  1. Why are we the only ones to know this ahead of time? Can't CC figure this out himself. It is maddening... I'm not saying Counsell isn't a good manager, but sometimes it feels like the game instincts are lacking. I posted last night that if he leaves Peralta in to face the pitcher, he's going to walk him in and walk in a run. Ended up being the deciding run. Pulled him after the walk. If he pulls him before the walk, we likely win.
  2. 82, I'm just giving you the odds. You have 1st and 3rd nobody out, and you willingly turn it into 1st and 3rd 1 out, your odds of scoring obviously go down, statistically. JV is right to say Thames, while a good hitter, is both an enormous K and double play risk and thus makes those odds even worse and makes the decision even more questionable.
  3. This is going well. Again, hope this was all worth it letting Miley hit, Counsell.
  4. With the top of the order coming up, there should have been a run there. Much better odds nobody out than 1. All the pinch hitter has to do is put it in play and we score, even if we hit into a double play. Terrible decision.
  5. 27 strikeouts yesterday and the first 5 innings today. Just pathetic.
  6. Thanks for blowing a great scoring opportunity by handing them a free out just so you can inevitably pull Miley in a couple hitters anyway, Craig. Hope it was worth it.
  7. Me, I guess. But he should only be bunting in this situation and he's not. He shouldn't have been at the plate at all. All too often CC blows a golden scoring opportunity trying to squeeze another 10 pitches from his starter.
  8. So I thought Miley's target tonight was 65 pitches. He's at 78, we have 1st and 3rd and no one out and he's out there hitting for himself? Goodness, why? At the very best he's going 1 more inning, maybe less.
  9. I won't pretend to know more than the guys in charge of this club, obviously, but I sure don't understand how a guy like Wade Miley is here and Brandon Woodruff can't get an extended look.
  10. Look like a team that just got into Pittsburgh at 5 a.m. That's why it was such a gut punch to lose last night, because you were more or less guaranteed to have factors from last game trickle into this one.
  11. At least the pitcher was the next one up or that could have been worse.
  12. Peralta demoted all the way down to the Timber Rattlers. They must be really disappointed with his start last night.
  13. Well to the hypothetical question no, I wouldn't trade Stearns for Syndergaard.
  14. Boy, hard to pick a worse game to have a guaranteed short start coming.
  15. No, it's not and yes, there are, but there aren't any other Manny Machado types available.
  16. It IS frustrating to have this kind of a series now against a bad team. Really discouraging to not only lose but blow out the pen in the process. This was a game that was going to eat at people if they didn't pull it off, and they did not. I don't blame people for feeling "It's the Brewers, they're going to let us down." I'd be lying if I haven't had the same doubts at times and if some of you are honest, many of you have too. It's the same way Detroit Lions fans feel in Week 17 when they're facing Green Bay with the division on the line. It's tough to shake a reputation of failure and to some it never will be until success is proven. Yet, here we all still are, so hopefully it will make it all the more rewarding one day.
  17. Can't say it doesn't make sense. It's absolutely plausible that the Orioles have demanded Burnes for Machado, we've refused, offered Peralta instead, and the Orioles are on the fence about that. If so, he didn't leave a very good impression tonight.
  18. Braun is never healthy, and not better than the 3 OFers starting tonight, so not really relevant. Agreed about the middle infield. Maybe someone out there can help.
  19. This is why managers that have their pitchers stand out in the corner OF for one AB and then put them back in are smart, not stupid.
  20. Yelich is a great player but really choked on it tonight. Terrible AB in the 9th against Bear Claw and now this.
  21. Again there are no pitchers left. If literally almost half of your relievers are unavailable for the game that is a piss poor job of preparation.
