  1. Why? Because the Brewers have been so successful against him? I think he would be a good closer and it would not be a good thing for the Brewers or the rest of the division.
  2. I have asked this before. Someone was gracious enough to explain it to me. But I forgot and now I can't find the thread. How do you use quotes and add the "John Doe wrote:" to it? I do remember thinking that I would never remember the sequence and being surprised that it was not soemthing that was easier (like some icon or something I could just click on), not believing that everyone goes though this sequence of instructions when quoting someone. Thanks.
  3. Same issue here. Except with the Kilbourne avenue bridge downtown. It's several months overdue now. Now I'm hearing that it's supposed to be open to traffic before the end of the year...I'm not holding my breath. It's really a pain, especially when on my way home from work.
  4. I agree completely with this. I also remember reading something about this and how some managers take advantage of other teams "relaxed" approach early in the year.
  5. He has pitched long enough. He can pitch no more. What really stinks is that I had him as a $1 keeper in my fantasy league. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  6. Sorry I'm late in responding to this. I know there has been some discussion regarding it and I even believe someone stated a win is worth more like $4.8 million. Huh? I'm not quite getting the math. Is this just per win period or per win over the "average" player at that position and is this true for all positions? What about pitchers? If it's true for pitchers than a 20 game winner should get about $90mil/yr or maybe $40 mil per year if your talking about wins over the "average" pitcher. I guess I'd like more insight into how this $4.5mil or $4.8mil per win number was calculated. Seems a bit high to me. I'm guessing part of the argument would be that a positions player's calculated "wins" is not the same as a pitcher's actual wins. At any rate the process seems somewhat arbitrary.
  7. Completely agree about brand and size. This is why I would have a hard time ordering shoes online (or just about any other clothes for that matter other than maybe a t-shirt or sweatshirt). Example. I always get the same size and brand (Dockers). of casual pants. It makes it easy for me. I never have to try them out..just go to Kohl's and pick them out. However, last time I was at Kohls. I wanted a pair of black pants. They didn't have the size I wanted in Dockers, so I tried a different brand, same size and didn't bother trying them on at the store (Croft and Barrow - I think?). They were 1-2 inches longer than the Dockers. I had to take them back.
  8. Not to be repetitive, but how many wins do you think Cameron could provide over Cabrera. Is that difference worth $9mil?
  9. Wow...I had no idea. I'm guessing that it's less than 3 years old (I purchased XM about 3 years ago).
  10. Yeah, we frequent Culvers a lot. It's a convienent place to go after a youth sporting event and my son's school has frequent fund rasing nights there. I use to really enjoy Culvers. I ate at the one at the Grand Ave in Milwaukee almost everyday for a while. I'm just sick of it now. When we go now, I can only eat about half of my meal. There's talk of a Sonic being put in at the new Shoppes of Fox River that is under construction on Sunset Drive in Waukesha. I'm somewhat excited about it, but I'm sure I'll eventually get sick of that as well if I eat there enough.
  11. Spring Training Online is starting to post some partial schedules for 2009 ST. If you scroll down on the left hand side and click on the teams and then click on the schedule link you can find them. They only have two scheduled games listed for the Brewers. However, if you click on other Cactus league teams you can see some of their partial schedules and games that they have scheduled against the Brewers...so you can start to piece together part of the Brewer's ST schedule if you would like to. I also noticed that the Brewers first ST game was mentioned on my season ticket renewal form. Can't remember who it was against though. edit: I just realized you can click on the "master schedule" at the bottom of the list of teams and get a calander of all the games for all the teams that are scheduled so far.
  12. I listened to it a little yesterday. Their ads and promotions make it sound like they really play an eclectic mix of songs. Not really. It's still just a bunch of songs that I've already heard a thousand times. Milwaukee radio is why I have XM. I used to listed to a station out of San Francisco (KFOG) online alot. They truely have an eclectic mix of music. Here is a link to some songs they have recently played: http://www.kfog.com/listen/justplayed.asp I would love to see Milwaukee get a station like this.
  13. I breezed through some of the comments in this thread. If this has already been mentioned, I apologize. I've never been the biggest Cameron fan. I understand that the moneyball stats guys seem to like him. I'm not familiar with many of the stats that get thrown around, so it's hard for me to argue against them. However, Cabrera is not Arb eligible yet...correct? It appears that the Brewers would save a ton of money with a Cabrera/Betemit or Cabrera/Kennedy or Cabrera/? for Cameron. How much more valuable in terms of wins is Cameron vs Cabrera? Wouldn't Cabrera/? + all the $ they save (and put towards other players) be more valuable than Cameron in terms of wins? Not to mention they would have these players for more than 1 year. It seems like a no-brainer to me.
  14. Yeah, I use Hotmail as well and I am curious about why gmail is so great too. I guess I don't get it. Maybe I'm not using my email the way others do. I use it to send and receive messages. It's not that complicated. How can one service be that much better than another, especially if they are both free.
  15. Melvin interviewed on MLB.com about CC and today's economic impact on the FA market. http://mlb.mlb.com/media/...o.jsp?mid=200811043663505

  17. My friends and I all went down to WI avenue after the Brewers won the AL pennant in 82. We were Juniors in HS. Now, maybe I was just too naive at the time to notice it, but I recall it being very celebratory with not a whole lot of rowdyness that I could see. A lot of hand slapping and yelling. We walked west on WI Avenue all the way from Van Buren to around 40th or 50th street. Although, I do want to say that I recall some reports of vandlism and arrests being made that were reported on the news the next day. If I'm not mistaken, I think someone may been killed after getting pinned between two cars or something like that. I still have the news papers from 82. Maybe I'll dig them out and take a look.
  18. I realize that Cameron would probably go for more in the FA market (which to me, points to the ludicrousy of player contracts in baseball). However, to me it seems the money could have been better spent. I know all the Money Ball stats guys just love this guy, but I thought OBP was a big stat for those guys. Cameron does not have a very good OBP and is not getting any younger. Although, is there something to CC being a big Cameron fan and this possibly being done to persuade CC to stay with the Brewers? If this helps that cause at all, then I'm all for it.
  19. Palladia This HD chanel popped up on Time Warner a couple of months ago (at least that's when I noticed it). I love it. Concerts, unplugged material, old footage (last night they had on some black and white Bob Dylan documentary type thing from the 60's). It kind of reminds me of MTV when they use to play music videos. Imagine that..playing music on Music TV. Then "Remote Control" and "The Real World" began airing and everything went downhill after that.
  20. They use to give season ticket holders a chance to play catch on the field (Maybe they still do for full season ticket holder - but they don't anymore for 20 game packs like they use to). I think you could choose 1 day from 3 or 4 possible dates. I assumed they stopped doing this because of wear and tear. When they did allow it, one person had to basically stand on the warning track with the other person on the outfield grass. I think the whole wear and tear fear is silly. The Brewers play 81 home games. Your going to tell me that another 3 or 4 days to allow season ticket holders to play catch will cause that much damage to the field? I play golf courses that get a steady stream of golfers walking up and down the fairways all day. The courses are kept in great shape and there is a ton more of land to take care of than what you have on a baseball field. I can't believe it would cost that much money to add a little extra care to the field after some college games and/or season ticket "play catch" promotions.
  21. I wouldn't consider the red stitches as being one of the Brewer's "colors". There is a baseball in their logo and the stitches of a baseball happen to be red.
  22. I'm sure this guy is a life long Phil's fan that lives and dies with every pitch. There is always that segment of the population that wants to find an excuse to turn what should be a fun, celebratory time into lawlessness and anarchy. Look at Madison's Halloween street party history as an example.
  23. Huh? Yeah, Bill Michaels, I'd much rather listen to you take phone calls from callers than listen to what Ken Macha himself has to say. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif
  24. I think we need an American sports fan base that doesn't have such a short attention span.
  25. It's crazy to be playing basketball 3 months into the baseball season. If the baseball playoffs are considered too long, then the basketball playoffs are a complete joke.
