  1. Mortgage all future for a good rotation. After 3 months. DM would be looking for sticks and wish he never made those moves.
  2. Wise and Mench should get it done.
  3. Rowand does nothing for me. He wouldn't play over Gabe Gross in my book. Rowand reminds me of Brady with a better glove. Not real excited with that unless we can do Rowand/Jenks to Chicago for Garcia or Buehrle. For some reason the ChiSox want Rowand back.
  4. I think the extra year would be a fifth year. Guessing, 4yr/60mil with club option of 15mil with 5mil buyout and no trade clause. That's alot, but it may put the Crew in the postseason.
  5. IF we landed Schmidt, I don't know if I'd trade for Lieber. Sheets, Schmidt, Cappy, Bush, Vargas is pretty good. Then we could sweeten the pot with Tampa. Maybe go Villanueva, Aquino, Mench, Capellan + a prospect and get Crawford instead!!! Weeks Crawford/Baldelli Estrada Fielder Hall Hart Koskie Hardy Wow, that's solid.
  6. That sure is quite a bit. I just think CVill is gonna be a good one. I don't think it happens unless we get Lieber for Mench + Miller. Seems like when one trade goes down, there will be a dozen.
  7. I'm nervous about Wise. He can dominate. But if he pitches back to back days, he's terrible. Almost seems like he should be a starter or long reliever. I'd deal him for Ramirez, if the money is a wash. What are we giving up for Baldelli?
  8. Funny how Bowden screwed his former team with the Majewski deal. Unreal.
  9. The Red Sox need more than that!! Griffey's numbers pale in comparison to Manny's. Maybe Dunn and a good starter to Boston. ESPN.com is saying that the Mariners are involved in Manny talks. I'm guessin Richie is one of the big names involved. Possibly Betancourt too.
  10. I'm a big CVill backer. I like the idea that he knows how to pitch at such a young age. Not as much of an injury risk as young flamethrowers. Do the DRays need an outfielder if they trade Baldelli? Maybe they would take Mench as part of the deal. Mench, Capellan, Aquino, Rogers may get it done without losing Villanueva.
  11. Prince would knock him in the teeth if he didn't hustle before a popout was dropped. I have a feeling that he would be rejected if he pulled some of the crap he pulled in San Fran.
  12. The Cubs would finally be making a good move. I understand how the humidor makes Coors look more like a pitchers park. But a curve ball doesn't curve there, even if the ball is humid. I think Jennings would be a good pick up for anyone, including us.
  13. I'm thinking that the Crew and San Diego will make a deal. Jenks, Graffy to San Diego for Linebrink and a prospect. San Diego gets Dougie off the hot seat. Knowing Graffy would accept arbitration, the Pads have backed off on their two year offer. No doubt Jenks for Linebrink works for both teams. The Pads getting Graffy would fill their void at second base. The Brewers get a prospect for Graffy instead of draft picks. Kinda sounds like collusion, but I could see how Melvin and Towers could have discussed this.
  14. I don't think you get Hudson without dealing Hall. They have Chipper and Renteria on the left side of the infield, pretty much set in stone. What the Braves need is relief pitching and starting pitching. I think Hudson will bounce back. I just don't think the Crew lines up well with Atlanta now that we have a catcher.
  15. See, to me, I keep Hall at short and package Hardy with a few players. Would you get one of those guys for: Hardy, Gross, TGJ, and Rogers? You may get Holiday or Vernon Wells for them. But you'd have to be sure to lock Wells up for years to come. We have a huge advantage with a 30HR shortstop. Nobody can say that anymore. Nomar and AROD don't play short anymore. Don't trade Billy Hall!!!!
  16. So we trade our best player, again? His value is so high that the only players you'd get back are guys making 12+ million. Why would you do that? No way is he traded. Sure, his value is high. But his cieling is way higher. Even with 35/85, he had his share of spells where he tried to pull everything. If he can keep going the other way, he could go .290/40/100. Playing shortstop!! To me, he's invaluable. Here's a list of players I'd deal Hall for: Oswalt J. Santana Pujols R. Howard Mauer Sizemore Carpenter And most of those teams would have to give us cash too.
  17. Not with the lack of defense. Rivera is a butcher behind the plate. Most teams target a defensive catcher for a back up. Ideally, the starting catcher can hit and catch and the back up can do one or the other.
  18. I'm not puting my trust into Turnbow again. I don't think we are going to add a LF without moving a few outfielders first. I think if we add a big bat, it will be a contact big bat. Somebody who doesn't K much. Seems like those are the types of players DM is targeting. We have enough K's in our lineup already, IMHO.
  19. See, the Braun, Hall, Weeks, Fielder infield has me drooling. 120 HR out of your infield? Wow. I'm not giving up on Hardy. But you have to give up talent to get it. And Ervin Santana is as talented as any young pitcher around. A possible future ace. A rotation of Sheets, Cappy, Santana, Bush, and CV or CV has me drooling also.
  20. Not sure if this belongs in another thread, so move it if you have to. We now have 3 guys that can play short. We have at least 6 that can play left field, and two catchers worthy of starting in the Majors. There is no way we don't make a quantity for quality trade here before Spring Training, right? Toronto and Boston both need a shortstop and have big sticks on the block. I'm not advocating a trade for Ramirez or Wells, but if a 3-way deal lands us an Ervin Santana type pitcher, can we package Hardy, Jenks, and a prospect to get him?
  21. How about this boys? Angels get Ramirez Brewers get Santana, Angels reliever (they have a glut) Red Sox get Hardy, Jenks, Turnbow Now this makes sense for everybody. Brewers clear salary and get a big, young starter. Red Sox get their SS of the future, a RF to replace Nixon, and the reliever they supposedly are interested in. I LOVE this trade.
  22. How about Jenks and Miller? The Dodgers have stated that they want Piazza back and he'd start 100-110 games. Damian would serve as backup to him. I loved watching Penny throw about 25 straight fastballs at the all star game last year. That was very impressive.
  23. He could also spell Prince at first once in a while. I say yes.
  24. How about Hall in CF, Weeks at second, and Koskie at third? We can do that without spending cash on a second baseman. IMO, Braun needs to be in AAA this year. A September call up is fine with me. We need to spend money on a power stick or a sub 4.00era pitcher.
  25. Pretty sure this player we add will be from a trade. Will it be an outfileder or a starter? Outfielders I'd target as trade possibilities: 1. Jason Bay and Jose Castillo for Weeks, Davis, and Eveland- A big package for the most underrated player in the league, but it gives Pitt a ton of potential and gives us an anchor in the outfiled. He reminds me of Jeff Bagwell if he were an outfielder. 2. Brian Giles for Corey Hart and DD- Sure, we mortgage a bit of our future, but Giles is signed up and we may lose Hart by the time Giles' contract is up. 3. Vernon Wells for Davis, Hardy, and Clark- This is the mortgage the future for one year gamble, unless DM were able to open Mark A.'s wallet. Pitchers that may be available: 1. Tim Hudson for Davis and Eveland- Gambling on Hudson being effective next year. A gamble I'd like to see. 2. Jake Peavy and Cla Meredith for Cappy, TGJ, Zach Jack, and Iribarren- With Barfield gone, they may like a combo of Gwynn and Iribarren for youngsters. Peavy is filthy, period. 3. Freddy Garcia for Clark, TGJ, and Eveland- The Sox are actively shopping Garcia, among others. A pitching prospect and a centerfielder might be enough for them to take Brady's salary. 4. Ervin Santana and McPherson for Braun and Jenkins- For some reason, the Angels are shopping Santana. A stiff price, but a future number one is hard to pass up. Let's get the hot stove warmed up!
