  1. Florida Dragonflies - winner. Interesting they are going with the generic "Florida" for the team's home designation.
  2. There are any number of reasons he repeated in Maryvale to begin the season - maybe they thought he could get more work in there. Or he was working on a new arm slot, or he was injured earlier this summer, etc. Anyway, here's an article from when he signed: http://www.therotundaonline.com/sports/myers-joins-milwaukee-brewers-post-mlb-draft-an-interview-with/article_a76748ec-2280-11e5-8f65-5306eb072156.html Degree in Physics! Edit: Here's another, a little more scouting info: http://longwoodlancers.com/news/2014/5/13/BB_0513140001.aspx Five years ago he was throwing in the low 90's with a good curveball: http://www.perfectgame.org/Players/Playerprofile.aspx?ID=240969
  3. It would be those 4. With a smile and a handshake.
  4. With Braun out and Nieuwenhuis in, I increase my prediction to 25 runs.
  5. Don't think the Brewers ask for a catcher back to replace Lucroy's spot on the roster, so I would scratch Perez from that proposal. They have Pina at AAA if Lucroy is traded. Replace Perez with Mejia, Sheffield with McKenzie, and Mathias with Hillman, and that's pretty close for Lucroy and Thornburg. Maybe add a few lottery tickets like Felix Tati and Jorma Rodriguez.
  6. Don't think a Lucroy deal gets done without one of those guys.
  7. Because D'Arnaud is the significant piece Alderson has decided to include himself in the trade. What grander font of baseball intelligence could you wish for?
  8. I don't understand what this means? Are they saying that Lucroy is the "significant piece" and teams better pony up, or are they saying that another team has made them a "significant offer" and you better put your best offer on the table right now or else you'll get left out? The latter. Or maybe "significant piece on the table" means that Stearns just bought a Desert Eagle .50 Cal and he literally has it on his table, and is cleaning it or something.
  9. One of my favorite Ueckerisms... Johnnie Walker Estrada.
  10. Elmore, Maldonado, Broxton, and Flores all in the same lineup? They're going to score like 20 runs today.
  11. Going off of MLB.com's final 2015 top 100: 10)Dansby Swanson (in December) 11)Trea Turner (in June, though he was infamously a PTBNL earlier) 19)Sean Newcomb (in November) 24)Jose Peraza (in December) 25)Manuel Margot (in November) 32)Brett Phillips (in July) 43)Mark Appel (in December) 49)Jeff Hoffman (in July) 51)Jake Thompson (in July) 54)Frankie Montas (in December) 55)Nick Williams (in July) 59)Jorge Alfaro (in July) 61)Aaron Blair (in December) 69)Touki Toussaint (in June) 74)Rob Kaminsky (in July) 76)Javier Guerra (in November) 79)Daniel Robertson (in January) 94)Keury Mella (in July) 98)Michael Fulmer (in July) So by my count, that's eight top 100 guys traded around the deadline last year.
  12. I assume the rationale is because Rule 4 (June) draft picks can't be traded (except for the competitive balance picks), MLB doesn't want teams skirting the rule by making selections ostensibly for someone else, and then trading the selection right away to that someone else. Why draft picks can't be traded is a whole other question.
  13. That's fair, but irrelevant in this case. The question was specifically about top 100 prospects.
  14. I just don't know if I see more than one top 100 guy (as currently ranked) coming back in the Lucroy trade. Maybe? Just going with the teams Crasnick listed yesterday: With the Indians that means 2 of these guys: Frazier, Zimmer, Aiken, Bradley, Sheffield With the Rangers that means 2 of these guys: Gallo, Brinson, Ortiz, Mendez With the Astros that means 2 of these guys: Bregman, Reed, Martes, Tucker, Paulino, Musgrove With the Mets that means both of: Rosario, Smith With the Red Sox that means 2 of these guys: Moncada, Benintendi, Devers, Kopech The Astros seem like the likeliest of the bunch to give up 2, but to me may be the unlikeliest to be interested in Lucroy.
  15. UMBrewer, as stated previously players selected in the most recent June draft cannot be traded right now.
  16. While it would suck to see one of our guys pitching for them, the Cardinals are seeking late-inning bullpen help.
  17. For those people bemoaning the performances in the Brewers' minor league system this year, I'm going to throw this out there. Systems with at least 16 players with an overall scouting grade of 50 or better, with 50 equating to a 2 WAR average major league regular: Padres (17) Brewers (16) Yankees (16) That's it. The Yankees only just got to 16 thanks to the Chapman trade, and the Brewers are likely to surpass the Padres by the end of the trading deadline. So while the Brewers' top end guys maybe haven't been performing as well as hoped, the system continues to boast arguably the most impressive MLB-caliber depth in all of baseball. There's also reason to believe some of those 50 guys could improve to 55 or 60 over time (with some of them falling off). I'm still extremely bullish on the farm system.
  18. Given Stearns' early proclivity to acquire younger pre-emergent talent, I wouldn't be surprised to see only one or two top 100 guys. Also difficult to believe it is still 4+ days until the deadline. Seems like it's been almost the trade deadline for a few weeks now.
  19. The 19th best prospect in the Ranger's organization? Probably not?
  20. The Rangers designated Matt Duffy to clear room - wouldn't be surprised to see the Brewers claim him (if he gets to them).
  21. The Braves just got a pretty good prospect for having two warm bodies on their pitching staff. So what on earth must Jeffress be worth?
  22. Yah, that's a pretty amazing return for two random dudes the Braves picked up for nothing.
