  1. Similar speculation from the Pirates TV crew, suggesting maybe JBJ’s days are numbered. (Stuck listening to them here in PA.) Might be a bit off, though. But a roster crunch is potentially looming.
  2. Necessary to make that move for 2021. Get right at AAA for the remainder of the season. Then hope for a much better 2022. Still potential in that bat.
  3. Strike out looking for Hiura after going up 3-0 in the count. Doesn’t matter for the game, but still ugh. Might be one of the last at bats in the majors for a while. Pirates announcers even mentioned it.
  4. Fully agree. A good breakout season at 27. Like to think he’s a fixture as at least the #4 outfielder for the next several seasons.
  5. Tyrone Taylor is doing everything he can to keep his spot. Superb numbers since the All-Star Break.
  6. Peterson will be the spot starter on the roster. But looking at his numbers this year (small sample size acknowledged) as a pinch hitter or substitute, they're not too good: 2021 PH - 12 PA .100 BA / .250 OBP / .100 SLG 2021 SUB - 19 PA .200 BA / .368 OBP / .400 SLG CAREER PH - 86 PA .197 BA / .291 OBP / .355 SLG Interestingly, it seems like Tyrone Taylor is developing a skill of being a pinch hitter: 2021 PH - 20 PA .357 BA / .500 OBP / .857 SLG [includes 1 2B; 2 HR; 3 BB; 4 SO; 2 HBP; 1 SF] CAREER PH - 30 PA .435 BA / .533 OBP / .870 SLG
  7. Really like the acquisition. Fills needs and makes the roster deeper. Also like the advantage that Escobar has as a switch-hitter. Add in a good clubhouse guy to the chemistry that Piña, Urias, and Adames have going right now, and that could pay off in more of those intangibles that playoff teams typically have. Still a chance to add one more bat, but I wouldn’t anticipate that. Definitely need to add at least one more high leverage reliever before the deadline.
  8. That Castellanos HBP in Cincinnati ended up being a bit more serious injury. Microfracture detected, leading to an IL trip: https://www.mlb.com/news/nick-castellanos-placed-on-il-with-right-wrist-injury
  9. A major sports championship once again in Milwaukee. Well deserved after waiting so long.
