  1. I love this idea too. But I would bat Hardy between Prince and Dunn. Not just because of the rh lh rh lh lineup. But because JJ would see a strict diet of fastballs.
  2. I disagree. If we had acquired a decent starter a month ago, we could be in first right now. Plus, a decent starter would tax the bullpen less, thus helping it too.
  3. I say trade Gamel before Escobar. We have other in house options at third base in Green and McGehee. We have 3 cheap third basemen. And while Gamel may be the best of the three, if McGehee hits .280 with 15-20 HR for the next five years, losing Gamel won't bother us too much. If our infield is cheap in 2 years, we may actually be able to resign Halladay. If we deal Escobar, we could easily be looking at a large hole at shortstop in two years. I still have nightmares over the Jose Hernandez days. Hardy will not be here in three years. Heck, he probably gets dealt before opening day next year. Also, we have needed a true leadoff hitter for years. Since Vina was here. Escobar is fast and is improving yearly on his patience at the plate. I would rather have McGehee/Green and Escobar in 2011 than Gamel and ???? in 2011.
  4. Boston gets Hardy, Rios Boston gives Jed Lowrie and Red Sox prospect Toronto gets Jed Lowrie, Gamel, Hall, Scarpetta, Red Sox prospect Toronto gives Halladay, Rios Brewers get Halladay Brewers give Gamel, Hardy, Hall, and Scarpetta This goes under the "proposal" category, something I drummed up. But Toronto could take Hall's contract if they get rid of Rios' monster contract.
  5. If Halladay were to accept a trade here, I don't see how he would demand a trade in 4 months. He has to approve the deal now anyway. And if he wants to compete, the Brewers will be contenders with him. Also, I would include Hardy, but he may end up in Boston. I could see Toronto sending him to Boston for Jed Lowrie. I do think this is the year you trade for Halladay, because we have to worry about 2009 and 2010 before we worry about 2011. Also, I think Prince may be dealt for an Ace after 2010.
  6. Hardy, Rios, and Halladay to Boston Bucholz and Delcarmen to Milwaukee Lars Anderson, Jed Lowrie, and Manny Parra to Toronto This works because Boston can take on the payroll and it gets them where they want to go. Works for Toronto because it gets Rios' contract off the books and they get the young shortstop they covet. They also get ML ready pitching. Works for Milwaukee because it gets them the future #1 or #2 starter they want and fortifies a bullpen that needs it. They can bring Escobar up too. Even shaves a bit of payroll.
  7. How about Hart, Escobar, Parra, and Scarpetta for Halladay and Rolen? It sounds like it's overpaying, but we'll have to give up more than we did last year. We are getting Roy for a year and a half. If we got CC for that long, we'd still be laughing about the deal we got. This deal would give us a starter that averages 7+ innings a start. That is huge for our pen, which has been decent so far. But, at this pace, we are gonna need to do something there if we don't add a starter.
  8. Ask the Cubs about a good lead off hitter. A good lead off hitter has a high OBP and is a great base runner.
  9. The Brewers trading Braun is close to being as bad as the Cards trading Pujols. Now, Escobar, Parra, Salome, and a pitcher would be fine with me. I think Hardy, Parra, and Salome would be enough too. Hardy is a proven major leaguer. Escobar still has questions.
  10. I own a bar in Janesville. Fortunately for me, people still drink. But, it has made it's mark on Janesville. I know hundreds of people that have left town for other work. I also know a bunch that are too stubborn to go anywhere else and it bit them in the hindquarters. I really think part of the problem is that people aren't willing to take a step back in wages, lifestyle, etc. Things are different here now, and will never be the same. Even if GM were to come back here, $15/hr jobs are not as good as what they had before. Not even close. I have a cousin that moved to Arlington, TX. Was an electrician at GM in Janesville. $40+ per hour. If Janesville gets GM back, he won't be invited back. They want to hire new blood, at a cut rate.
  11. Blair reminded me too much of Tractor Traylor. Wide body, yet too short. Scorer and rebounder in college, yet may not be able to do either in the NBA. Most shorter guys that create space inside in college, get eaten alive in the pros.
  12. I think the microscope would be on JJ more if Weeks were healthy. Then McGehee and Counsell would be platooning at third. I think the discussion would then be, "Why isn't Counsell playing more?" And, JJ doesn't continually flail at the curve in the dirt with 2 strikes on him. Hart and Hall are basically out when they get to two strikes.
  13. Hope it's something to jump start this team. Please be big...
  14. Our mini dachs' name is Schnitzel.
  15. What people seem to forget, is that we will get prospects in every trade we're forced to make for payroll reasons. We're all pretty sure Hardy and Prince will be on other teams by 2012. Just trading those two should net us quite a few prospects.
  16. Bill Hall is a right field hitter that tries to pull everything. Pure and simple. Almost every clutch hit he has had has been to right field. So why does he pull every outside pitch to short? That's the question of the day.
  17. Does anybody think that Hart and a pitcher to Washington for Dunn sound pretty good? Then after this year, if we need to trade Prince, slide Dunn to first base. I really think a Fielder/Braun/Dunn lineup would be hard to beat.
  18. I certainly hope DM the GM is talking to Cameron about a 1 year extension for 2010. Also, I would love to see the Crew give Rivera and Salome catching duties for next year. Kendall is a decent catcher, but his handling of pitching is overrated. And I would hope those 2 catchers could hit .230 with a ton more power than Kendall. Beginning to think I'd rather have Hank White back instead of Kendall (Henry Blanco for our Spanish speakers).
  19. Personally, I like Conan, Ferguson, and Letterman. IMO, Letterman is the reason people watch Conan. Conan's show reminds me of Letterman's when he debuted. Leno and Fallon are pretty bad. Leno talks and laughs over most of his guests and Fallon is just bad. Fallon reminds me of "The Chris Farley Show" from SNL. Do you remember when you did this (or that)? That was awesome!
  20. Didn't Eddie Murray win an MVP in Baltimore? I thought so....
  21. But would Cain and Winn for Hart and Jeffress get it done? Winn can lead off and is a good player. Not sure what his contract is, but I think he's a free agent after the season is over.
  22. Not to put a scare into anybody, but if the Brewers don't trade for Peavy, where will he go? He is interested in staying in the NL. How in the world can we afford Peavy to be traded somewhere in the NL other than Milwaukee? If we are truly interested in winning, there is no way we want the Cubs, Cards, Dodgers, Mets, or Phillies to trade for him. Those are the 5 teams standing in our way to a World Series and each has a reason to go after Peavy. So, if Peavy is +3.5 wins for the Brewers, wouldn't he be the same replacing Marshall or Wellemeyer in their respective rotations? I don't think we can afford to give up that many wins to either of those teams.
  23. Parra, Hart, and Escobar for Peavy, Giles, and Headley or Kousmanoff? I like Headley as our switch hitting 3B of the future, with Gamel taking over in right next year. Gamel could immediately learn RF in AAA this year and be ready next year.
  24. Denny McClain
  25. I'm sick of this. 70 percent of all MLB teams are filled with players from other organizations. Evidently, the minute they cross the border into St Louis, players become classy and respectful. The fans will give a hand to opposing players when they make a great catch. Most all fans do, even Cub fans. But Cardinal fans think they know more about baseball. They are snotty. The only reason people think St Louis fans are classy is because that's all you hear from St Louis fans. Other fans complain about the treatment they get in Milwaukee, I've heard it many times. What do you expect??? 25,000 people cooking out and drinking for hours before a game and you expect a tennis crowd? Get over it Cardinal fans, you aren't better than anyone else.
