  1. Supposedly Boston’s asking price for him is very high……..you aren’t going to get 3 years of control of Duran for 1 year of Peralta I don’t think. Seems to be probably a moot point…….no reports have showed the Brewers to be involved at all in talks for him…….while many other teams have been mentioned.
  2. Cubs have their right handed first base platoon option
  3. I also feel that Collin’s lack of defensive versatility played a role in the brewers willingness to move on from him. When you are a backup outfielder they want players who can play good defense at multiple positions……….run prevention is a core pillar for them.
  4. I think he was being facetious in the comparison to Braun……lol
  5. Joey Wiemer……designated for assignment……..
  6. Not to mention one is a gold glove caliber right fielder and one……..is a converted infielder who to his credit became an average left fielder. As was mentioned above…….I’m not overly confident that this trade will turn out to be a home run……but I’m also not too concerned that this will be one that fans will be regretting for years to come. It’s the kind of trade the brewers routinely make.
  7. My guess is the Brewers evaluators liked what he did last season in AAA. Maybe he made some changes……I don’t know. ……But clearly if they thought he was going to be another Joey Ortiz with the bat they wouldn’t have signed him. Obviously doesn’t mean they will be right but let’s give them at least the slightest benefit of the doubt on a very low risk signing. It’s been reported that it’s a split contract…….if it works people will be happy if it doesn’t he will be organizational depth…….no need to over think this. Collins was a nobody when they rescued him from the Rockies……no pedigree…….we will see how he does with the Royals…….
  8. Well considering the track record of “ the board” in reacting to trades we should all be ecstatic right now!
  9. I read today that it’s a split contract.
  10. Unfortunately you can’t guarantee a championship…….especially when you are the brewers and competing with the Dodgers. So would you rather have sustained success and a chance every year……or go for it in one season……miss ……and then suck for 5 years? Fans always say this but it’s never really true…….even if they won it……if they went into an extended rebuild fans would be ******** and moaning because they want them to be good again. Nobody wants to watch bad baseball…….especially not for multiple years…….attendance suffers……..people lose interest…….very bad for business. if you think being consistently really good in a market like this isn’t worth celebrating…..go ask Reds, Pirates, Marlins and Rockies fans if they would trade places with us……
  11. True but I think most of us would have said the same thing about Collin’s last year or Perkins a few years ago…….the reality is with these kind of signings you are just adding someone who has some qualities that the organization likes……..then you see how it plays out. It’s not going to stop them from doing anything………if there is one thing this organization has shown it’s they know what they are doing in finding value at the end of the roster.
  12. I was thinking of Berroa…..with them trading for Lockridge it isn’t in all likelihood going to be him unless a trade happens.
  13. Could very well be that they like him better than one of those guys .’….who could be gone at some point if they need a roster spot.
