  1. The only problem I had was bringing Stetter in for the first time in a game we are ahead. He was clearly nervous until the lefties came up. I was upset when Brian said that Stetter had been stretched out and can now face right handed hitting. Just let him be the LOOGY until he gets his feet wet.
  2. That's more than Philly got for Helms.
  3. About a month ago, a cougar was spotted in Janesville, by Blackhawk golf course. They are pretty sure it was the same one found in Milton. Thought it was heading East. To add to the story about Milton, I read in the Janesville Gazette that the guy who spotted the cougar going into his barn, followed it in, with two rocks as his ammo. Idiot. You can't make that up.
  4. If Prince even had two home runs this conversation would not be going on. Just seeing that we are 8-6 and everybody except Hall, Hart, Kendall, and Kapler are scuffling at the plate, makes me think this team will hit 90 wins when Prince and Braun get on track. They are pressing, that's all. Prince hit 5 HR last April, so he's 2HR behind last April's pace. No big whoop.
  5. Guys, we are not even 10% of the way through the season. Relax. Whatever Rickie is doing is fine with me. He's leading the league in runs scored and Braun and Prince aren't even hitting yet. When they get going, the offense will be fine. Remember, Rickie was sent to the minors last year. He may just be a slow starter.
  6. Why wouldn't Ned start Gross instead of Dillon? I know nobody is hitting a lick, but if you are going to sit Braun, at least put another lefty in the lineup.
  7. Very nice Contra footnote. Funny. It would be nice to get these guys to sign multi year deals. But, knowing Prince plays first, which is much more replaceable, I'd offer Hart a long term deal first.
  8. My 2 year old daughter is a cereal fanatic. Apple Jacks has recently replaced cheerios as her favorite. We have quite a list of cereal at any one time. 1. Apple Jacks 2. Cheerios 3. Frosted Flakes 4. Fruity Pebbles 5. Captain Crunch 6. Peanut Butter Captain Crunch 7. Cocoa Pebbles- For use only on vanilla ice cream- AWESOME. Usually 4 of those seven are in our pantry, with the top two always in stock.
  9. Rudy. Every single time I see that movie. When they start chanting his name, and when he gets the sack. Field of Dreams never made me cry until I lost my dad almost four years ago. Now, I'm a blubbering idiot. An Affair to Remember- My girlfriend is an old movie buff. Great flick.
  10. The Cubs RF OPS last year was right around .800. That should be about what they get out of Fukudome. A .280/..350/ .450 seems to be a good guess for him. A 3-4-5 of Dempster, Hill, and Marquis doesn't do much for me either. Especially if Hill can't find the plate. The Cub fans brag about their pen, then they put their faith in Kerry Wood, while moving their closer to the rotation.
  11. How can you say we didn't make any moves??? Gagne = Cordero (very average second half) Riske > 2007 Turnbow- without a doubt Torres > Wise Shouse = Shouse 2008 Turnbow > 2007 McClung 2008 McClung = Spurling 2008 Parra = 2007 Villy There is no way our bullpen isn't better this season than last. Kendall and Cameron are better than Estrada and Jenkins too. Maybe not a ton better, but the defense overall will be much better.
  12. This is where the Brewers are saving money. They released Vargas now and will release McClung (when Yo comes off the DL) with Parra going to long relief to limit his innings. So Melvin decided that the 10 days (approx.) that Yo is on the DL isn't worth Vargas' salary, and I agree 100%. If it were McClung released today and Vargas released when Yo comes back, we would be wondering why Melvin didn't just release Vargas before he was owed his 2008 salary. They will put McClung on waivers, hoping he clears and goes to AAA. Very smart move by DM.
  13. Most of the time I use clippers, but sometimes I use a razor blade. I start with the clippers first, then go to the razor. After a once over where you still feel a little stubble, I run warm to hot water over my head and try to get everything as smooth as possible. Some of the stubble is residue that has already been cut. The water seems to work well. I have come to grips with the fact that the Mr Clean look only lasts for a few hours before the stubble comes back anyway. So I don't lose any sleep if it isn't perfect.
  14. I honestly think that when Yo gets healthy that Vargas and McClung are the two to be released. Now, if the Brewers save cash by releasing Vargas before the season as somebody said earlier, keeping McClung for the first couple of weeks and then eating his smaller salary makes a ton of sense. Why be on the hook for 3.6 mil for 10 days of a long reliever? I think there are a ton of Vargas type pitchers on the market. Might as well low ball a free agent for 750K than keep paying Claudio 3.6. Who knows? Maybe Gross goes to a team for a long reliever.
  15. 1. Corey Hart goes 30/30 2. Yovani wins 15 3. Brewers win division 4. Brewers let Sheets sign with Red Sox after Schilling retires.
  16. The Brewers will have 50 saves as a team this year. Gagne- 32 Riske- 6 Turnbow-6 Torres- 3 Mota- 3
  17. More Merle Haggard for you. Two of my favorites, not two of his most popular. Rainbow Stew is 30 years old, and still speaks volumes about what is wrong with society. Rainbow Stew There's a big, brown cloud in the city, And the Countryside's a sin. And the price of life is to high to give up, Gotta come down again. When the world wide war is over and done, And the dream of peace comes true. We'll all be drinkin free bubble-ubb, and Eatin that Rainbow Stew. When they find out how to burn water, And the gasoline car is gone. When the airplane flies without any fuel, and the sunlight heats our home. One of these days when the air clears up, And the sun comes shinin through. We'll all be drinkin' the free bubble-ubb, And eatin that rainbow stew. You don't have to get high to get happy, Just think about what's in store. When people start doin what they oughta be doin, Then they won't be booin' no more. When a President goes through the White House door, And does what he says he'll do, We'll all be drinkin that free bubble ubb, Eatin that rainbow stew. It's Not Love (but it's not bad) She's always there each time I needed you, Holding on to me like I held on to you' we still don't have what you and I once had; No, it's not love, but it's not bad. No, It's not love, not like ours was. It's not love, But it keeps love from driving me mad; And I don't have to wonder who she's had. No, it's not love, but it's not bad. I turn to her when you leave me alone, Sometimes even when you're here, and you're still gone. She's slowly changing what you leave so sad; No, it's not love , But it's not bad. 18. Merle Haggard is my favorite song writer. By far. Ramblin Fever My hat don't stay on the same nail too long, My ears can't stand to hear the same old song, If someone ever said I gave a damn, they damn sure told you wrong, I got Ramblin Fever in my blood. Ramblin fever, The kind that can't be measured by degrees, Ramblin fever, There ain't no kind of cure for my disease. I kind of like to get out on the road, and let some pretty lady rub my back, spend the early morning drinkin coffee, talkin about when I'll be coming back.
  19. I'm actually very happy the Bucks went with Bogut over Williams. Bogut has gotten to be a pretty good center and there isn't many of those around. I don't get why Kohl would veto that Randolph trade. Simmons, Bell, and Gadzuric are owed a ton of money. Isn't that what Kohl wants? To get rid of big contracts and improve talent. Randolph is the best player in that trade. Jeffries might be second best. Cannot believe he vetoed that. Wow.
  20. I personally think that he can help a little. He could spot start at third when guys like Zambrano or Oswalt start. He has to be better against tough right handed pitching than Hall has, right?
  21. There seems to be a trend in the NBA. Overpaid, washed up players "quit" when they are on bad teams. Then they get traded and BAM, they are good again. Vince Carter is the poster boy for this trend. When he was in Toronto, he was hurt all year. He got traded, and then New Jersey went to the finals. Vince Carter, Chris Webber (did it twice I think), Damon Stoudamire, and soon to come, Steve Francis. A horrible trend for the NBA. A rule should be invoked that a player cannot be sitting out with an injury when traded.
  22. I think I have to choose a pig over a cow. But it's very close. Ham, Bacon, Pork chops, pork loin, side pork. Yum. if you are looking for variety, there are 7 different kinds of meat that come from a turtle. One tastes just like chicken. No kidding.
  23. Personally, I think Milledge will outperform Church by himself this year. I think the Mets will regret that trade big time. An everyday lineup with Delgado and Alou needs to have depth. They traded Gomez and Milledge. A staff that leans on El Duque and Pedro needs depth. They traded their depth to Minnesota. If they don't lose Wright, Beltran, Reyes, or Santana, they will win 90 games. If any get hurt and they don't make the playoffs, Minaya is as good as gone. They went from a top ten Minor league system, to a bottom ten in one trade. Big gamble.
  24. I got two seats, Section SRLLF. Standing room something. I figure it's on the left side somewhere. But I really can't click on anything on redsox.com. Do the SRO tickets let you wander the entire lower deck? Are they upper deck? I have zero clue. Little help?
  25. Because these kids stay in Juvenile Detension instead of jail. And, according to my step-son to be, it isn't all that bad. He said they have cable and a gym to play basketball. Boy is that tough.
