  1. Top of the order coming to bat. Push across the winner this inning.
  2. Just too many batters on this roster with 3:1 K/BB ratios or worse. Even a 2:1 ratio would be a vast improvement.
  3. This lineup could truly use a Loretta and a Cirillo in it. A couple professional hitters might do some wonders.
  4. Nice poise by the rookie to draw a walk. Need to turn lead off runners into runs.
  5. Haden's given just about all you can ask from a long reliever. Time for the bats to pick up the pitching staff.
  6. A very inefficient scoreless inning by Guerra. Will be fortunate to go deeper than five innings at this rate.
  7. Three well struck balls to center field in that inning, but only one run. A bit unlucky that Shaw's liner didn't find the ground. Maybe a good sign for a possible big inning off of Hendricks. EDIT: Looks like most of us are thinking the same thing!
  8. He's done well this entire month. He had a 1.96 ERA before this start. Went 7 scoreless. I knew he'd be a rotation asset, maybe even top of rotation-ish. Suter has definitely nailed down the Anderson spot in the rotation, which could have turned into a black hole during this DL stint. Don't know if Suter is top of rotation quality, but I'd be plenty happy if he becomes this generation's Jamie Moyer.
  9. Two-run swing there: Baez hits the hanging slider out for a home run; Shaw hits a hanging curve for a long strike. Flop those two, and the game looks way different.
  10. Made out with the lead. 3-4-5 hitters up for us in the 8th; for them in the 9th. Get those insurance runs.
  11. Suter is dealing. Would be nice to get him a Davies-esque run support tonight.
  12. Brewers infield this year does turn some excellent double plays. Might have defensive problems as a whole, but that aspect seems not to be one.
  13. Cubs batters not liking Suter's quick pace and his current ability to hit his spots. Just keep dealing.
  14. Both are 28 and AAAA quality starting pitchers. Neither could retire Scherzer at the plate.
  15. Scherzer having a really good day at the plate, let alone on the mound.
  16. So which pitchers should be packing luggage for a flight from Colorado Springs to Milwaukee?
  17. Don't care for sending down Phillips either. Wanted to have him play CF tomorrow against Scherzer. Play a little matchup, keeping Brinson from the hard righties. Sort of a soft platoon with the two rookie CFs. Figured there would've been a reliever to send out, given the past performances and adding Swarzak to the bullpen staff.
  18. Like to see that homer from Brinson. Many more from you, Lewis.
  19. Tried to get another inning out of Nelson; ended up a bad choice. Lead off walk was a bad omen. Then the relievers perform self-immolation, other than the one guy who got a critical strikeout, who was then promptly lifted. If any possible aspect of bullpen management could go wrong in the 8th, it just about did tonight.
