  1. Sean Berry and Butch Wynegar have experience as hitting coaches. Needless to say, you don't have to be a good player to be a hitting coach.
  2. I'm going as a wet t-shirt contest winner. Teri and I went to goodwill and K-Mart to finish the outfit. I ordered the see through shirt, complete with healthy breasts and a sash that says, "Wet t-shirt contest winner". We picked up a blond wig and high heels and a skirt today. A clean shave and a little make up on Friday and I'm a drunk tramp. Should be interesting. There may be pictures posted this weekend. Will have to be a link because of the maturity of the costume.
  3. Put me on the board for liking this hiring. At least over Brenly and Randolph. I do like the coaches that are coming back too. I also like the fact that Oakland always had a good pen when Macha was there. That may be because of the Beane, but you still have to push the right buttons. We know Ned was horrible in that respect. I really wish Showalter would have gotten a look. He got the shaft in New York and Arizona. The guy is a good manager.
  4. I'd like to run with this Hardy/ Peavy deal that may or may not happen. 1. Weeks, Hardy, and Gamel to San Diego for Peavy and Headley 2. Re-sign Durham to a one year deal 3. Re-sign Counsell to a one year deal 4. Do not sign Cameron, Gagne, or Shouse 5. Trade Parra and Gwynn to Colorado for Hawpe and Tavares Hart CF Durham/Hall 2B Braun LF Fielder 1B Headley 3B Hawpe RF Escobar SS Kendall C Bench: Rivera, Counsell, Nelson, Durham/Hall, Tavares Peavy, Yo, Bush, Suppan, FA starter or Cappy McClung, Torres, Riske, Stetter, Villy, Dillard, Pena
  5. Is Jeffress in our plans to start next year? I would say no. Peavy, Yo, Bush, Suppan, Capuano/Villy/McClung I'd say you are strengthening a weakness more than losing a pitcher. Until the Cubs become a team full of lefty hitters, the Brewers need to have a wealth of right handed starters. Rosenthal states that a Weeks and Hardy combo could snap the Padres attention. We could replace Hardy with Escobar then platoon Hall and Durham. We lose a bit, but not a ton.
  6. My guess would be Billy Martin.
  7. The Brewers are past the point of making an offer "just to make an offer". They can be competitive with other teams. Everybody says the Yankees have an unlimited amount of money to offer. With all the holes the Yankees have now and in the near future (Jeter, Abreu, Matsui, and Rivera are all aging fast), they can't just open the pocketbook anymore. They gave ARod a ridiculous amount of money that he will never fully earn. They have learned that you can't buy a World Series. If the Crew can offer 5/125m with a 6th year option, they aren't blowing smoke. But would you rather have CC at that money, or a combination of Derek Lowe, Brian Roberts, and say Hank Blalock? Not so sure which way I'd go.
  8. My mistake. I must have read it wrong. I still would offer quite a bit for his services.
  9. What kind of money do you guys think Brad Hawpe will get? His home/away splits were pretty consistent this year. His OBP was .380 also. Do we offer him a 4 year deal? The guy can play right field with Hart moving to center. I say sign him and throw Gamel in an offer to San Diego. The trade I had in mind had Headley and Peavy coming to the Brewers for Weeks, Parra, Gamel, and Salome.
  10. Brewers get Headley and Peavy Padres get Weeks, Parra, Gamel, and Salome The Brewers fill their third base void with the switch hitting Headley. Peavy leads us into the future with his heavy stuff. He would be the ideal pitcher to shut down the right handed heavy Cubs.
  11. If there's anybody on the Rays I'd want it's Upton. He walked over 90 times this year and plays a decent center field, considering he was just moved there. Fast as lightning too. Here's my list: 1. Hanley Ramirez 2. BJ Upton 3. Chad Billingsley 4. Matt Garza 5. Evan Longoria 6. Jon Lester 7. Tim Lincecum 8. Cole Hamels 9. Jose Reyes That's it. All are players that are young and cheap. Why would we trade Braun for a guy that has a contract that's 10+mil per season?
  12. If the Dodgers have done this well with a Manny, Kemp, Eithier outfield, I don't see them dealing any outfielder. I would trade just about anyone outside of Braun and Yovanni for them. We have to be realistic here. I will say that Yo replaces Sheets in the rotation. I just don't see us giving CC that kind of money. 1. Trade Weeks and Gwynn to Baltimore for Brian Roberts. 2. Trade Hall to SF for a reliever or minor leaguer 3. Move Hardy to 3B, Escobar to SS 4. Sign Raul Ibanez to a one or two year deal 5. Do not sign Cameron, Gagne, Shouse, or Sheets 6. Sign a Derek Lowe type pitcher. Not sure who all is available. 2B Roberts 3B Hardy RF Braun 1B Prince CF Hart LF Ibanez C Kendall SS Escobar Pitcher Rivera, Nelson, FA utility (Felipe Lopez), Branyan, and a backup centerfielder Lowe, Yo, Parra, Bush, Suppan McClung (cl), Torres, Stetter, Villanueva, Riske, Coffey, and Dillard
  13. Trading Prince means we still have to find a left handed power stick for the lineup. There would have to be another offensive minded trade after that one.
  14. Was just thinking a few of us could meet up in that box that day. I just posted it here because I check this Forum all the time. No harm intended. Couldn't believe people were bidding $150 for bleacher seats when I got those for $200/per.
  15. How about Kapler or Sheets? Don't think a non-stressful throw would hurt too much.
  16. How about Manny Parra? Sure, he's fallen off lately, but he was a solid #2 through May and June after Yo got hurt. He was very very good those two months. And Carlos Villanueva. There was a time when he and Torres were the only two dependable relievers in the pen.
  17. There's a guy selling tickets on EBAY, 2 for $399, in a PARTY SUITE. I guess he's selling them to make a buck, but $200 per in a suite is well, SWEET!! I bought two and there are three sets left as I speak. Check it out!!!!
  18. I was at many big Brewer games in the early 80's, with my father, who passed in 2004. We were at the game in '81 when Fingers struck out Whitaker to clinch the first Brewer playoff spot. We were at the Division Series against the Yankees that year. We were also at the ALCS in '82. Interviewed by channel 6 out of Milwaukee during game. We were at the World Series that year too. This huge win brings back so many memories and brings on quite a few tears too. I was in my bar, that my father and I owned together, when the Brewers clinched. Could there be a better place for me to be? Maybe Box 36 in County Stadium, but that would be the only better place. A great season already. Can only get better, in my opinion. Go get em Crew.

  20. Huge for the Brewers that Guzman is starting. Oliver Perez may not be able to find the plate tomorrow or he could be great. I like Florida versus lefties. Jacobs is the only LH stick they have. Florida wins 8-3 Brewers win 7-5
  21. We have zero reason to rebuild. Prince is carrying this team to it's first playoff berth in 26 years. He's the golden boy if we get there. I could see a few deals before Spring next year. I'm not sold on trading JJ, either. 1. Weeks and a prospect for Brian Roberts. I don't think there's any doubt that the front office wanted Durham playing, even though Ned kept playing Weeks. We can use a leadoff hitter and another lefty in the lineup. Roberts has the OBP and speed we want in front of Braun and Fielder. 2. Escobar, Nelson, and Brantley for Cain. Sure, we mortgage a bit of the future, but Cain's and Yo is a much cheaper version of CC and Sheets. 3. Trade Suppan for Hank Blalock. Bad contract for bad contract. Melvin's connection with the Rangers nets us a third baseman. Roberts 2b Hardy SS Braun LF Fielder 1B Hart RF Hall/Blalock 3B Cameron CF Kendall C Cain Yo Parra Bush McClung
  22. There are many options here. Do we trade for pitching??? Can we move Suppan??? I say yes to both. With the Yankees sure to sign CC or Sheets, they still will have holes in their rotation. 1. Trade Suppan and Nelson to the Yankees for Robinson Cano. Cano is a young, left handed hitter, that can play second base for years to come. The salary relief could get us a starter. The Yankees get an innings eater for less than they would have to pay for another free agent. They also get a left handed, power hitting prospect that could replace Giambi. 2. Put Hall and Weeks in a package to pick up a starter. Cain would be #1 on my list. Hall, Weeks, and a prospect for Cain. 3. Re-sign CC or Sheets. Offer CC 5yr/125mil. Offer Sheets 3yr/54mil. With Gagne, Suppan, and CC or Sheets salary coming off, it can be done. 4. I think Cameron is hurting right now. His left knee is bad. He'll be fine next year. 5. Use prospects for bullpen. Dillard and DeFilice are as good if not better than Gagne and Mota. Stetter should be our LOOGY too. Lineup: Cano 2B Hardy 3B Braun LF Fielder 1B Hart RF Cameron CF Kendall C Escobar SS pitcher Rotation: Sheets or CC Cain Yo Parra Bush Bullpen: Torres, Villanueva, Shouse, Stetter, Dillard, Riske, McClung. Looks thin, but with that rotation, it should be fine. IMO, Gamel and Salome need more time in the minors. Escobar can fly. If he gets on base, he can lead off.
  23. Weeks needs to go. He could be great someday, but it probably won't happen here. When the pressure is on, he fails. He presses more than anybody on the team. Every pitcher we face will be throwing change ups, since we've proven that we can't hit them. Weeks can't wait back on most fastballs, let alone change ups. Dempster must have thrown 30 or 40 changes last night.
  24. Yount could easily be next year's manager. We all know he didn't agree with many of Ned's moves (neither did we!). I think this is a great move. Ned was horrible down the stretch last year. He was pretty bad this year also. Managing is easy when your pitchers go seven innings every outing (July, August). Gets a little tougher when you have to manage a bullpen (September). Think maybe Ned knew he was to be fired if we got swept? Switching the lineup and having Weeks on the bench were both drastic moves for him. I think DM and MA were both peeved at the way Ned used Durham. Why pick up a guy just to use as a pinch hitter? The Hall situation reeks too. He all of a sudden can hit right handed pitching?
  25. I love Quarter Pounders with cheese. But, an occasional Big Mac is good, if you take the pickle and extra bun out. I like the special sauce (thousand island) on it. Basically, it's a double cheeseburger with the thousand island dressing on it.
