  1. Yes, I think Miller is going to start at SS, a lot, almost every day against RHP if Arcia goes down. This was not solely a bench padding move.
  2. It's not a "spin" at all. What I said is literally true. He was a slightly above average defender 2 years at SS, slightly below average, and well below average one year.
  3. 2 more things I wanted to point out on Miller: 1) His defensive numbers in 2013 and 2015 were actually slightly positive at SS, slightly negative in 2014, and 2016 was his only year as a 'bad' defender there. He's not going to be Arcia, but if we can assume his standard defense at SS is closer to his 2013-2015 he should be close to average and just fine. 2) Tampa is well known as an extreme pitchers' park. Could be exciting and a real find to get a potential 30 HR guy at SS.
  4. Still need one more move to accommodate that #5 starter sooner or later. Thames is really coming up for Woodruff (I assume), who came up for Chou. Miller and Sogard work as a straight swap when Miller comes up. Saladino for Arcia works. But assuming they'll float that 5th rotation spot until they need it again, they'll have to find another move to make at some point to accommodate.
  5. It was one of those games that we probably should have won but the little things cost us (the big Shaw error, the Aguilar bad mental mistake, the missed throw and catch on the pickoff). That said, you'll have those ones from time to time, so as long as you've got more of those working out in your favor than against you, which I think we do, it's easier to learn from it and move on. If we can take 2 out of 3 vs. the Cubs, all is well. We can't continue to be their punching bags.
  6. Choi's camp shot that rumor down right away and said it wasn't true at all.
  7. 1 - Cain 2 - Yelich 3 - Aguilar 4 - Shaw 5 - Braun/Thames 6 - Villar 7 - Miller 8 - Pina/Kratz Looking better ...now imagine if we had Realmuto.
  8. Really nothing not to like about this. Miller has a .758 career OPS against righties, which immediately and basically for nothing upgrades our lineup against RHP at one of our 2 black holes. Yes, I would imagine the plan is for Miller to see significant time, and starts, at SS. Actually the only thing I don't like about this was him being optioned down and Sogard surviving the roster another 10 days.
  9. Disappointing 3-5 road trip. Gotta put it all behind us immediately and take 2 out of 3 against the Cubs. Absolutely no way to expect to compete with them for the division if you continue to lose the vast majority of games against them.
  10. I won't say a bad word about Braun for the rest of June if he jacks a 3 run HR here.
  11. Can't believe this game has continued on this entire time. Top of the order in the 8th. It's now, or never.
  12. Please end the Sogard experiment. Claim Brad Miller, DFA Eric Sogard, and you have immediately and significantly upgraded our bench.
  13. Don't see this one going our way now. Hope I'm wrong. Looks like Eflin is dialed in and we'll be lucky to even see the 9th today.
  14. He has been really, really bad the last couple weeks, and should not be your first option in a 2-1 game that you're playing as a late inning game.
  15. Or used as a loogy as he should be. You want Logan to stay over Jennings? Really? I don't really care for either, but Jennings isn't a LOOGY. Doesn't have LOOGY splits at all, never has. Up until this year anyway.
  16. Counsell has been all over the place with his game management today. I totally agree with the call to 'go for it' in the 5th, but then he brings in Perez. Then to preserve that lead he goes with Dan Jennings. Just baffling management on his part today.
