  1. Well, that's not how emotion works. Otherwise it wouldn't be emotion. Yes, some of us need to be able to separate the emotion from this and have more perspective - not always easy. Like they say, you're never as good as you think you are when things are at their best, and never as bad as you think you are when things are at their worst.
  2. I'm not either. I'm just wondering how rare it is. I predicted earlier and still predict 1 win in 5. (Split tomorrow)
  3. You have to take the good with the bad on these in-game threads. 3 or 4 years ago these in-game threads were one of the best parts of this message board. The conversation was insightful and clever and people really didn't over react to the ebb and flow of individual games like many do now. That isn't necessarily a bad thing... But I do agree with you that the immaturity grinds on you at times. I mainly come here if I miss something live and need an update on an injury or a play or something. Otherwise it is hard for me to stomach the "youthful" turn these in game threads have taken... 3 years ago (2015) the IGTs were basically nonexistent. There was really no conversation or anyone to overreact to anything. Almost all the threads were 1 or 2 pages. 4 years ago (2014) was basically the same as now. Pick any long random IGT and you'll see what I mean. Emotion comes with expectations. 2016 was probably the year you are thinking of because we were full blown rebuilding and no one really cared much about the day to day win/loss results.
  4. Your last 3 IGT posts prior to this one: Holy crap, get the bats off of the shoulder. This guy is throwing 90, not 100. Just quit trying to bunt. Rip it out of the playbook. Lefties sure seem to make Counsell look bad when he wants them to get one guy. You know what they say about those in glass houses.
  5. Guerra's failure to get the bunt down cost the team 1 run. Got to do the little things well when you're struggling.
  6. Guerra's got to get that down. Disappointing. When you're having a lousy start at least help yourself out.
  7. Pretty different situation than Miley in the 5th last night. Very different.
  8. Lol. Another completely punchless response by this joke of an offense.
  9. This doesn't contradict anything. He's saying the people he's talked to see the Dodgers (Seager injury) and Brewers (Arcia's offensive ineptness) as the best fits. He doesn't say the Brewers are offering enough to stay in the race. My whole point is/was that nothing reported either way makes it appear either more or less likely that they're going to make a move for him.
  10. I'll predict one win for us in this series. Split the DH tomorrow. That's it.
  11. Guerra getting squeezed. How I despise MLB umpires.
  12. I think part of what really makes me resent Darnell Coles is irrationally wanting him to get better out of what he has than what they are. Like, "Derek Johnson is able to work magic, why can't you, dude?"
  13. Not surprisingly, the update from Krasnik contradicts the earlier report of the Brewers "fading". There's a new Manny Machado rumor every day, but people I talk to still see the #Dodgers and #Brewers as the best fits. They have the best mix of prospect talent, need and the motivation to make this particular deal. We'll see. The more this goes on the more I think the O's are going to take this right down to a day or two of the deadline.
  14. Craig Counsell just said on @MLBNetworkRadio that Jimmy Nelson has begun "some light sessions" pitching from the mound, but was clear that they no longer have a timetable for his return at the moment.
  15. Agree with this. There is always the risk of some team truly getting a bit desperate and beating our offer, but if that is the case...so be it. If our offer is Woodruff + Broxton + Carmona is our best offer, not that it is a bad one but I doubt it's the best one out there. I also doubt it's good enough to end up being an accepted offer. Maybe if you substitute Santana or Phillips for Broxton. I would say it's highly likely Woodruff has been in trade talks this week. Doesn't seem to be any other reason that he hasn't worked since 7/2. Even if they had planned to save him for the doubleheader he could have had one start since then.
  16. I think the plan is going to be to piggyback Woodruff on top of one of Saturday's starters, probably Suter but depending on the score and situation of Game 1. Since Suter and Woodruff are essentially "extras" at this point that just leaves 3 games left for our conventional pen, which is fairly fresh at the moment. Hader, Burnes, Knebel, Williams, and Jeffress can all probably cover either one multi inning appearance or two appearances of an inning or less. Asher, Barnes and Jennings can probably give one appearance more each before the break. Barring a disastrous short start I think they're fine.
  17. I'm a fan of getting Machado. I'm okay with dealing multiple prospects from our roster crunch depth to get it done. I'd go Woodruff + Phillips + Diplan and not even really bat an eye. I could probably even be talked into a 4th piece like Brown or Supak. But I really don't know what the price point we are discussing with them is. If we are talking about Burnes + Peralta, then no, we shouldn't do it. It has to be a quantity move.
  18. This sucks, c'mon DS, just get this thing done...you are parting with...PROSPECTS, that's all they are. Unless you think you are giving up the next Trout or Harper or Kershaw, who really cares?? Best available bat, Crew in great position as is..Get it done. You wanted to deal Brinson last year to get Gray too, which would look like a disaster of a move now and would have cost us Yelich. Point being, it's not always about waiting for the prospects, it's also about getting the best value for them. This "they're prospects, who cares?? Get him" attitude would be a very quick way to run a franchise into the ground.
  19. Woodruff up, Houser down is the move. Makes total sense as Houser is basically useless until after the AS break.
  20. IMO it just doesn't mean much. If anything. Cubs were the favorites a month ago, Dodgers before that, now the Cubs aren't even involved, Phillies were "out" recently, now presumably made a good offer, Dodgers had the strongest offer recently and now ?? Brewers were the favorites, now fading, Yankees are the frontrunners, except when they're not. Until something appears imminent I just don't think stuff like this means much one way or another.
  21. Would they consider trying to find spots for guys like Medeiros and Torres-Costa before September 1st? Since they'll need to be added after the season anyway it won't hurt to do it early if you have space, and then they could be nice bullpen adds to the MLB roster in September.
