  1. I've received this message occasionally with other channels on Time Warner. It usually states "Press A to retry". Most of the time, when I press A, the channel then comes in.
  2. Completely thought it was Janet Reno in the picture and thought you were being funny by referring to her as "him" .... then I read the other posts.
  3. The player union's argument against the salary cap has always been that it will slow down player salaries. So, this is what I propose: How about a salary cap that also guarantees that the player's share of the profits will remain at a certain percentage? I have no idea what the true numbers are, but lets say the players are guaranteed 50% of the profits. This would also require total revenue sharing, but let's say MLB total profits are $6 billion. So the players are guaranteed to get a total of $3 billion. The league would set a salary cap ($125 mil? $150 mil?, whatever). If the total league salary did not meet $3 bil, the difference would be paid to the players, pro-rated based on their respective salaries. The union then could not whine about deflation of player salaries. I'm sure this is oversimplified a little and require more legalize...but that would be the basic gist of it.
  4. Seeing that poster is kind of painful. I use to have that exact same poster. I got it back when it happened. Had it hanging on my bed room door. Of course now...I have no idea where it is. Probably was thrown out for some unexplainable reason. Uhhhgghh.
  5. I realize that the owners were found guilty of collusion in the past. However, I always wonder what the facts of the case were. Was it just circumstantial evidence. Were there taped conversations between owners? Were there other written communications? Did some owners admit to colluding? Or, was it purely based on the fact that baseball was making a ton of money and they were not sharing it accordingly with the player, therefore, by definition, that's collusion?
  6. I'm sure that eventually the players union will whine about collusion.
  7. I'm really not all that tech savvy and I know that Gateway is not one of your final two considerations. However, I saw this on Yahoo the other day regarding Best and Worst technology of 2008: http://tech.yahoo.com/blo...cwDOLZabNvoEXUvdzhtgazJV4 The Best Gateway MC7803u laptop - It has modest specs and average-to-good performance, but $1,000 flat gets you a gorgeous, 16-inch screen and a distinctive, classy chassis, complete with leather trim. It's altogether an excellent value and has all the features that virtually every user needs in a portable.
  8. Interesting, I wonder if they will add the NFL channel for XM subscribers. Up until now XM subscribers had to pay about $5 extra a month to get what they called "The best of Sirius" which I believe included the NFL channel.
  9. I'm watching Willy Wonka (Old version) last night with my 10 year old son. Every other commercial break they show an ExtenZe commercial. Not sure if anyone has ever seen these, but they are not nearly as subtle as Viagra or Cialis (if those are considered subtle). It's basically a guy and his wife talking about how much larger it makes him and how much more fun love making is. Who are the geniuses that think it's ok to run this commercial during Willy Wonka? It was uncomfortable enough with a 10 year old, I can only imagine parents watching it with slightly younger kids. Also, AMC running commercial every 8 minutes is ridiculous. I swear there is more commercial time than actual movie time.
  10. I know this is kind of the Billy Bean philosophy. Not sure I agree with it. I think much of Philly's success last year was due to the fact that they could shorten there games knowing that their closer was just about a lock. If fans truly feel that closers are a dime a dozen and that the Brewers should not make any big investments in that area, I hope they remember that when the chosen closer starts blowing saves. Be kind.
  11. I've heard this argument before and I somewhat agree with it. However, who's the Brewer's closer?
  12. When I first heard about some FA pitchers that the Brewers were looking at including R. Johnson and Smoltz, I thought meh. But, after looking closer at Johnson's and Smoltz's recent stats, other than the injury risk, I wouldn't mind having either of those guys in the rotation for the right price.
  13. You mean this guy?: http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/0e2258796a7c8f789a61b80a8a2a7da6a03bb3a.pjpg
  14. Actually, it's Adolph. Here's the caption to the picture: Heath Campbell, left, with his wife Deborah and son Adolph Hitler, 3, in Easton, Pa., Tuesday. The Campbells tried to buy a birthday cake for their son at a ShopRite supermarket in Greenwich, N.J., and were told that the store would not inscribe Happy Birthday Adolf Hitler on the cake. The Campbells also have two daughters, JoyceLynn Aryan Nation and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie.
  15. In case anyone is interested, here is what they look like: http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/17915f9c76f09e15654b33ffd0f0a84967d5694.pjpg Not sure why, but I was expecting the Dad to have a shaved head and possibly a swastika tatoo on his forehead.
  16. Yyaaayyy!!!We are about to surge ahead of last year's pace! http://images.yuku.com/image/x-png/0ad1589674f49b1b16398f9e653bdd966dbd970.x-png And for those of you in Madison: http://images.yuku.com/image/x-png/fde1569271fb941805ff51d318e2f7ccdbab2b2.x-png
  17. Yeah and for what it's worth, more is predicted for next week Tues: http://www.jsonline.com/news/wisconsin/36290039.html
  18. Actually, my own man-love for JJ Hardy drew me to purchase a replica jersey for myself, so unless she wants to be all weirdo-cutsie "Look, we haz the same jersey!", JJ may be off the table. He's all mine. Ok, well since it doesn't have to be a player who is currently on the roster, I offer up the obvious choice of Lenn Sakata. But if she doesn't want to be like every one else prancing around in their fancy Sakata jerseys, then I would suggest Babe Ruth. Just because it would be cool to see his name on the back of a Brewer jersey.
  19. JJ Hardy. I think there is some sort of law or ordinance in most WI counties regarding women and JJ Hardy jerseys. I mean come on, even without the law, I'm sure your gf thinks he's just dreamy, not to mention his stellar soap opera acting abilities.
  20. Yeah, funny, must be some sort of translation mix up, because I could have sworn that I heard Winter say something like "Why, in the name of all that's holy, do you continue to live in this climate?", but I can see how that could be easily confused with "enjoy your home and be awesome to each other".
  21. Same thing with "These are a few of my favorite things".....When did this become a Christmas song? Completely different topic but a random thought...I'm thankful that the news clarified that throwing a shoe at someone in Iraq is considered a show of disrespect. Unlike here in the states where it is a sign of love and affection.
  22. Agreed, I have not heard anything about this outside of the Badger blog (or whatever it is).
  23. Yeah that helps. Hmm....Learn something new every day. Thanks FtJ
  24. If this has already been discussed I apologize, but I find it interesting that the main baseball journalist for the Journal/Sentinel does not understand the compensation pick concept. He talked about it in his blog on Friday like it was all news to him and I'm pretty sure he still didn't get it right. He mentions that Brewers are guaranteed the Yankees first round pick next year regardless of who else they sign. My understanding is that if they were to go out and get Tex, then Anaheim would get the #1 pick. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/36076584.html
  25. Burnie, thanks for the explaination.....but I still don't understand. So there are two Division I's?? I just assumed that any college team that was not a division I was either a Div II or III. What's the purpose of having 2 Division I's? Whizkid, thanks for the clarification on Div. II. Maybe I never hear about Div II because it seems like all the smaller colleges in WI are Div III.
