  1. Jayrone Elliott traded to Dallas for a 7th, Gilbert & Callahan to the practice squad.
  2. Taysom Hill to the Saints' active roster.... surprising. Brian Price to the Cowboys. And the Packers have claimed DE Chris Odom from Atlanta.
  3. I wonder if the Packers would take a look at a veteran o-lineman cut today like John Greco to serve as a multi-position interior line backup if a guy like Barclay isn't going to be able to go right out of the gate. Eric Winston was released by the Bengals as well, who could provide depth at OT if we're not comfortable with the Spriggs/Murphy combo.
  4. I think this is said with the benefit of hindsight.... we were in pretty good shape at the break, then won our first series afterward. Noone knew at that time that losing the last game of that series would be the start of the massive slide of the next couple of weeks. I don't think anyone was sitting here on July 15th thinking that massive moves needed to be made right then and there. I started the Kinsler thread on July 18. Many others were ready to move on from Villar, especially from leadoff spot. One trade proposal after the slide began doesn't really support your claim, especially when, as others have noted, Kinsler didn't perform well in July, and also doesn't pitch. The trade this team should have made was the Madson/Doolittle trade on July 16th, which could have solidified the bullpen sooner and potentially swung some of the late inning losses into our favor. But again, that's with the benefit of hindsight.

  6. I'd much rather entertain something like that if we're going to look at a 'salary dump' trade. Fulmer is an arm that we could build our rotation around going forward, and I'd be thrilled to get him in a deal. Zimmerman's contract is horrendous, but would be worth it to get Fulmer. Zimmerman really did fall off a cliff after he signed his big deal. Two bad years in Detroit after a very good career to that point. He's still only 31, so maybe a pen move might re-kindle some usefulness?
  7. I agree that I'm not sure that Williams is enough to address the position to the point that we should be comfortable heading to camp. There are still alternative options available, though with their own issue, namely Charles and Blount. There's also a lot of chatter today about the Bengals making Jeremy Hill available, and that might be worth exploring.
  8. Value chart says you could trade our remaining fourth and our trade-able fifth to move up and get a guy like Perine in the late one hundred-teens here. If you came away with him after drafting a guy like Biegel, you'd have to feel pretty great about the things you've addressed this weekend.
  9. My intriguing players for this round are Lawson, DE, Clemson, Perine, and Biegel. Biegel may be a bit of a homer pick, but he is the best OLB still available, per ESPN, and certainly passes the eye test from his time at Wisconsin. Dorian Johnson, G, Pitt might be great value here and has the making of a typical TT gem OL pick that becomes a starter out of the 4th round.
  10. Not saying I expect him to work out or not work out. In fact, odds are that at least one of the three taken today are flops, and he would be the most likely bet.
  11. This I can agree with to some degree. In a draft that had a pretty good quantity of backs in the 2nd/3rd level behind the top 2, it's surprising we didn't come away with one of them. Perine is the only one left I would consider in the 4th. Beyond that, there are a bunch of Corey Clement types that we could take a flier on in the 6th/7th, but won't be likely to be significant contributors.
  12. That's not really true- only three times in the last eight drafts. Again, Adams is a potentially disruptive d-lineman. Yes, a Harold Green type is sufficient to get the job done at NT, but guys like Clark and Adams are potentially more productive, and as hybrid players can rotate in at End as well.
  13. Adams' explosiveness is amazing. Still two pretty glaring holes to fill, plus a less glaring one to maybe throw a body at (OG). Good thing we historically pull talent out of the 4th and have a bunch of picks there.
  14. Nice pick.... if they kept it, I was hoping for King.
  15. Hopefully more comes in about the other teams that met their standard.... If the Mets met the minimum standard, you'd have to think their package must include Rosario.
  16. His name came up regarding Smith to SF a couple of weeks ago, IIRC, not Lucroy.
  17. That seems like a 'where there's smoke, there's fire' thing.... wonder if its done, but yet to be announced?
  18. If you do end up being correct, I would prefer that they hang on to Luc and try to deal him in the offseason rather than settling for a crappy deal with the Mets or the like.....
  19. Proven AAA players? Lottery tickets? Really guys, it doesn't have to be one or the other, especially with Cleveland. Both Frazier and Zimmer are in AAA and likely to be up to contribute in 2018, aka the first potentially competitive-ish season for the Brewers. Snag one of those two as the centerpiece of the deal, then supplement with highly-rated A/A+ ball guys like we've also discussed here, and you have a very happy medium that infuses talent into the low-mid-and high levels of the organization.
  20. I would very much like to get in on the 'Dave Stewart makes silly trades' thing that the Braves have figured out. Miller is 25, and had 3 great seasons before derailing this year....
  21. It's not that I'm not a fan of or don't like Diaz, it's just that Lucroy is probably our best chance to infuse quality pitching into our system. If we're not grabbing a top pitching prospect, I'd prefer us to get two very good ones rather than one and two position players.
  22. I'd much rather get a second arm rather than a guy like Diaz. If we do end up with a second position prospect, I'd much prefer it to be Mejia.
  23. The complete implosion of Garza after such a good 2014 season here is one of the more mystifying things about the Brewers over the past two years.
  24. Big day for the Badgers today- a win should remove any doubt about being in the Tourney, and probably starts the debate about whether a 7-8 is actually too low. I think they're already exceeding expectations in a 'rebuilding year', as someone previously noted. My remaining goals for this team are in this order: 1) Make the NCAA Tourney 2) Play at least two games in the B1G Tourney for experience 3) Get off the 8/9 line for second round match-up purposes 4) Play at least two games in the NCAA tourney for experience and Stretch 5) Make it to the second NCAA weekend 5 would be a huge accomplishment considering where this team was in January and what was expected of them. Simply accomplishing 1,2, and 4 gives this young team a wealth of valuable preparation for what should set them up for a potentially great season in 2016/17.
  25. They're almost a lock after tonight, with Minnesota being the only possible way I think they could mess it up (we can't afford any additional 'bad' losses). A loss vs. Michigan makes it tough if it becomes an us vs. them scenario, but I still think we get in if we lose two of our last three.
