  1. Pretty excited about the roster right now- All of your starters are 25 or under and full of talent, and the bench has a nice mix of veterans and youth/potential. Obviously a couple more moves to come, but this was a nice splash for the Bucks (and always nice to beat out LA and NY for a big free agent).
  2. Yeah, I'm not sure where the 'the Brewers won't listen to offers on Segura' stuff is coming from. Even if it's been mentioned in an article I missed, the Brewers' front office has a long history of saying that they're 'not interested in moving so-and-so' followed by a trade of that player less than a week later. The Lucroy comment in the article yesterday seemed to me to be Tom writing his opinion, but I certainly could be wrong.
  3. Sorry, I don't follow. If what you're talking about is trading for "proven" talent that is 'MLB ready' or established, that's exactly what Melvin has done in his tenure here, rather than trading for unproven, highly-ranked prospects. Yeah, there have been some trades for the likes of Capellan or de la Rosa (who also were in the upper levels of the minors and made their MLB debuts quickly) but far more have been for younger, MLB ready assets like Segura, Capuano, Gomez, etc when he's traded a proven commodity.
  4. Any deal with Toronto that targets Norris seems to be a good starting point, in my opinion. Pentecost is probably a tough one to include due to the injury, but I don't think the original deal is unfair for us.
  5. He certainly seems intriguing- 3 very good years at Coors with a mediocre one sandwiched in there, before being bad last year and cut at the end of spring training. And he's 27. Probably more of a legitimate possibly contributor than a guy like Dominguez, considering his actual history of Major League success. Considering his decent AAA numbers before optioning out, he seems worth a look. Though I think TheCrew07's point of just letting Cravy or Jungmann pitch is a fair point as well, but if they move Lohse and Garza we'd have more spots to fill.
  6. I don't think a 2018 target is unreasonable. We've had a significant talent infusion to the system from the last couple of drafts + international signings, and the Gallardo trade. I'm not expecting much other than salary relief/fringe guys for our in-season trades, but our offseason trades will likely bring talent as well, so that will likely put us ahead of the 5-year rebuilds that the Astros and Cubs have gone through. 2016 is a lost cause and likely 2017, but I could see a Bucks-like marked improvement in 2017/18 with a shot at the playoffs thereafter. But your second point is completely fair- they need to identify who is likely to still be an actual contributor in that 2018-ish window and should be willing to trade anyone that won't be. I'm fine if they don't do it now or in July, but I'd certainly hope that we see the Gomez/Segura combo moved between now and next Spring.
  7. Yeah, I don't get the issue that some are having on this either, as it seems almost a sure bet for Wang to clear waivers. If they do lose him, that's another story. Otherwise, it doesn't seem worth worrying about the Rule V at this point. If this works, you free up a 40-man spot for a guy that fits the exact mold of who we should be looking at for the rest of the year while keeping Wang at least through the end of this year, giving the powers that be 3 more months to evaluate whether he's worth protecting in the Rule V or not. If they decide he's not worth protecting, I'm not sure another team will be willing to use a roster spot on him next year anyway.
  8. Ended up with a bat that unexpectedly fell to us, plus two higher ranked pitchers that slid due to minor-ish injuries. Seems like a decent strategy to snag some value, especially with the arms.
  9. Yeah, feels like we could have stole one there if he fell 3 more slots.
  10. Why the heck is Betts falling? This is a guy that many predicted to us at #15.
  11. ACC Pitcher of the Year last year as a Sophomore, sidelined with a lat strain 7 weeks this year.
  12. Per the coverage, 3 plus pitches, but he lost some control making the switch to starter.
  13. The Astros finally take the plunge on Daz.
  14. Hoping for Betts at this point, I think.
  15. The Angels celebrating that Taylor Ward was available to overdraft?
  16. I'm oddly interested in Nikorak as well...
  17. This is not fact yet. There's still the possibility that he'll be traded for something to help offset the loss of the pick.
  18. I won't disagree with you about the lineup, and obviously it was our home-grown position players that drove the team's success from 2007 to now, but I did specify "Jack Z's poor drafting of pitching." Considering that Sheets and Gallardo were the only two starters that Jack drafted that stuck in the majors in ten drafts, I stand by my point.
  19. This I agree with. The Brewers are where they are now in no small part due to Jack Z.'s poor drafting of pitching and Bruce Seid's (rip) poor drafting of almost everything, sad to say.
  20. The only way Mark's appearance is noteworthy or relevant is if he's coming to give his authorization to retool/reset for 2016/17.
  21. Then how about it at least stays out of a thread where it isn't the point? I think that was more to Ennder's comment. Complaining about the Marcum trade or how we didn't trade Ramirez 2 years ago isn't productive to the discussion about how to fix where we are now.
