  1. If Monty is a possibility (and probably not since he reportedly wants a 7 year deal), then yes. For the others? Not worth it.
  2. My apologies but has Ortiz played any third base this spring? My casual checking of the box scores has not seen it.
  3. My question is this: Who is our starting 3B at this point? I haven't paid close attention to Spring lineups (not that it would really matter). If Frelick can play 3B well, that would help the outfield problem obviously.
  4. Not surprising. At this point (unless someone wants to overpay), you go with Willy for this season. If you are out of it at the deadline and some team wants to offer more then the draft pick, you trade him. If not, you offer the QO in the offseason, take the pick and move on.
  5. C - Contreras, Sanchez IF - Hoskins, Turang, Adames, Ortiz, Monasterio, Bauers OF - Yelich, Chourio, Frelick, Mitchell, Perkins SP - Peralta, Miley, Junis, Hall, Rea, Ross RP - Wilson, Peguero, Megill, Milner, Payamps, Uribe, Williams
  6. Part of me says this is just speculation, the other part of me says there are a lot of guys that have to eventually sign so why not us. I would expect a 2 year deal with a buyout after year one with a decent amount of deferrals.
  7. Only yes if they are worried about Miley's health (quite possible). Otherwise I am still on spending money to sign Belt train.
  8. Yes I am sure reading the book would have helped. On the way out I heard the people in front of us saying "*** was that?" It looks like there will be another one and I'll give it a chance when it comes out.
  9. I went to see Dune 2 today. The cinematography and acting were excellent. The story itself was really awful. It jumped all over the place and generally was a hodgepodge. I really enjoyed the first one but this one kinda sucked.
  10. Chapman to the Giants, 3 years an 54 million with opt outs after the first two years. I wonder if that's going to be a new thing moving forward with free agents.
  11. Belt at a one year, 6 million dollar contract is a no brainer. I know the team thinks they found something with Bauers but Belt would be a great RHP DH and backup 1B.
  12. Competent coaching>Griff
  13. Thanks to the mods of this forum.
  14. I'd love to see the source for this
  15. I guess he might have a stronger arm than Madrigal, I'll give you that.
  16. Clarke is.... bad defensively at catcher. Sorry Clancy, it's not happening.
  17. Black with some nice plays but that arm is well below average for a 3B.
  18. I think it could be as simple as we have much less options to play 3B at the moment vs 2B.
  19. Cooper to the Cubs on a minor league deal, surprising to me. Still lots of guys available.
  20. I'd be fine bringing back Lauer on a minor league deal but that's about it.
  21. Could easily be wrong but I am hoping he is like Haase in that if you can't find a better alternative, you have him as a "break glass in case of emergency" guy.
  22. I thought we would be done after the Sanchez signing. However, the last two signings (Rosario and Urshela) make me think the team will sign another guy at a low cost. I have shifted my hopes from Soler to Belt. I do not want to see a lot of Bauers this year if it can be helped.
  23. If you are going to experiment with this, you do it right away. Spring Training is very long.
