  1. Weird. But I can live with one hitter- if he'd have pitched the inning, I'd be pretty ticked off.
  2. This might seriously be the worst decision Yost has made, and that's saying something.
  3. Holy freaking crap, he's back out there?
  4. Let's not make this the first transaction thread ever to be locked, please.
  5. Nice inning. At 105 pitches, we got the 6 innings we needed for Ben and he looked MUCH improved from his first outing back- time to call it a day.
  6. Hey Kendall, maybe after the first two mistakes trying to get Berkman on the inside corner, you'd figure out that it's not such a good idea. Grrrr.
  7. Mike Cameron is a nice addition to the lineup.
  8. Sheets was safe there.... another close call goes against us incorrectly. How many of those have we had at the plate the last two years?
  9. 2nd career extra base hit. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. Yeah, I think they had Weeks if they try him at home, but I guess you take the sure out when you can get it. Sheets looking MUCH sharper early on.
  11. Wow, the game is actually on TV today? Did UCLA have the day off or something?
  12. At this point, I'd assemble a package of prospects headed by Gamel and see what is to be had. I agree. I'm sure Melvin will be working the phones to see what can be had.
  13. Before this season's injury, the only real time Capuano missed was when he sucked terribly last year and they removed him from the rotation. Capuano only made 17 starts in 2004 due to being placed on the DL 3 times that season, and was also on the 15-day DL at one point in 2007. Yes, pitchers get hurt, but PLEASE stop insinuating that Ben Sheets health over the last four years is normal for any pitcher. It's untrue and annoying. That is true that it's not normal- normally when pitchers get hurt, they miss large chunks of the season with a major injury or spend a 15-day DL trip for minor stuff. Despite all of Sheets' injuries, he still manages to make 2/3 to 75% of his starts, which makes him more productive during a year, but also makes it more frustrating since it's multiple injuries/DL trips in a season.
  14. I realize this only affects the Brewers if Sheets doesn't get attractive FA offers and accepts arbitration. I know it doesn't happen often, but teams sometimes don't get picks because they don't offer arbitration for that reason. Yes, you do have to offer arby to get picks, but I doubt the Brewers would pass on offering it. Really, they'd probably be thrilled to have Ben for 1 year even at 15 or so million if he accepted it, as the concerns are more to giving him a long-term deal with his injuries. A one year deal would work great for the team.
  15. I see team's draft picks from one or two years ago already int their respective rotations, meanwhile the Brewers have Mark Rogers. It's frustrating. Well, from the same draft they got Mark Rogers, they also got Yovani Gallardo, who was also a HS pitcher, FWIW.
  16. As they're built now, they're probably good enough to finish over .500 and stay at least in contention for the wildcard for much of the season, barring additional significant injuries. But those that are predicting us to be sellers by the deadline because of the rotation, isn't that more of an argument to be buyers and acquire a starter before it gets to that point? There's nothing that says we can't trade to improve the team, and both ownership and the front office have shown a willingness to do so in the past.
  17. The Brewers have certainly positioned themselves very well to re-load regardless of what happens on the year. 6 High picks this season will certainly add to the system regardless. If the team falls out of contention before the end of July, they can get a major haul for the guys you mentioned. If they're still in the running, they can get another serious draft haul from Sheets and Gagne, and possibly Mota if he keeps it up. That's another 6-7 draft picks in the top 2 rounds again next year for Jack Z to work his magic on. It could definitely help prolong the Brewers' run, and also give us ammo to trade prospects for what we need next year around the deadline.
  18. End is right that the East is open enough at this point that Tampa can probably make their first run ever, so I'd imagine they'll do everything possible to try and make that work. If the Brewers are really looking to make a move now rather than in a month or two, it's tough because so few teams are really 'out of it' a month into the season. SF, SD, and Colorado seem to be the only ones to this point with Arizona so far ahead of the pack, so focusing on someone like Maddux, Lincecum, or Cain is probably the way to go.
  19. Why am I watching an edited version of Major League on Bravo when the real version sits 5 feet away on the shelf? Hah! I was watching it last night as well, then finally realized how dumb it was to sit through the commercials when I could put in the DVD.
  20. I would be more willing to take risks with a supplemental or second round pick than the 16th pick. I agree completely. Colby, if we don't take him at 16, is there any hope that he makes it to the supplemental round?
  21. Nice bomb by Rickie...Didnt see it, but sounds far....How far is the estimate? I thought we arent allowed to swear on here? ?
  22. How deep was that homer by Rickie, like 600 feet? Not deep enough to land in UCLA's stadium, which is the only way Brewer fans in Madison would have seen it....
  23. Arizona State vs UCLA is on over Brewer baseball? What the hell?
  24. If this version is accurate, I'm sure some team will pick him up for $400K, should they not manage to pull off a trade. Well, apparently Cots and FTJ were right, assuming McCalvy is accurate (as he almost surely is). I can't say I've ever heard this before, as I've always heard that the claiming team picks up the salary.
