  1. Chubb screaming in pain so loudly that you could clearly hear it on TV makes my stomach sick.
  2. 2023 Update: Invested in the same funds weekly. Also had a decent amount at my brokerage making 5% for uninvested funds. YTD: up 10.55% Overall: 9.39% Before I was looking at purchasing rental properties and now I am in the process of selling them. Priorites have changed and I do not want the headaches anymore. I plan on taking any money I get from the rentals and throwing it in an index fund.
  3. After some additional thought, my view on this trade will change depending on how the payroll flexibility is used/not used. If we use this to improve the team, then I am okay with it. If this was truly a payroll dump on a rebuilding year, then I am not a big fan.
  4. If this extra payroll flexibility is used to improve the roster, I am okay with it. Example, signing Santana and picking up a guy like Polanco. If we just dumped these guys, then I would have rather traded them at the deadline if this was the market.
  5. I feel like a signing of Santana is going to happen after this
  6. Fine with trading these two guys but wish they would have gotten more.
  7. Fine for a backup catcher. I didn't want the team to invest much $ in the position.
  8. Good luck with your search
  9. Not sure it will be enough to win that crappy division but none of these are super long deals which can't hurt them too much.
  10. I am sure you are frustrated but we are still pretty much in the easiest time period to find a job ever. If it were me, I would be looking in a different industry or something with lower pay than what I earned at my prior job after 3 months but everyone's situation is different.
  11. If I had a $1 for all of the bears that told me to "just wait!", I would retire. All of them that predicted doom this year and gloom have been hilariously wrong and they just keep pushing their predictions out until they will eventually be correct. I will not be concerned until unemployment goes up dramatically. That may happen but we are far from that.
  12. The market went crazy today on the fed signaling three cuts in 2024. Sorry Bears, you lose again.
  13. It's still pretty cheap to eat at home but sit down restaurants have gotten crazy expensive when you consider tips. My gf and I ate breakfast at I-hop and it was $40 with tip with eating things on their "specials" list. I have been eating at home more often which is probably a lot better for my health anyways.
  14. I am excited for season 2 of Reacher. You know exactly what you are going to get from it and that is okay with me. Season 1 was pretty good.
  15. If the Padres want to dump him (they very well may have to) and add a real prospect, I would have interest. Something like: Padres: Burnes and Mitchell Brewers: Cronenworth, Merrill and Snelling
  16. Caratini started that many games because our DH production was awful and he was having a nice season with the bat. Garver only appeared in 87 games all of last season and was backing up a young all-star catcher. (sounds familiar) When Garver likely hits the IL, then you call up a catcher.
  17. I mean he was catching last season so I don't know why that would be assumed. WC is a young guy that can catch a lot so a backup catcher wouldn't even get that many games. If we had a great backup catcher in the system, I would agree that he would be the 3rd catcher but we don't. I would prefer to not have Henry or Navarreto on the OD roster.
  18. Garver would be okay if the amount of years is 2 or less. He has been a good hitter so I would prefer him to be mostly a DH and a very occasional backup catcher. He grades out poorly defensively but our PD system seems to do magic there so maybe we could get him to be better.
  19. I like Candelario but not for that price. While this helps the Reds, it also hurts the Cubs so oh well.
  20. That assumes a few things: 1. He's healthy 2. He's pitching well 3. That certain teams don't value the QO pick which they wouldn't get if he doesn't start the season with them. Then what happens if we are a fringe playoff team and have to make the tough decision. Trading him is the logical choice.
  21. Kelenic to the Braves in a salary dump trade.
  22. Yep, borderline at best.... they would never call that on a HM.
  23. This would be great. The Brewers clearly managed his innings/pitches but he was very effective when he pitched.
  24. How many times does Justin Turner need to use us as leverage before you realize he isn't interested?
