  1. Tavarez huh? Interesting decision to use him in a tie game like this... Yeah, not thrilling. But I suppose there's really no one left with Dillard and DiFelice going last night, as they're probably the last out of the pen tonight.
  2. While it looks like that may have been the right call, I think that shows that when a play is that far away from the closest umpire, it's nothing more than complete guesswork on their part. Bring on replay.
  3. The legend of Russell Branyan. Holy crap.
  4. Yeah, the umpires seem to be doing their best this year to remove the doubters. Umpiring has been an abomination this year, and I think something needs to be done. That said, they should probably wait until next spring, rather than doing anything mid-season.
  5. Since they violated protocol, it's almost certain the family will sue. Yep: http://www.channel3000.com/news/16601400/detail.html
  6. If memory serves me correctly, don't the Brewers almost always wait to announce the signing of their first round draft pick until they are at home? I believe you are correct. I think there were rumors last year that LaPorta had signed, but they waited quite a while to announce it because they were on a road trip.
  7. My sister in Oshkosh saw a parked car floating down their river-er, street in Oshkosh tonight. Lots of heavy rain tonight in the Madison area- I was out during the tornado warnings tonight- sounds like multiple spotters confirmed a tornado on the ground in the Deerfield (near Cambridge/Lake Mills) area around 6:30 or so tonight.
  8. Brewerfan is reporting that Fredrickson and Dykstra have both agreed to terms.
  9. He's the one bringing in the likes of Tavarez, Gagne, Mota, Cameron, etc. this season. A few good trades and signings from years back are saving him, in my mind, from fan's criticism now. Never mind that he also brought in Torres, Kendall, Kapler, and Branyan, who have all far surpassed expectations to this point. And Mota has actually probably exceeded expectations to this point as well, since most predicted him to be completely useless.
  10. See bucksman4's post above. Who would you have gone to there Peavey? Villanueva, without a doubt. He's been rock solid, and since the pitcher's spot had just cleared, he could give multiple innings. Tavarez should be the last arm out of the bullpen.
  11. Seriously some are going to try and hang this on Ned for a bad pinch hit choice? How about terrible defense? He doesn't lose EVERY game... How about putting Tavarez in during a one run game when everyone in the pen is available in the first place? His bullpen usage is so random, I'm really starting to think he just calls the first name that pops into his head.
  12. McClung is removing any questions at this point. He's actually looking promising in his starts, while Weaver is being mediocre in AAA.
  13. I seriously think Ned does this stuff just to mess with us. With a completely rested bullpen, I can't think that one of our 3125 members here would have put Tavarez in this one-run game. It's just astounding.
  14. Road to Perdition was the first to come to mind in that category for me as well. The Untouchables as well.
  15. Wasn't the IGT down until we lost again? No. People couldn't live without the IGT, and it was back up the next night. And I think we lost. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  16. I didn't really see that myself, OSS. Melvin denied that they were specifically scouting Roberts, but he never really denied that they were interested. He never really even denied anything in Rosenthal's initial report, at least in what Tom has on the blog unless I'm missing something. In actuality, he confirmed that the team actually did have discussions with the Orioles about Roberts in the spring (though they never really got off the ground).
  17. Always take the ferry. If you caulk, your car will tip over and you'll lose most of your stuff and half the people in your car. If you ford, your freaking oxen will drown every time. Not sure why you have oxen attached to your car in the first place, though. Looks like we're finally nearing the end of today's rain. More tomorrow and Tuesday, it seems.
  18. You know you're horrifically unprepared for weather issues when you spend the first five minutes of a power outage having to use your cell phone's radiant glow to get upstairs to the closet to dig out the flashlight, which promptly runs out of power after five minutes of usage, then have to fire up the laptop to be used as a source of light. Clearly, I'm either very resourceful, or an overly tech-reliant dingus.
  19. why would Jack Z come here for draft stuff? Am i missing something? I was thinking maybe Jack would come by to see how we reacted to the picks or something considering we're pretty into the draft coverage and that is pretty widely known - like I said, pretty doubtful, but who knows?
  20. Lost power tonight after the main storms rolled through- wind must have blown something down, but it was fortunately relatively short. Looks like another band is headed this way from northern Illinois tonight as well.....
  21. Looks like this round is going stay mostly north of Dane county Boy, spoke too soon on that one. Just in the last hour this storm has expanded big time.
  22. How is it possible that Brown Sugar and Cinnamon Pop Tarts have more fat than Chocolate Fudge Pop Tarts?
  23. Looks like this round is going stay mostly north of Dane county, but the Dells have been battered pretty big this weekend. Looking at the radar, it looks like this storm tonight is big and intense again and the Dells are right in the middle of it.
  24. It's kind of astounding how this team goes on the road and it seems like they've never played in the field before. And every bobble or error seems to cost us a run.
  25. The Brewers have signed 24th rounder Brandon Ritchie- always nice to see the Brewers win out on guys with options regardless of round.
