  1. I think the Brewers and the JS article bragging about high ticket sales probably scared some people away. I always thought it was best not to say anything in order to not scare people away. But if the tickets were already sold, they would have been scared away from using tickets they already had. Unless ticket brokers purchased huge chunks of tickets for last night's game or something, because as casey said, there were whole sections in the Terrace last night that were empty.
  2. Wow, on the 4th page and no love for Eric Young yet?
  3. Sherrill is definitely a better option than a guy like Mota as jackalope said. And if the Orioles are really scouting our AAA team, their expected return can't be all that high, as there's nothing in AAA right now that I would hesitate to part with.
  4. CC is so awesome that when Hardy hit the HR to give us the 1-0 lead, I was seriously thinking that might be all we need...
  5. The Reds are checking out Mr Street. I sincerely hope they give up a ton of young talent to get him then, too. Maybe they just want another underachiever so Coco doesn't feel lonely in that role.
  6. I believe both Jim Powell and Brian Anderson confirmed that Parra was ineligible for ROTY because of something trivial like 2 days of service time.
  7. It literally feels like we stole that one, and it feels absolutely wonderful. CC and Sheets to go, a series win is looking quite likely.
  8. Nice to see Soup keeping up where he left off. Ugh.
  9. I'm just happy dad doesn't use my old Weeks comment as his signature. I was actually thinking about that around the time of the Durham trade- I'd imagine you feel fairly vindicated at this point.
  10. Cool, thanks for the info guys.
  11. I know this has probably been asked many times before, but what time do the lots open for Friday games?
  12. While it's probably true, I find it hard to believe that Durham can be worse than Weeks defensively.
  13. First road sweep since 2004. Not sure if that is better put here or the vent thread.
  14. Bill- "Brian Wilson's not the kind of guy that'll blow you away with a fastball." ...as Wilson is hitting 97 on the radar.
  15. McCalvy at brewers.com confirms a deal is in the works: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080720&content_id=3160400&vkey=news_mil&fext=.jsp&c_id=mil
  16. Branyan missed the bag there for sure.
  17. Is this a page out of Dusty Baker's book on how to destroy young arms? As bad as Braun has looked in this AB, I still predict he is going yard. Wow, great call!
  18. The guy has two walks in the inning, the bases are loaded, and he's thrown 6 straight balls. Swinging away on a 2-0 count seems pretty freaking dumb.
  19. Now the big question becomes who goes down when Suppan comes off the DL. Yeah, my biggest problem with a Ford/Hammond for just Durham deal might be that not acquiring Taschner probably keeps Mota on the roster for a while longer.
  20. Interesting that TH hasn't updated his blog to at least indicate that Taschner is not in the deal. Maybe he still is. ? His most recent post says: So, here's the latest word: The Brewers are just getting Giants second baseman Ray Durham, not reliever Jack Taschner. http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/07/20/it-s-just-durham.aspx
  21. I'm guessing there'll be more to this, like salary picked up or a PTBNL or something on the SF side. Ford and Hammond seems like a lot to give for half a season of Ray Durham.
  22. Tom comments on the Buster report, and confirms that Ford and Hammond have been told they're in the deal: http://blogs.jsonline.com/brewers/archive/2008/07/20/deal-supposedly-done.aspx
  23. If Salome is rumored to be going in the San Fran deal, there is no way LuCroy will be going anywhere one would think, no? I would think that's correct- if Salome is traded, I can't see any way we'd give up LuCroy as well.
  24. Sabean can't be that dumb, can he? To trade Cain for Salome? The guy is one of the best young pitchers in baseball. Well, if they're trying to get Salome involved in a deal for Taschner and Durham, it implies that either Sabean really doesn't think that highly of Salome after all, or that his sense of relative player values is way out of whack. I know which one of those options I think is the case.... It's somewhat hard to believe Durham has been in SF for 5 seasons already- I was somewhat surprised that he's a 10-and-5 guy.
  25. If they want Salome, we should want Cain. Seems like a larger deal might be feasible.
