  1. If you are at a low limit table, you don't expect everybody to know the rules. If you are at a high limit table, people tend to be more serious. Myself, if I was worried about what other people are doing, I'd sit at a $25 table. Which I usually do.
  2. So, I guess we have to root for Hall to get hurt. Maybe this shouldn't be in blue.
  3. I started a thread about this last year ( I believe). It stated that AL Teams will get a guy just to hit and pay him 8 million, where that same spot in the NL is almost always a guy that can play multiple positions. Counsell, DeRosa, Schumaker, come to immediate memory. An NL team cannot talk a great hitter like Ortiz, Sheffield, or Thome to sign with them so they can hit just for interleague play or in case we make the World Series. You could offer 20 mil and most of these guys would just rather play. The other side of the sword is that these guys, or the guy they replace in the field, are the first man off the bench in the NL parks. They will obviously pinch hit when needed. So, basically with Boston you could have Ortiz, Lowell, or Youkilis as your first man off the bench. Yankees could have ARod or Giambi coming off the bench. Detroit could have Sheff, Cabrera, or Guillen. To me, something has to be done. There is plenty of offense in the majors, get rid of the DH. It was put into the game to increase offense and they don't need that anymore.
  4. I know ESPN is not the end-all-be-all, but they have us picking Eric Gordon. No way we pick a guy that can't play defense.
  5. How much do the running blades weigh? As much as regular calves and feet? To me, that's the thing that would give him and unfair advantage.
  6. I'd have to say that right now, Family Guy is better. But, the first 7 seasons of the Simpsons were genius. The fighting chicken and the monkey are stupid. I think they just use them as filler when the show needs it. I also think that Family Guy needs to show more of Peter's friends. They all make me laugh. 1. Family Guy 2. Hank Hill 3. Simpsons 4. Futurama 5. American Dad 6. South Park- South Park is as annoying and over the top as it gets.
  7. I think you would be replacing Cameron with LaPorta. Then your outfield would be LaPorta (LF), Hart (CF), Braun (RF).
  8. How long is Andy Pettitte signed for? I like the Sabathia idea too. Pettitte Sabathia Maddux Aaron Cook Meche- Would have to cover final 3 years Hudson Livan Hernandez Derek Lowe
  9. Right now, it looks like everybody had a career year last year. The odds of that happening are slim to none. If I see Weeks, Hall, or Hardy take another 2-0 fastball down main street, I'm gonna scream. You get to 2-0 to get a pitch to drive, not to pray that the pitcher can't find the strike zone. Then it gets to 2-2 and they chase a slider in the dirt, knowing two pitches earlier there was a 88mph meatball right down the middle. The team was aggressive last year. This year, they are very passive.
  10. How much fast food do you eat? I feel like crap for about 90 minutes after I eat any of it. I also hit the couch and do nothing. Actually, I went to the doctor about 18 months ago for a physical. My first one in about 15 years (since I was 20). I found out the reason that I was tired all the time was due to my kidneys. Turns out I had a kidney infection about 10 years ago that I had mistaken for chronic back trouble. I basically lost about 15% function in both kidneys so my body works harder to get rid of unwanted matter (alcohol, excess sodium, etc.). My hangovers last well into the next afternoon. I was told to cut down on certain foods that contain excess sodium. Fast Food, processed food (basically Oscar Mayer meats), ham, bacon, salted butter, and a whole list of stuff I love. It can be a pain, but I only get fast food maybe once every three weeks. I buy deli meat, which is a ton better than the other stuff anyway. I do drink less than I used to also.
  11. Here's my ideal lineup: 1.Hart- best baserunner on the team should bat ahead of best hitters 2.Hall- Will see good pitches with Hart on first and Braun and Prince behind him. Needs to go to right field more, perfect spot for him even with K's. 3.Braun 4. Fielder 5. Cameron- Need somebody behind Prince that can drive the ball. 6. Hardy- Swinging too much to hit in front of the pitcher 7. Kendall- Will take walks to get lineup through pitchers spot 8. Pitcher- 9. Weeks- Second leadoff man. Take a little pressure off the guy.
  12. That seems to be Villy and Manny's problem too. They get through the first 3 or 4 innings and then start elevating everything. I know their problems are probably more than that. But it sure seems like it's that simple.
  13. How about Brad Nelson (while he's hitting) + Gwynn to San Fran for Sanchez? San Fran has stated that they need to get younger in the outfield and need power at first base. Even if Nelson ends up being a starting first baseman, it won't be here. Even if Prince walks in a few years, LaPorta would probably be the replacement, not Nelson. With that deal, we don't give up either of our top hitting prospects and add another young arm. Left handed too.
  14. Remember, we could have Prince DH, with Hart playing first. Hart did come up there. My ideal DH vs RHP lineup: (thinking OF speed in Minnesota) Gwynn RF Cameron CF Braun LF Prince DH Hart 1B Hall 3B Hardy SS Weeks 2B Kendall C vs LHP Weeks DH or 2B Cameron CF Braun LF or DH Prince 1B Hart RF Hall 2B or 3B Dillon 3B or LF Hardy SS Kendall C
  15. This must mean that Yo is healthy, right? They would wait on this move if there was any question, right? WHEW.
  16. Here's my idea. Release or trade Turnbow, bring up Iribarren, and platoon him with Rickie. Rickie's OPS is .592 versus right handed pitching, yet it's over.900 against lefties. With our lineup stacked with right handed sticks, we may see more teams push their lefties back a few days when the Brewers come to town. Piniella did that with Rich Hill. So, Rickie isn't even gonna see the left handed pitching he craves. Hernan deserves a shot. It might as well be while Rickie isn't hitting.
  17. I like Hart batting behind Prince. Prince needs better protection than Hall. And, I like the order the way Ned has it, if he has to hit the pitcher 8th. Any lineup that doesn't have Hall and Cameron back to back is fine with me. If Ned were to put the pitcher in the nine hole, I'd like Kendall batting second, with Hardy splitting Hall and Cameron.
  18. Oswalt may be dealt before this trade deadline. I think he could put us over the top. What would it take to get him? He's signed for a while, so he would make a Sheets decision easy this coming Winter. Would Weeks and Parra for Oswalt make us the favorite in the NL? Oswalt, Sheets, Gallardo, Suppan, and Villy looks to be one of the best rotations in the majors. The Brewers could get Loretta back to platoon with Iribarren for the rest of this season. What does everybody think?
  19. Don't worry guys. Here's the Cubs schedule so far: 3 vs mil 3 vs hou 3 at pit 3 at cin 3 vs pit 3 vs phil 2 vs nym 5 games vs winning teams. I believe they have only played 2 or 3 road series, while the Brewers have played 4 (nym, chi, cin, stl).
  20. Looks like Mota and Torres are the most dependable bullpen arms. Wow, who woulda thought that? No reason to jump off any bridges yet. 2 games behind the Cubs yet the Cubs have had only 6 road games and 5 games against .500 teams. Their schedule will get tougher.
  21. I'm glad we got something for Gabe. If Gwynn hadn't gotten hurt, we wouldn't be having the walks conversation. Gwynn would've been out there versus all RHP. Both Gwynn and Gross had little playing time, but I thought Gwynn was much more impressive. No options for Gabe, so he had to go.
  22. What upsets me the most is that Gagne has looked great lately. All momentum is shot. Ned knows that Turnbow can't pitch back to back days, yet he sends a pitcher (who's elbow basically had to be put back together) in 4 games in a row. Plus, the Cards are in town tomorrow and no Gagne for Monday, whether he blew today's game or not. My other vent is that Rickie didn't try to bunt with Kendall on second and nobody out. If Kendall gets to third, JJ is sure to make decent contact after his bomb earlier in the game. Elementary to most of us, but not to Ned.
  23. Every year, Ned falls in love with players and overuses them until we all are ready to scream. We've witnessed it with the Royce Claytons, Wes Helmses, Capuanos, Turnbows, and many others over the years. Who are this year's candidates? My list: 1. Dave Bush- Not to pick, but Ned leaves him in way too long. Seems like he's scoreless for 5 innings and Ned hooks him after 6 1/3 and 4ER every start. 2. Gabe Gross- I know injuries are inevitable, but I can't stand hearing how Gross has all of these quality at bats when he's hitting .118. 3. McClung- Be very interesting if he's not on the roster in the next week. We now have 13 pitchers because they don't want to DFA him. I think Ned has man love for Seth. 4. Counsell- Seems to be the first LH ph every game, even though there are better on the bench ( when Gwynn and Gross are riding the pine).
  24. Grilled chicken myself, sliced potatoes in foil with onion and garlic, and corn. Isn't a true cookout without potato salad or cottage cheese, so we had the cottage cheese. We use the Freshlike frozen corn. Anybody buy this stuff? Fresh as corn on the cob, I promise!!! It steams itself right in the bag and is great when you can't get ears of corn. Try it sometime.
  25. I'd say let Sheets go if he gets 16+ wins. Every scout in the game says Yo will be an ace soon. Take the 15mil you save on not signing Ben, and go out and get a legitimate 200 inning, 15 win guy.
