  1. There's literally hundreds of scenarios that could happen. Here's a few "creative" ones from me. A 3-way deal with San Diego and San Francisco: Giants receive Hart and Suppan Padres get Cain and Escobar Brewers get Peavy A deal with Florida: Florida gets McGehee, Escobar, and Jeffress Brewers get Josh Johnson and Dan Uggla Straight up deal with Padres: Padres get Parra, Escobar, and Hart Brewers get Peavy and Kouzmanoff Giants straight up: Giants get Jeffress, Suppan, and Hart Brewers get Cain and Winn Red Sox: Red Sox get low level prospect Brewers get Penny Blue Jays: Blue Jays get Escobar, Lawrie, and Parra Brewers get Halladay
  2. And this guy is on National TV every week? Unreal. I've never liked the guy, probably never will. Pompous, arrogant, and ignorant is no way to go through life.
  3. Gamel could easily be our first base replacement for Prince in 3 years. Most of his errors are throwing errors, right?
  4. Probably get Uggla and Josh Johnson for Escobar and Jeffress. The Marlins should be selling soon....
  5. I like the Gamel idea. I also like the idea of signing Grudzielanek and playing him and Hall versus lefties.
  6. I say if you are sitting in the same level it's fine. A Uecker seat person should never sit in the lower deck. No reason for it. Dismissal for going down levels? I'm for it.
  7. The economics in the small market will make the Brewers trade Bush this offseason, IMO. Unless Suppan can be moved. To give a mid range pitcher a 4 year deal is not the way to go. If nothing else, let him go though the arby process and trade him before he's a free agent. Teams with a 80 million dollar payroll can't afford to pay all their starting pitchers 7-8 million per season. Yo is the one to lock up. The best thing that could happen to this team is a Yo extension through the first two years of free agency.
  8. Anybody know what Josh Johnson's contract status is??? There is where Escobar could go, with Ramirez taking third and Bonafacio on second base. Uggla is sure to be traded, if he gets his average back to respectability. Then sign Johnson to a long term deal. I know he's been hurt, but he is a bona fide ace. Escobar and Jeffress for Johnson?
  9. Downtown Vegas will always have a higher ratio of locals. Everything is cheaper there. I do like going downtown. Downtown is alot more like the downtown of any big city, except it's more well lit. If you stay on Fremont Street, you won't have many bums or beggers. Get off the main drag, and anything can happen, just like anywhere else. The downtown is alot more cozy and relaxed though. Doesn't feel like 100 cameras are staring at you, even though they are. And you have to see the light show once. My record is three and a half plastic footballs of Captain and Coke. Was feelin no pain.
  10. What would Al Bundy do? lol Enjoy the quiet. Teri took our daughter and her two sons to Arizona a couple of years ago. The peace and quiet was awesome. Use of the best TV anytime you want it is pretty sweet too.
  11. We usually stay at the NYNY when we go to Vegas. The girlfriend is a slot fiend, so we get comped pretty much anywhere we stay. We are gonna stay at the Hard Rock when we go next year. Teri's stepson is gonna be 21 and taking him with us is his birthday gift. The Hard Rock has unbelievable scenery, indoors and out. Also, check out the Carousel Bar at Harrah's. Expensive ($6 16 oz BudLights), but they have the best bartenders in the world there. You can search on youtube for "flair bartenders" and will be amazed at what they do there. A ton of fun. Both the piano bars at NYNY and Harrah's are alot of fun too. Have fun.
  12. I think the Orioles under is the lock. Playing in a division with TB, NY, Bos, and Toronto will make the Orioles fold mighty early. 65-97 ceiling with a 57-105 basement
  13. I don't know if it was your exact meaning and but this touches on a pet peeve of mine. Just because someone doesn't get up before 6 AM doesn't mean they are lazy or get nothing done or have nothing important to do.I seriously didn't mean to offend anyone with my statement. What I meant was that as you get older, responsibility comes flying at you faster than you are ready for it. I would love to sleep til even 9 AM everyday, but my responsibilities (and many other peoples) make me get up early. If you can do this while sleeping in, great for you. I have no problem with that. But have kids and you'll be in the same boat as many other people. It may be jealousy on my part, I was able to sleep late when I was younger.
  14. Good topic. I used to sleep until noon everyday when I was a full time bartender. Not anymore. I now own that bar and we open at 8AM. I do have a retired guy opening for me, but I'm usually there by 8:30 at the latest. Vendors and delivery people start showing up at 8. I have realized that as I get older, there are more things on my mind, that stress me out (business, daughter, step kids). So it seems that when I used to roll over at 6:30, I now have a list of things on my mind. Example: Had a roof leak at the bar last night, was there by 6:30 today, calling a repairman. No alarm, no nothing. Just hop out of bed, feeling like I'm behind even before I get up. So my guess is that the people that sleep in have nothing important to get up for. No early job, kids, dogs, etc. My advice to people that can sleep in? Do it while you can, it won't last forever.
  15. We could just have a manger that thinks out loud once in a while. Always seemed like, with Yost and Melvin together, that all information was on the down low and we were dealing with the CIA. Never got a straight answer, then Ned would chew somebody's head off for questioning him. I kinda like hearing a little "out loud thinking".
  16. The reason Redd was on the Olympic team is easy. He is a great shooter. When the big stars had the ball, they could kick it out to him. That was the only reason he was on the team. For a career comparison, I give you Reggie Miller. Wasn't particularly good at anything else. Considered a superstar, but really just a great shooter. Got to the Finals once, but had a good center and good point guard too.
  17. Who did the mmmm mmmm mmmm song? That would do the trick for me. I used to leave Animal Planet on the TV for my dogs. Others? Cowboy - Kid Rock Crazy B*tch - Buckcherry The End- The Doors- I actually like this song, but in very small doses. Thank God I'm a Country Boy- John Denver YMCA- Village People
  18. I think 2009 will be the final litmus test on what Rickie Weeks can do. If he does well, he may be the center fielder next year. If he doesn't, he may be traded or benched. Either way, the only way he's a second baseman next year is if Escobar or Hardy is the third baseman, which I don't see happening.
  19. Well, the Brewers should be. If he can throw in the low 90s consistently, he's a solid #3 or even a #2. He would teach the young pitchers to throw inside, and would mesh with our young Latin pitchers well. Even if he's terrible, a 6 million dollar mistake is not worse than last year's 10 million dollar mistake.
  20. Elton Brand, McGrady, Baron Davis, David West, Devin Harris, Nate Robinson, Kevin Durant, LaMarcus Aldrige, Camby, Mo Williams, Tony Parker, Ginobili, Bargnani, Richard hamilton, Billups, Turkeglu, Westbrook. I could even add more.
  21. Is that Melvinese? They probably have teams with salary problems calling them right now. This is the Yankees. They are opening a new stadium. They are not going with the garbage they have internally.
  22. Why not Hardy at SS and Escobar at second? Then if JJ leaves as a free agent, Escobar moves to short. We move Escobar and Hardy leaves, we look terrible. I have no problem with JJ not wanting to move. He is good defensively and Escobar would be a gold glove quality second baseman. It would drive me nuts to move Hardy and have a bad defensive second baseman throwing Escobar's would be double plays into the third row. And to anybody who compares this to Jeter not moving for Arod, this is way different. Jeter is the worst fielding shortstop in the majors, according to many people who do research on such things. Jeter not moving has hurt them every season since Arod has joined the Bombers. Very short sighted on his part.
  23. The big deal is that if Texas and Sheets have some sort of verbal agreement that he signs there after getting healthy, the Brewers should receive Texas' second round pick. Because their first round pick is protected. The Brewers would get a sandwich pick too. If any agreement is made, verbal or written, there should be some compensation.
  24. I personally have a problem with this. Jon Daniels says there is no connection to the Rangers and Sheets, and that his training in Arlington is purely coincidental. I have a feeling that they are waiting for the deadline on first round compensation to sign Sheets. Not sure what the date is, but if Sheets signs with Texas after he gets healthy, I would file a complaint to the commisioner's office. Seems quite fishy to me. -------------------- Moderator's Note: The old Sheets Watch Part 2 thread hadn't been posted to for about a month, so this will be the start of a new Sheets Watch. This topic is now included in the Designated Threads List. Previous (locked) Sheets watch threads: Sheets watch; Sheets watch, Part 2. --1992 --------------------
  25. Never thought Fallon was great on SNL, but he was moderately amusing. Getting DeNiro is a coup. He does not do many talk shows at all. Timberlake was outstanding. Off topic- Justin Timberlake is one of the funniest and most talented people in show business. It's funny, I'll watch anything he's on, except his music videos. I can't stand his music.
