  1. Is it wrong to hope that the Phillies can't trade for a starter, then? While I'm completely convinced that there'll be more involved with the trade, the initial reports are less than good. Though last year at this time we were talking about getting Shea Hillenbrand for Overbay.....
  2. Well, Turnbow/Mench for Lieber would suck slightly less than Capellan/Mench, but I still want no part of either trade unless something serious is coming back the other way.
  3. I'm beginning to understand why Lozano was taking so long getting back to Doug's messages. You've got to run a lot of string to tie two tin cans together when one is in California and the other in Milwaukee.
  4. Yeah, colby is right: Rotoworld just compiles for the most part (which is useful in its own right), but the analysis is basically their interpretation of the source's info.
  5. I'm fully expecting the offer to be sent via smoke signals sometime on Thursday.
  6. Man alive, steadily around 200 visitors all day today, and a virtually full chatroom all evening. Melvin just needs to do anything to make this place go haywire. Even something like taking a Rule 5 guy could make this place crazy.
  7. We've gone from faxing offers to Cirillo to e-mailing? Is this how the process actually works, or are these article snippets as backhanded as they sound?
  8. You know, that Melvin quote about Schmidt really doesn't say that they're not pursuing Schmidt.... just says the agent's reaction to their inquiry.
  9. Discussed here: p092.ezboard.com/fbrewers...3535.topic
  10. Ken Rosenthal's new article from 5 mins ago says that Schmidt is very high on the Dodgers' wish list, and the Mariners are essentially pulling out and re-focusing on Zito as a result. msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6241678
  11. I agree with Aracko. If we're trading Mench and Capellan for Lieber and picking up salary in the process, I want no part. We'd better be getting something nice in return as well.
  12. The Cubs haven't officially signed Lilly yet....
  13. I'm expecting a Rowand/Lieber for Mench/Capellan deal for some reason....
  14. I'd imagine that we'd be getting something else in return from Philly, or along with Lieber. Thoughts on possibilities?
  15. This would not at all be that same move. What it would be, and what it shares in common with the NFL signing is that it would be a proven, veteran star player recognizing that, with the young talent already in place, his presence can put the team over the proverbial hump of playoff success. I can pretty much agree with that. Signing Schmidt instantly gives us the top rotation in the NL right now. EDIT: It'd also make a Baldelli trade involving Villanueva a no-brainer for the Brewers.
  16. Seems like an absurdly nice trade for the Cubs. Hopefully it doesn't happen. And seeing 'Bob Melvin' twice on the Brewers rumor page at rotoworld is moderately annoying.
  17. They filed for divorce, but made up shortly thereafter.
  18. People can discuss whatever players they want. I'd imagine that 99% of people here know that AROD and Manny aren't coming to Milwaukee, but it's fun to speculate.
  19. If we were the side to stop the Mench for Lopez stuff, you'd think that Benson would be a much more attractive return. Assuming of course that it was us that nixed the negotiations.
  20. Ah, the infamous "I'm not motivated to move him" quote for Melvin. I'm looking for Turnbow to be somewhere else by Friday. Nice to see the interest in Lofton. Not so nice to see it in Finley.
  21. Also, with shipping off Capellan and Aquino, it definitely implies that we'll be either exploring bullpen arms like Weathers or trading some of our glut of OF's and IF's for a starter and a reliever or two. But I think the offer is just rotoworld speculation, rather than something that is actually out there. Definitely would like it to be true, though.
  22. Wow, would that be a big deal for Milwaukee. Also would leave us really looking for a 5th starter. Baldelli has had some injury issues the past couple of years, but he certainly can hit and is only 25. I'd prefer Crawford, but Baldelli is attractive as well.
  23. They might need his permission. It's somewhat unclear if they would or not, depending on whether overall rules apply to your own free agents accepting arby.
  24. Boo for moving it back a month! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  25. I have April in the correct time pool, BTW.
