  1. 0-for-7 with RISP, but still a chance to hold on for a win. Asking for near perfection from the bullpen. Let's see the good Knebel.
  2. Cishek at LF in the sun? Would love to see Thames hit a tracer out that way.
  3. After watching games or highlights, it seems that there is too much leeway given to Maddon and the Cubs players when disputing calls this whole season.
  4. Way too wasteful with RISP today. Poor situational hitting results all game long.
  5. Very effective 6 shutout innings from Chacín. Need the top of the order to pick up some runs in support.
  6. Is the Cubs roster just player-to-player better? If not, then the mental or whatever issue that the Brewers are having need to be figured out. It is more than frustrating to see the results in the season series so far. It might end up not only costing the division, but a playoff spot period.
  7. Self-immolation by a reliever is always entertaining. Might as well do it in front of a big crowd at home against the Cubs.
  8. Who would you have brought in? I completely assumed they were sticking with JJ another inning. He had a reasonably light 10th and his spot didn't come up. Probably thinking about saving Jeffress for any type of close game tomorrow. Not sure if Hader would be available. Knebel probably is.
  9. Getting Braun up with RISP in Philadelphia is a good situation.
  10. Good shutdown inning for Hader. That’s the way to follow up a 2-out grand slam from the offense.
  11. Has to feel good for Arcia to produce in his first opportunity back. Perfect timing for a 2-out hit.
  12. Lack of big hits today. Like the potential Jeffress/Hader bullpen combo, but a few runs to work with would have been nicer.
  13. ESB = Extra Special Bullpen "Counsell served another round of Stearns' ESB tonight." Mock up a beer label. Print on T-shirts. Profit.
  14. Interesting idea, but I doubt that it would happen. It's totally subjective, but the full-season Minor League schedule of 140 games seems to be just about perfect. The regular season runs from mid-April through the Labor Day weekend. Postseason is finished in mid-September, which is still a "Fall Classic" of sorts. I wouldn't mind moving back to a 154 game schedule. However, I'd imagine that even a shortened season would still run within the same current timeframe in order to add more days off. So weather would remain an issue and World Series games would still run up to Halloween.
  15. Great writeup as usual, Louis! It's always a bonus Spring highlight besides having Brewers baseball back. Basketball player turned MAC tight end: I'd love to see Tyler Conklin go from wearing maroon and gold to green and gold. Makes this Central Michigan alum proud whenever a Chippewa becomes a Packer; there's been a few of those in Green Bay's past.
  16. Lousy turn of events in the Top 9th. Defense was a killer. Inability of Barnes to put away two batters with two strikes didn’t help. That’s where we’ve seen Knebel usually succeed over the past season.
  17. A lot can be found at the Baseball Reference site. Batting stat splits are here: https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/split.cgi?t=b&team=MIL&year=2017 Scroll down for Bases Occupied and Clutch categories. Schedule and result breakdown stats are here: https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/MIL/2017-schedule-scores.shtml#all_win_loss Team record stats at various game situations are here: https://www.baseball-reference.com/play-index/inning_summary.cgi?year=2017&team_id=MIL
  18. It is bad. Not only can you virtually guarantee such a result, but the same is true when losing going into the 9th inning. The near-complete inability to pull out wins is shocking for a major league team.
  19. Accounts from Washington was that the Phillies fans would attend in droves during their good run about a decade ago. But that's about the closest recent example. Maybe being in a different league and division than the Cubs wasn't so bad.
  20. Can't even get the slide into bases right. Just can't flush so many things down the toilet.
