  1. Did you look at the 2006 salaries by teams here, yet? Yes I did, you've only referenced it three times in the last five minutes, so it's kind of hard to miss. So, what? That's a drop in the bucket compared to teams that seriously desire to win. Your claim was that Mark A. was doing things the same as the Seligs. Like I said, the payroll has gone up by about 30 million since he took over. That pretty much makes that point wrong. Also, I'd rather spend 56 million and build a team the right way while being ranked low on the total payroll scale than spend a bunch of money on overpaid crap players and be ranked in the top 15.
  2. You do realize that the payroll went up about 30 million after Mark A. took over, right?
  3. Yep... going to be one of those nights that Gary Bennett beats us mercilessly.
  4. I'm seriously wondering about the amount of time wasted on the "jinx" topic, and lots of it by the staff. I'm seriously wondering why someone who doesn't care about jinx topics would waste time reading them and even more time commenting on how they were a waste of time. Seems pretty ironic, doesn't it?
  5. Yeah, the general rule of thumb is to not talk directly about it (ie don't say no-hitter, no-no, hasn't allowed a hit, etc), but subtle references are generally ok (see X ellence's post on the first page). But we're not actually going to start banning people for talking about it, so it was all in jest afterwards.
  6. Of course mentioning something in a minor league A game 3000 miles from where I am calls for a ban but personal attacks of course are fine.. You do realize that that was a joke, right? I don't think Dhonks actually thinks you're a witch. I don't think it was a personal attack at all. That said, superstitions are big in baseball, especially regarding no-hitters.
  7. Off topic, but Yo Gallardo has a no-no going through 8 innings for Brevard County tonight with 3 walks and 10 strikeouts. Sigh.... nothing like jinxing things, eh? And right on cue, Yo gives up a hit.
  8. All of you who talked about it should be soooo banned.
  9. Off topic, but Yo Gallardo has a no-no going through 8 innings for Brevard County tonight with 3 walks and 10 strikeouts. Sigh.... nothing like jinxing things, eh?
  10. Rickie should have swung. It was too close to take. He swings at that, and he easily misses without a chance.
  11. Yeah, sure looks like Capellan would have been a much better choice last inning. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  12. I love how we're walking guys left and right, but the strikezone for the Cards reliever was the size of the Grand Canyon. That strike 3 called on Rickie was clearly high, and even off the plate inside.
  13. I see no jinxing... http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. The POS bullpen is all on Melvin. The crappy starts are just bad luck because of injuries but Melvin didn't upgrade the bullpen at all during the offseason. Dan Kolb?
  15. Back to the garbage collection for Joe.
  16. Not that DLR needs to be excused, but Joe Winklesas owes him a beer or something for allowing all 6 inherited runners of his to score in the last two outings.
  17. Winklesas is now WAY ahead in the "Get DFA'd When Rick Helling Comes Back-a-thon."
  18. I think it's clear that JDLR is a reliever. Solid through 3 and nothing after that. So are people ignoring the fact that he's hurt? He was solid through five the last time out...
  19. You know, if the manager and the trainer visit the mound and the guy has blood on his pants and is bleeding from a finger on his pitching hand, why in the world do you keep him in for another hitter?
  20. Winklesas coming in with the bases loaded... I'm having flashbacks to the last time and predicting a game-tying grand slam.
  21. If he's hurt, get him the heck out of there.
  22. And this outing is a pretty good indicator of what is so obscenely frustrating about DLR. EDIT: Looks like the split fingernail is part of the problem.
  23. It's gone? Come on Daron, that was clearly off the wall.
  24. Who the heck is this guy and what has he done with Mark Mulder? He's been horrible in his last 4 starts now. It's got to be painful for him to be watching his big free agent payday coming up this offseason, knowing that he's having a down year and it's going to cost him.
