  1. Guys like Guerra and Broxton need to be traded in the offseason. Too good to let walk for nothing, not good enough to keep on the 25 all year.
  2. I really don't know if this team can hang in there another month. I'd already bet strongly against them finishing ahead of the Cubs or Cardinals, meaning that have to hold off every other non division winner in the NL. Since the trade deadline, we have lost ground on the Cubs, Diamondbacks, Rockies, Dodgers, Cardinals, and Braves, and are even with the Phillies. To rephrase: every single contender in the NL has been playing better baseball than us, and if that continues in September we are in serious trouble of blowing yet another shot at postseason baseball.
  3. Seriously, how bad does the Rangers pitching coach look?
  4. I hate to say it, but as of now the deadline was completely botched. The offensive production from the 2nd base position has actually gotten WORSE since the deadline. Shaw has a .648 OPS while play 2nd base and Schoop .542. Obviously the defense has been much worse as well. Add in the fact all the talent we gave up for those trades and ignoring the rotation questions (ERA over 5.00 since the deadline BTW).... Puke. Going to be 10-13 in August if we don't come back tonight, which is a pretty fair representation of our deadline performance.
  5. I know they want to get Shaw and Moose both into the lineup but they got way too cute with this. Shaw's glove isn't horrible but he has zero range. It's literally like having two 1st basemen on the right side. The Brewers have a smart FO and analytics team, but their deadline infield moves did more harm than good. They need to re-evaluate what they did here.
  6. This is one major difference between the 1st and 2nd half Brewers. The 1st half Brewers' bullpen frequently limited damage and gave the offense a chance to get back into the game. The 2nd half bullpen cannot and thus rallies usually fall short.
  7. Didn’t he do really well in his minor league rehab assignment? Did really well in his minor league assignment before the last time he came back, too. Davies had some really good minor league assignments with some clunkers mixed in. Just hard to know how much to read into that.
  8. The first one was forgivable. The second one was a solid shot right up the middle. Yes if you happen to have a guy standing there it's a DP, but that would be one we'd all be lamenting Braun's bad luck if he hit one like that and it ended up being a GIDP. It was solid contact.
  9. I just don't get why Albers wasn't left on the DL until September 1st. He was clearly just a phantom injury stash to begin with and nothing has really changed with him. They were 10 days away, why?
  10. Here's where the weak part of our pen gives up 3 and makes our rally moot.
  11. Hughes was the very definition of average/replaceable last year. No one could have seen his dominance coming. And on cue......he starts regressing toward the mean.... Seriously...one outing? After this regression he still has an ERA under 2.
  12. Hughes was the very definition of average/replaceable last year. No one could have seen his dominance coming. No one could have seen this season coming, but plenty of people wanted him back, and with good reaaon, he was solid for us last year.
  13. I expect Davies to start up here next outing. We may as well try. Look at those numbers for Jared Hughes. What could have been for us.
  14. Cardinals just continue to roll. Hopefully the Central sends 3 teams to the playoffs because 3rd may be our spot.
  15. Who'd have thought the guy with the 7 ERA wouldn't get the job done?
  16. To answer Briggs' question about why we didn't claim Murphy to block the Cubs...come on, man. We don't have 4 million dollars to casually toss at a guy that we don't even have a roster spot for just to block a team that we have almost no shot of beating either way.
  17. This team has won more than 2 games in a row exactly once since early July. An absolute consistent failure in the second half to maintain any sort of momentum.
  18. I'm watching Rockies/Angels and i just don't know if some people truly have an appreciation of how good Mike Trout is. He isn't the greatest player in the game, he is the greatest player in any of our lifetimes unless any of you were around in the Babe Ruth era. He has HOF caliber numbers now, and he just turned 27. Is 50M a year unrealistic for what he might command in free agency?
