  1. Having a unique skill set doesn't necessarily equate to value. Long drive champions have a unique skill set........ Jamie Dimon is more important to the success of JP Morgan then Strasburg is to the Nationals. If they replace him with a decent pitcher they lose what 3 or 4 more games? There are a lot of those guys. Again he's more like an actor.....people will come and see him.play .....he makes the movie better......but without the director none of it works. Everybody is replaceable.......
  2. "I didn't say average, because Strasburg is also not an average pitcher in his chosen field, and obviously with CEO's there is more to their compensation than straight salary. But, for example, JP Morgan's Jamie Dimon reportedly earned around $31 million in compensation in 2018; Netflix's Reed Hastings $31.5 million; Paypal's Daniel Schulman $37.8 million; T-Mobile's John Legere $66.5 million, so the amount earned by Strasburg is not out of line with compensation for other career fields of supposedly highly specialized talent. Jamie Dimon runs a company that has 230,000 employees and made 9 billion dollars last season Strasburg is really good at throwing a baseball..... I don't begrudge him to whatever the market will bear for his services but to compare his impact on the Nationals to a very good CEO is silly talk. I think a talented actor or musician is a better comparison.
  3. Fiscal restraint was fun while it lasted......lol
  4. I think it’s an important note. That it isn’t just a 3 batter minimum. It’s that or he finishes an inning. He could come in with 2 outs and only pitch to one batter. If he gets that batter out.......which hasn't always been easy fir Alex
  5. Brewers operated in the red last season according to TH Check out this article from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: With eight openings on the Brewers' 40-man roster, Stearns expects busy week at the winter meetings https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2019/12/06/brewers-david-stearns-has-roster-holes-fill-winter-meetings/4352163002/
  6. Jimmy also posted a good bye on twitter......sounds like he is moving on.
  7. Doesn't seem like trading from a weak farm system for a guy with 1 year of control is something Stearns would be real interested in.
  8. I think the Brewers gave Shaw every chance last season.....
  9. 39th overall pick sacrificed for 1 year of Claudio
  10. Kind of surprised he didn't get a major league deal some where but I guess without options it kind of makes things difficult when you're a marginal guy.
  11. Guerra was already leaked that he is gone. I hope they find away to bring Jimmy back on some sort of reduced deal.
  12. Who could still be traded. He could still beat out Urias and since Urias has options that is also a route they could take......or he could be a guy off the bench. Lots of off season left.
  13. Good luck to him. He finally got the long term deal he was looking for.
  14. This thread makes me happy that extensions aren't handed out by message board consensus....
