  1. Bucksman, when have we needed a clutch start over the last 7 years? We havent sniffed anything near a playoff run. Hard to fault Sheets for that. I look at the lineups from 2000-2003 and chuckle. Alot of names that fell off the face of the earth after they left Milwaukee. The jury is out on most of the Brewers, in reference to clutch performances. Only a couple have played in the playoffs. Only a few more have been part of a pennant drive.
  2. I think Wise may finish the game with a four run lead.
  3. I understand that Jenkins is off to a great start, but he's been so streaky that I think we should sell high here. That's one thing Melvin likes to do. Teams that do need an outfielder that could offer us bullpen help: Oakland, Minnesota, Yankees, Braves, and Padres. I'm sure there are more, but these teams will contend and could use a rental in Jenks. Jenks and a minor league reliever to the Braves for Mike Gonzalez? Langerhans is hitting less than .100 and the Braves bullpen looks pretty good right now. I really have a gut feeling that we will need a solid lefty out of the pen other than Shouse. Guys like Luke Scott, Adam Dunn, Chris Duncan, Edmonds, Floyd, Jones, LaRoche all kill right handed pitching. It might be an opportune time to get Gross more at-bats and improve our pen.
  4. Since Cordero and Turnbow had pitched the last couple of days, today would've been the perfect time to DFA Aquino and bring up a fresh bullpen arm. Heck, Shouse against a RH hitter might have been the way to go... Whose day was it to get some side work in? Bush? I dunno. I think Ned needs to be a little less organized in the pen. Wise in the 7th, Turnbow in the 8th, Coco in the 9th. Burning your 3 best relievers up every time you lead after 6 is crazy. He'll need Winklesas back at that rate.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif He should have Aquino's BA against with runners on. It's astounding over the last two years. Makes no sense to put him in there.
  5. I don't think that one's on Billy entirely. They had him shaded to right center against a soft tossing Dessens. They should've had Hall playing stright away. Billy ran a long, long way. And Gwynn is the only one on the roster that would've gotten there. Billy got a good jump.
  6. Guess my only problem is bringing Aquino in. Opp BA- .167 w/bases empty Opp BA- .429 w/runners on If you know you don't need your set-up man to set-up, bring him in in atight situation. Turnbow would make Phillips look silly, the way he's been pitching.
  7. I have no problem with Billy batting 7th. Just glad they haven't moved Jenks up. Keep the pressure off. Have a feeling something is messed up with Billy. He had the double in the first game Wednesday and hasn't played since. I have a feeling he tweaked an ankle or something. Anyway, Gabe vs. RHP is gold.
  8. I have been thinking of building a website to sell Weirdo's apparel and advertise when we have parties and get togethers at the bar. How much would it cost me to have a link or ad on the BF.net site? I seem to have quite a demand for Weirdo's shirts and hats. (The women's underwear sold out already)
  9. My home page is Brewerfan.net. One click to boxscores? One word. Sweet.
  10. Would guess Turnbow, Coco, Shouse, Wise. Hopefully just Turnbow and Coco will be needed.
  11. One of the reasons we won this game is that the Brewer pitching walked nobody and struck out 17!!!! To have that many pitchers, in that weather, have good command of their pitches is amazing. thanks Doug Eddings!!
  12. Since most of us are fantasy geeks, I was wondering if there was a way to get baseball boxscores on Brewerfan.net. If a local newspaper wanted to charge for their info., maybe you could give them free advertising or something. The barter system wourks in the bar business.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Anybody think this is a good idea?
  13. I dont think Counsell is terrible in the 2 spot against RHP. Also, JJ has been hitting the ball harder than anyone on the team. But, we are 5 game sinto the season and our bench is Mench, Hall, Estrada, Hart, and Graffanino. No need to rest everybody. Estrada is 4 for 6 career against Miller? Maybe Damian should've played yesterday.
  14. WOuld like to see hart and Weeks switched in the order until Rickie stops trying to kill everything. Corey is taking the right approach. Not losing anything with his speed and ability to steal, either.
  15. Leadoff walks kill. Time to hit some spots Cappy.
  16. I'd stay away from all NY prospects. They keep the good ones and deal the rest. Sure, you have your David Wrights and Jose Reyes' of the group. But you also have literally a ton of young guys that are overrated by the NY media. The Yankees told everybody that would listen that D'Angelo Jiminez was their big prospect and Soriano was behind him on their depth chart. They got way too much for Jiminez and put Soriano at second base. The rest is history. Brien Taylor? Paul Wilson? Bill Pulsipher? If they are willing to deal Milledge and start Alou, Lastings isn't our answer.
  17. Plashke also mentions that the reason Sheets threw a two hitter is because the Dodger hitters had to be more aggressive against Sheets because they fell behind early. What? Everybody knows if you're behind you need to take a few pitches. You need to get on base, not become more aggressive. Also, if he had done any of his homework, he'd know you have to be aggressive with Sheets anyway. He only walked 11 in a half season last year. You need to swing against Benny if you want a chance to win. Moronic column.
  18. Actually, I was interviewed by channel 6 out of Milwaukee during the ALCS. Can't remember which game it was. Never got to see the footage because Janesville lost the channel to CNN about 3 months before. Don't think there's any link to it, but if somebody can let me know, I'd appreciate it.
  19. I was at this game at 10 years of age. Wow does this bring back memories. Third base line, box 36. About 15 rows up from third base. 24 bucks per ticket!!!! I remember because I still have my ticket stub.
  20. Shouldn't take that much. Saltamaccia's offense hasn't been good the last two years. The Braves just signed McCann through 2013. Every other GM knows Saltamaccia is available, no reason to overpay. We have 4 MLB capable catchers right now. Why add another? I wouldn't offer more than one decent prospect. Manny Parra and Closser may get it done.
  21. No no no no. Closers can be a dime a dozen. Capellan could be our closer in two years. Two young promising starters for a closer? No way Jose. We've already got a Cordero, anyway.
  22. Considering that I think that Brady would be cut if he wasn't making 3 million, I think this is a no brainer. We have 6 outfielders that are better than Brady right now. Gwynn, Gross, Hart, Mench, Hall, and Jenkins all should be kept over Brady. Since Gwynn can go back to AAA, there is our five outfielders. Pretty solid.
  23. I would do this trade because Jones' contract could be moved much easier in the near future. The answer in left field is Gabe Gross my friends. Even if he puts up numbers like Jenks, his attitude is 1000% better and he can play all three outfield spots. The guy is still young and improving. The whole Jenkins thing has me baffled. He doesn't deserve to play every day, period.
  24. Sanchez has done it for one year. If he hits .300 next year, I'll listen. Watching Pods hit .300 for one year has made me think a hitter needs to do it two years before you are considered a .300 hitter. Personally, I think Pujols, Bay, and Berkman are the cream of the crop. The rest are also rans. I'd pay half of Jenks salary to get Linebrink. Maybe even throw in a prospet. Not a top ten prospect. Since they traded Barfield, they may have interest in Iribarren.
  25. I think Turnbow and Mench gets Pena. Why wouldn't it?
