  1. Let's just ignore the fact that you can't trade a Competitive Balance pick more than once and examine your trade idea. According to BTV, it has Henderson at 104.1 and the package we would be sending the O's at 41.90. To put that in perspective, you would need to nearly add an Ozzie Albies' worth of value to make this fair.
  2. I am assuming those kind of decisions are dictacted by the front office.
  3. They haven't traded Joey Wiemer and half of this site can't spell his name correctly so no.
  4. This is a good value signing. I am guessing this offer has been on the table for a while. One thing to note is that SF's defense was bad so our hopefully good defense should help him more. No issue with adding him to the #3-6 group.
  5. Happy for Royals fans, they don't have much to hang their hat on other than Witt.
  6. In around 300 abs, Yelich has hit very poorly when being a DH. I also believe he mentioned he wasn't comfortable with it either. I think he will ultimately be a full timer there but I would be surprised if it is this season. Career: 80 wRC+ as DH versus 124 wRC+ as LF With as many young guys as we have, I would want a vet that has proven can hit as a DH. Soler (apparently I am trying to will this into existence) as DH 2021-2023: 2021: 113 wRC+ 2022: 131 wRC+ 2023: 122 wRC+
  7. The same Cubs that haven't added anyone of note and one of their better players from 2023 is still a free agent?
  8. This is 100% true. There are a lot of guys available that could help us with that money. If they pocket that money, I will be very annoyed.
  9. The Burnes trade is done and if you believe Arnold, we are still planning on competing in 2024. We have to assume that we can use Burnes' salary (15.6 mil) to improve the team. Miami would be a good team to trade with as they have a couple of intriguing younger pitchers that they might part with and a huge need at shortstop. Marlins: Brice Turang, Freddy Zamora and Round B Comp Balance Pick Brewers: Edward Cabrera This would give the Brewers another young and cost controlled pitcher. The Marlins have a lot of great starting pitching but absolutely nothing for a shortstop (seriously, take a look). Turang can provide value defensively and hopefully progress with the bat. Free agent signing: Jorge Soler, 2 years and 30 million. (similiar setup to Hoskins, 12 mil the first year with a player option and buyout) Free agent signing: Donovan Solano, 1 year and 6 million Lineup LF Yelich C Contreras 1B Hoskins DH Soler SS Adames CF Mitchell/Chourio 3B Solano/Black RF Frelick 2B Ortiz Bench: Haase, Monasterio, Perkins, Solano/Black Lots of versality with this group. Solano would be like old friend Hernan Perez playing all over the diamond. This would allow some extra time for Black and Ortiz to get their feet wet in the majors. We would have a lot more power and the best up the middle defense in MLB. If Soler is too expensive, maybe bring in Gary Sanchez for one year. Rotation Peralta Miley Cabrera Rea Hall Ross Bullpen Williams, Payamps, Peguero, Milner, Megill, Uribe, Wilson The rotation isn't nearly as good as in year's past but hopefully we will have a more balanced approach with a better lineup. With Gasser, Rodriguez, and Ashby in AAA, we are setup once inevitiably someone gets hurt or is ineffective. This team would have a good chance of making the playoffs and would be setup to contend in future years as well.
  10. The Marlins aren't a rich team and need cost controlled players. If they need a controllable shortstop, how about this? Marlins: Turang and a lotto ticket Brewers: Cabrera
  11. Not opposed to the team or the idea of getting MLB pitching back but not really interested in Rogers as a headliner for Willy and Wiemer.
  12. Maybe Soler is a real possibility (logically could be the "mystery" team) and Arnold took the trade to clear the payroll space.
  13. According to Arnold, expect Hall in the rotation.
  14. Trade Willy and then take that 28 million to sign a couple of free agents, that would be getting nuts
  15. Where is Ortiz going to play? Is he a 3rd baseman on our current roster or a 2nd baseman? Or does this mean Willy is getting traded soon. There is a lot to unpack here.
  16. Well we traded Houser and Taylor which led to signing Hoskins. If this leads to a free agent acquisition or two, I will be okay with it. There are a lot of guys we could get with 15 million. Now if this deal was done to afford Rhys, I will be annoyed and confused.
  17. With the success of the pitching lab, I would shy away from investing a ton of prospect capital on established names unless the value is there.
  18. I thought the same thing with Murray. Soler would be an awesome pickup for our lineup. Hoskins and Soler would add a ton of more power to a lineup that lacked it in 2023.
