  1. Also, how weak would our pen be if we had Villy in the rotation the whole season? I really think we are better off the way things are. Say we replace Villy with Sarfate or even ZJ (in the pen). How bad would they be now? Ouch.
  2. No offense rluz, but have you been watching either of those guys hit lately? I genuinely think the reason we didn't trade for a second baseman or centerfielder (with Hall moving) is that Graffy has been pretty good lately. Real good the last 6 weeks or so. Weeks has been horrible lately. He can't hardly make contact. The guy needs to go to AAA and get something going. I'm very happy to say this: The Brewers can't afford to have somebody learn on the job this year. They are actually playing for something.
  3. C Cordero is only like 24. I would love to have him. Bowden wants way too much though.
  4. I agree with that. But I have a feeling the third player would be Wise or Turnbow. I could live with it being Wise. Just too fragile. The key, to me, is whether they trade Rauch or not. If they do, they'll want someone to close next year. That would seem like Turnbow. If they don't trade Rauch, he'll likely close next year. So, ZJ would be a possibility. Just grasping at straws...
  5. The silver lining is that Gagne wants to close. Not sure how important that is to him though. If he wants to close, he may end up in Milwaukee. That would be huge if we only have to give up Gwynn and a prospect (Escobar or Dillon are my guesses). Go get em Dougie!!!
  6. Bowden from Washington is a crack-pot. The guy wants 3 players that can contribute for Cordero. More like Gwynn, Vargas, and another player. If that person is a reliever, you are really thinning your depth. Although you do control Cordero for a couple of years....
  7. If Melvin could swing a deal, I'd love to see an improvement in what we used to call a bullpen. Don't shoot me for this, but here goes: Milwaukee gets: Chad Cordero Washington gets: Gwynn, Vargas, Eithier Dodgers get: F.Cordero We'd still be able to start Gallardo, Capuano, Suppan, Bush, and Parra/Villy. We get our closer for the future for parts that shouldn't be essential to our future. I hear LA won't part with Loney or Kemp, so Eithier was the logical choice. The Nats don't need a third baseman, so La Roche wouln''t work either.
  8. I'd much rather have ZJ than Davies. That was the whole point. If we could get in there, maybe we could bolster the pen.
  9. Just saw on ESPN that all the Braves are giving for Dotel is Kyle Davies. KYLE DAVIES? Would think they would jump at Zack Jack for Dotel. Would you do it?
  10. mlbtraderumors.com says that it could be: Red Sox get Dye White Sox get Turnbow, guessing a prospect too Brewers get Okajima That's our lefty reliever and Linbrink replaces Turnbow. Doesn't bother me at all.
  11. Coco is an expiring contract. Unless he is re-signed before a deal is made, you won't get a whole lot for him. But, teams are drooling over Dotel and Gagne, so why not check the market? Getting 2 months of Dye for 2 months of Cordero would be a coup, IMO. The guys OPS is over 1.000 since the break, and his OPS after the break (2004-2006) is .913. Looks alot better than watching Weeks struggle.
  12. Just thinking that since we traded for Linebrink, could we possibly trade Cordero? A number of teams are looking for relief help, maybe we could get a stick in a deal. Dye to Brewers, Cordero + Gwynn to Philly, Rowand back to Chicago? There would be a number of possibilities, but it wouldn't suprise me if Coco is dealt. We need a shakeup.
  13. I think it has everything to do with his return to Texas. He was perfect until they put him in that game there. Since then, he's been pretty bad. Could they have T-Bow close on the road only? Sounds stupid, but the numbers don't lie.
  14. I would guess that the Crew would get Dye to sign at least a one year extension. If this year is an abberation, he only want a one year deal (to prove himself). Jenks, Hart, and Dye would be an outstanding defensive outfield. Thia might be the very reason Linebrink is on the team, so we could deal Turnbow. Or, maybe they are dangling Linebrink instead, who knows?
  15. You can't say that either. Dye has been pretty awesome the last couple of years. Just guessing, but I think he's a second half player. And he improves the outfield big time. Couldn't Dye replace Weeks? Hall moves to second and Hart to center. Hart Hardy Braun Fielder Dye Jenkins Hall Estrada Me likey.
  16. I really think that this means something else is near. Trading a starter and puting Villy in the rotation might be it. Linebrink is solid. The guy will stablize the pen alot like Cordero did last year. Typical change of scenery deal. Maybe DM is talking extension with our new reliever, who knows? I just remember everybody screaming about Cordero's numbers when the deal was made last year. He needed that same change of scenery.
  17. Bringing in a pitcher who's ERA is over 16 isn't against the grain, it's stupid. And, to not have somebody warm when he walked the first guy might be even worse. Usually the first game of a roadtrip is pretty important. You need to get off on the right foot. Villy or Parra would have been better, either one.
  18. The point is that when Hall comes back, Graffy won't have to hit there. And, with the DH looming this weekend, we will need the pitchers.
  19. I think that Graffanino playing some decent outfield has made Gross even more expendable. When Jenks is benched versus RHP, Gross won't see the light of day unless Yost lets him pinch hit first. He's done it a few times, which makes no sense to me. Maybe Gwynn is being showcased. It makes sense to show people that you think he's better than Gross, even if you don't think that. Expansion of the rosters is Aug 31st. I'd love to see a fresh Gross coming off the bench to hit when we need it. This makes more and more sense the more I think about it.
  20. Cappy has been bad since he ASB last year. He won a few to start the year, but the Crew is 0-9 in his last nine starts!! Something has to be done soon.
  21. I would see what Bonds would give me for it. Making sure I got a framed Willie Mays NY Giants jersey along with the money. Maybe I'd sell it to Hammerin Hank and let him do what he wants with it.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  22. yeah, Cappy, Gwynn, and Sarfate (or equivalent prospect) could work. Be fun to have a former Cub farmhand bury them.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. I love Cabrera too. But, he's a 1B/DH in two years. You can see it coming. Holliday is only 27. I don't think the Rockies do that trade anyway. They need groundball pitchers.
  24. Holliday is a stud. Would do this in a heartbeat. He's still improving and would give us a great stick to put behind Prince. We'd still have Sheets, Yo, Suppan, Villy, and Vargas for this year. And our future lineup would be set. Just depends on how high the front office is on Parra. Selling Cappy before he hits the clearance rack?
  25. If we were to aquire Lofton, Gwynn or Gross would be involved. So the outfield wouldn't be more clogged. Knowing how the ball flies down there, I think they may want to give Gross a try. Gross or Gwynn and Vargas for Otsuka and Lofton works for me.
