Since Hardy scored the tying run, in the inning Weeks got thrown out at third, that play made absolutely no difference in the game. It was obviously a very poor play but in this case it didn't hurt us at all.
I can already hear Ned after the game......"If you knew anything about baseball you would know that was just great pitching by um..... whats his name again?........."
You can't honestly think you are ever going to see "Cy Young caliber" from Gagne again. All you have to do is watch him pitch to see he doesn't have dominating stuff anymore.
As I said Sheets is determined to test the market. Can't blame either side here. Sheets probably would have been open to an offer in the off season but with his injury history Melvin was gun shy about approaching him with a significant offer. http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/default.aspx
Just out of curiosity what are Gagne's stats vs left handed hitters? At least Deflice can get righties out. Did anyone notice that the team started to play well as soon as Gagne went on the DL? I'm sure its just a coincidence...........................................
He doesn't want to sign an extension. He will go to free agency (like every pitcher does when they get this close)and see what he is worth on the open market. Enjoy him while you can because the only way he resigns with the Brew Crew is if we outbid a few big market teams. He may give us a small home town discount but not until he sees what the market is.
16 walks for the Crew in the 2 games but only 8 runs to show for it. Man our lack of clutch hitting is really frustrating sometimes. Nice to see the patience though.
