  1. I didn't include bowl games because, personally, I think the results can be real fluky and not meaningful. I am sure the college cares a bunch for money reasons...but I don't. I didn't include LSU because we all know Lambeau was a home game. Iowa? Nebraska? Good wins, but hardly a major accomplishment. We go into nearly every one of those games favored to win. Yeah, this is pretty absurd selectivism. Other than the quality wins that you've determined don't meet your randomly and subjectively applied criteria, they have no quality wins.
  2. Were there games did King not finish of the games he started? Of the 3 games he missed, one was due to the flu. I think it’s a stretch to equate a non- football injury that teams flagged medically with ‘injury prone’ when he didn’t really miss many games in college. But to say he had injury concerns because of the shoulder is fair. Perhaps I’m debating semantics, but the shoulder didn’t effect King’s career at Washington.
  3. He played 38 of 41 games his three years as a starter in Washington.... calling him injury prone in college is a bit of a stretch.
  4. I don't think this claim is any less of reactionary, incorrect hyperbole than it was yesterday..... The "three-loss" Badger team that played in the Pinstripe Bowl last year actually was 7-5. The Pinstripe Bowl is the 7th-ranked Big Ten Bowl. If you think there are 6 Big Ten teams that will be better than Wisconsin at the end of the year, I think your thinking is incorrect.
  5. Back to the overreacting....
  6. Lots of blame to go around for that one. Wow.
  7. Literally his first fumble of the year more than halfway through, yet he’s a fumbler.... Have you watched his freshman and sophomore years? Have you heard of player progression and development? Happens a lot in college football....
  8. Literally his first fumble of the year more than halfway through, yet he’s a fumbler....
  9. I’d suggest not over reacting as everyone typically does.
  10. Clearly got caught looking ahead. Need to finish this one out and clean things up.
  11. The Packers did sign veteran WR Ryan Grant today. No, not that Ryan Grant.
  12. I think the discussion in the catcher thread has me sufficiently convinced that the only way this team can maintain a good lineup is to re-sign Grandall, which means that they only way the Brewers have enough $$ to upgrade pitching is by having Arcia return and banking on a breakout. He's not super cheap anymore, but the 1-2 million he makes is probably the difference in signing a RP or not relative to other, slightly less crappy SS options.
  13. The KC game is scary to me regardless because Arrowhead has always been a house of horrors for the Packers, or at least that's my perception. Obviously, the Packers don't play there very often, but it wouldn't surprise me if their record there in the Favre-Rodgers era was like 1-5. Edit: Looked it up, 1-3 @ KC, 2-4 vs. the Cheifs overall since '92.
  14. Seems logical that Cincy would listen on AJ Green. Not sure about guys that know the Shanahan-based offense, though.
  15. Mariota officially benched for Ryan Tannehill. Don’t reach for your QB’s out of desperation, NFL GMs.
  16. Michael Bennett has been suspended a game for getting into a "disagreement" with our old friend Bret Bielema. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/27853147/patriots-suspend-michael-bennett-detrimental-conduct
  17. Isn't that exactly what he was trying to do when evaluating the value of the players' future performance relative to the dollars that would be paid to them in the future, though?
  18. Related question: Growing up, my Dad used to mute the TV and listen to Jim & Max on the radio. I know they changed the TV delay post Janet Jackson nipple-gate, which made this completely out of sync. Anyone have any suggestions for how to do radio (or streaming) and have it lineup ok with the TV feed? It feels like avoiding the TV idiots is more necessary every season, IMO.
  19. Following another great game from the Smiths last night, I went back and dug up this critical writeup of their signings from ESPN.com: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/26152205/barnwell-2019-nfl-free-agency-trade-grades-tracking-every-big-signing-move Does anyone ever go back and hold these 'experts' accountable for their takes? The Smiths have been astoundingly good moves for the Packers thus far, and have helped this defense go from laughable to solid enough to win a lot of football games. This really was a vital offseason for the Packers, and the early returns have been glowing.
  20. Nope, you're the proud owner of post 371 and 393.
  21. Great post. I think the issue is, Booger's looking at something like the hands to the face and screaming about it based on his concept of what the penalty should be, not the idea that there's a valid rulebook-based backing of how the umpire could see it that way. The fact that 'referee expert' John Parry also seemed to struggle with the rulebook last night doesn't make ESPN's production look real great. The reality is, in any game there are calls that can go either way. The issue is that there were like 6 of those last night and all but one went against Detroit.
  22. This. I think the issue overall is, there are some things that have literally always been a gray area- there's offensive holding on most plays, there's illegal defensive contact on a lot of pass plays, etc. The stuff last night in a couple of ways has added subjectivity to some things that used to be fairly cut-and-dried, and the new way they're handling this the past couple of years has made it a pervasive problem throughout the league and on many, many different types of penalties. Here's the actual defensive hands to the face rule, directly from the rule book: It is a foul if a defensive player thrusts his hands or arms forward above the frame of an opponent to forcibly contact him on the neck, face, or head. Did that happen last night to the letter of that rule? Yep. Historically, is that called that way? Nope. And if it had been called once, it certainly wouldn't have happened twice. So why the difference? That seems to be the key here. You've had A LOT of long-time referees that were acceptably good at their jobs retire over the past 3-5 seasons, and these new guys just seem bad at it.
  23. I am not sure you understand the definition of a 'hot take' or what a person's 'grill' is. It isn't a hot take nor was his hand in his grill. But much like I can, you can have your opinion. I'll stand by my calling your post a hot take.... feel free to google the definition yourself if you'd like to confirm. And grill is probably liberal use on my part, so I'll modify that to "hand in his head or neck area."
  24. Valid calls by rule that the "offensive lineman flopped for?" Come on, man. That's a really bad hot take. I dunno, seems pretty valid to me. And this is doubling-down on a really bad hot take. Implying that Bahk is trying to draw that call is absurd. He's putting his head back like any human being would when someone has their hand in your grill.
  25. Valid calls by rule that the "offensive lineman flopped for?" Come on, man. That's a really bad hot take.
