  1. Smyly's numbers make it look like a potential night for offense. Would be nice if the Brewers had several good right handed batters. It's a very heavy lefty-hitting roster that hasn't produced much offense. The righty-hitters seemed to be worse coming into the season and haven't surpassed expectations so far.
  2. Vogelbach’s third strike fleetness + Reyes’ pinch running speed x Shaw’s double equals a run. And some insurance runs from Garcia!
  3. Good to get the series after having to listen to the Marlin announcers down here. Feel your pain. Had to watch the Philadelphia series with the Phillies announcers; then saw the Thursday game in person. Edit to add: That said, the Phillies and Nationals announcers are WAY better than the Pirates crew, which I also have to watch here in PA. That gets old being divisional games.
  4. Small sample size, but Lauer does look improved from last year. Getting strike outs, generally avoiding walks. If that holds, it’s a nice addition to the pitching staff.
  5. Still having difficulties getting the big hit with RISP on this road trip. Had a chance to grab hold of the game.
  6. Bettinger looks much better than his start against the Dodgers. Still needs to work on consistently placing the breaking ball where it needs to be versus major league hitters. But maybe some progress being shown.
  7. It’s the mirror image of the Dodgers series. Need an explosion of offense and a blowout win in Game 4. (Would also make being in the stadium nicer tomorrow!)
  8. Quick review of box scores shows the Brewers are 7-for-31 in RISP situations through nearly three games (.226). Phillies are 5-for-11 (.455). One of the stats of the series.
  9. Athletic play that may have cost two runs. Looked like Gregorius was right behind second base for a potential 6-3 double play. Saw that on the replay. Would have been tough to get out of the way completely, but maybe a bit lucky there too, I guess. Definitely. No knock on Romero’s play. Kept himself from being injured, also. But it’s just one of those baseball things with the outcome.
  10. Lefties with some good at bats versus Romero. Need at least one more bit of two-out magic this inning.
  11. Athletic play that may have cost two runs. Looked like Gregorius was right behind second base for a potential 6-3 double play.
  12. That’s a much more polite way of putting it than what bounced around my mind. The same replay that couldn’t “definitively” overturn Wong being called out on a stolen base a few days ago “definitively” overturns this call. Only a ground level camera could actually supply that, which wasn’t present. It’s past a complete joke now.
