  1. Children on leashes.
  2. Might it be that Javier is on his way to Arizona or Helena? Seems kind of ridiculous to keep letting a 21 year old put up a 1000 OPS in the DSL.
  3. Here is your set list: 1. LCD Soundsystem: "45:03" 2. Isaac Hayes: "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" Done.
  4. The remainder of Alex Rios' contract could spell boondoggle for the Brewers unless they're sure he'll snap out of his two season long slide. If we offered Hardy, Lawrie, Taylor Green, Scarpetta and Brewer for Halladay and they countered with "oh, and here's Alex Rios too" I'd tell them "oh, here's Bill Hall too and there goes Taylor Green." The Brewers have the ammo to get Halladay, but do they want to partially eviscerate their farm system to get a guy whose arm might fall off 2 starts into his Brewers career? I dunno. Maybe.
  5. Josh Butler is on the DL with an intercostal sprain... he'll be out at least another few weeks. Tough luck timing, to be sure.
  6. It might just be that Koshansky is having the worst season of his minor league career and there's no good reason for him to be on the 40-man at this point. Cody pitched yesterday, so he wouldn't be available to pitch again until Saturday. Chase Wright has been ok, I guess. I'd like it if Heether were called up, but unless the corollary move is sending down Gamel, it's not going to happen, and doesn't do anything to answer who our next starting pitcher is. Edit: Nevermind, Wright was just put on the AAA DL. Nick Green replaced him on the AAA roster. Green is coming off some shoulder problems - would they want him in the big league rotation a few starts removed from being shut down for more than a month? Probably not.
  7. Is Michael Fiers the new Wooten?
  8. If the rotations hold, we should see Zach Braddock pitching in relief for Huntsville tonight, as well as Jake Odorizzi and Eric Arnett on the bump for Helena.
  9. The 27 year old age cutoff is something we might rethink - I think Heether is a prospect. The cutoff was originally instituted when the farm system stank and I had to have a good reason to keep older AAAA-type guys off the list.
  10. There was an Adam Heether mention in the Power 50. He's ineligible due to age. If the age constraint weren't there, he'd be somewhere in the low 20's, I imagine.
  11. Two of the four Power 50 editors (including myself) had Braddock ahead of Arnett. Braddock placed 4th, 6th, 9th and 10th while Arnett placed 4th, 6th, 7th and 8th. Arnett actually tied with Salome for 5th, but the tiebreaker went to Angel. Lucroy to Cain were all very close.
  12. Badda bing. Enjoy!
  13. It sucks something fierce to score 18 runs and lose by double digits. Epic pitching fail.
  14. Indeed, sir. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif If he tested positive again, could the Brewers loan him out to an independent league team and keep him as their property? This is just a mind-blowing face palm.
  15. With this post I am in no way bagging on Chris Cody - he's way outperformed what I thought he could do, and he keeps proving me wrong with the results. A quick promotion to AAA here and a plaudit from Ash there, Milwaukee obviously likes him. I noticed this just now, and it concerns me: K/9 by level A-: 8.5 A: 9.0 A+: 7.2 AA: 7.4 AAA: 3.8 There's not a strict downward pattern, but he's just not missing bats like he used to. I know K/9 shouldn't be used in a vacuum. It's just that a significant drop off in K rate usually results in a drop off in overall success. I hope he keeps up his success, I'm just leery about a guy that doesn't throw that hard, who is striking out fewer and fewer people.
  16. The team also misdiagnosed the elbow for a few years. Once Braddock's elbow has a few years of healthy mileage on it, there's no need to waste his stuff in the bullpen. He might end up pitching out of the pen to begin his major league career simply because he doesn't have the innings built up to start. But if he stays healthy for the next 2-3 years, there's no reason he shouldn't be worked into the rotation. That's wasting too much talent in the pen. He's truly a top tier pitcher when he's right.
  17. The meaning from this post. Comes in the second sentence.
  18. I think he's limited to the bullpen now simply because they won't allow him to throw more than 90-100 innings this year. If he stays healthy, it's not unrealistic to guess that he won't be able to throw 200 innings for another 4-5 years. He will spend a lot of time in the bullpen for the rest of the year, probably into next year. But he'll get action on a set schedule, and gradually build up the arm strength to be able to go 5+ innings every 5 days. Unless of course the Brewers envision him solely as a bullpen guy... which is difficult for me to believe. Granted he'd be a stud reliever, but Braddock has the potential to be a top of the rotation guy. I'm guessing the Brewers still think the endgame for Braddock is the rotation.
  19. Harold Reynolds once walked 81 times in a season. His self loathing must be through the roof.
  20. I can smell the first link report with all seven affiliates playing... and it smells delicious. This is the first time I have ever seen the AZL Brewers in first place.
  21. Currently, in the top 10 or so.
  22. If we want to be technically correct, Butler was actually transferred from Helena to Huntsville.
  23. A player is team property for six full seasons, if they are not added to the 40-man roster. Once they are added to the 40-man, they are team property until they have six full years of major league service time. So theoretically, a team could have control over a guy for 12-13+ years without ever extending his contract.
  24. Congrats to the Brevard County Manatees - Florida State League First Half North Division Champions!
