had. The day we brought it home, when it was a little kitten 8 years ago, it headed straight for the litter box downstairs. It's a black and white male. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I'm sure the next cat we get will also be a black and white male. I don't understand the cat owners that let their cats just roam the neighborhood. Why even have a cat? It's like calling the neighborhood rabbits your pets. Not to mention that these people seem to be completely unaware or, more likely, they do not care that many people do not like cats and do not want them roaming in their yards. We put our cat on a leash when it wants to go out. I'll never be a dog owner. I don't want dog poop all over my yard and I don't want to look for and pick up dog poop in my yard.. I don't want to take the dog for a walk. Not only would I feel obligated to clean up after it, but I'm not into taking walks when it's 5 degrees with 20 mph winds in the middle of January. I think people who don't clean up after their dogs when taking them for a walk are unbelievably inconsiderate of others (it's on the same level or worse than the people who throw their cigarette butts out the window when driving). Same for those who tie their dogs up outside and then let them bark it up for hours.
  23. That makes a lot of sense. I never really thought of it that way. edit: Although, I still think Marmol is the best option for their closer in the correct situation.
  24. Actually, I have never run across that argument before. I know I'm probably opening up a big can o' worms here but someone please explain why it a bad idea to use your best RP as a closer? I'm really hoping that this has nothing to do with some pitching stat that focuses on walks and HRs. I would argue that it's not about whether he's the "best" pitcher in the bullpen, but about what type of stuff the pitcher has. I definitley think that Marmol has the makeup of a closer.
  25. Thanks hawing, that's a much easier explainiation than what someone gave me before. The explaination I got was something like:
