  1. A fly out??? Gamecast breaks down the batting average into a 9 square grid of the strike zone. Sogard is .125 or less in 8 of the 9 grids, but does hit .375 on pitches left exactly dead center in the zone.... No he made a great catch in foul territory, that's what I was meaning. I'm not saying I'm a huge Sogard fan or something but being new to this board I find he has been the recipient of a disproportionate amount of vitriol. OPS of .359 will do that, especially when you're still getting semi-regular ABs. You should have been here when Oliver Drake was here.
  2. Wow, this is ugly fast. Chacin getting shelled today.
  3. Sure wish we had scored more than 1 in the 1st now.
  4. Nice start. Kind of a bummer only coming away with 1 though.
  5. Gross exaggeration, he only eats the corpses of already deceased middle aged people.
  6. Oh, and people who post about sports (especially actual sportswriters) and say 'compliment' when they mean 'complement'. "He compliments him well." No, he freaking doesn't, and if he does, I don't care about who he compliments.
  7. Yeah I think Hader and Jeffress was probably a bad example. Both are just so dominant against anyone that any advantage you get from this is negligible at best. Now a tandem that might be a good fit for this would be Taylor Williams and Boone Logan. Williams has been basically unhittable against righties, but struggles against lefties. Logan -- well, not so much success against lefties so far, but if he gets right, in theory he'd be the other perfect complementary piece for this.
  8. This is probably the most overrated Brewers farm I have seen since following the team. Even Hiura is nowhere near a cant miss prospect. After that you have a ton of nice, but not great prospects. A lot of the better guys are really struggling this year. I see a lot of guys who I can be pretty confident will make the majors someday...but the impact they will have is highly questionable. Do I really want to trade 3-4 guys to nab Machado? Not really, but if we are a top team in the MLB I sure won’t blame Stearns for doing it. Don't agree with the first part at all. First of all they aren't even rated that highly, more middle of the pack. I agree it's not that top heavy but the depth is very solid. Hiura continues to do what he does and Corey Ray is enjoying a breakout, and so was Dubon before he got hurt. Lutz and Erceg have been disappointing but Gatewood is coming around. On the pitching side I don't know how you could ask for any more. Peralta continues to make big strides. Corbin Burnes is every bit the pitching prospect he was coming into the season. Forget about his Colorado Springs numbers. Josh Hader couldn't get guys out in Colorado Springs. His road ERA is 2.70 taking Colorado Springs out of the equation. Supak continues to dominate and if he can make the jump to Biloxi a successful one he's definitely on the map as a legit pitching prospect. Medeiros started out great, struggled recently -- I still think he's destined for a Hader type pen role. I do agree with your last statement, as long as the price tag isn't too insane, from the perspectives of Stearns and Mark A, if you think you can bring a World Series back to Milwaukee this year, I can definitely understand it.
  9. The pitcher can only go to a position and come back to pitch once an inning. So, yes, you can do it (and it happens a couple times every year). You can't do it multiple times in an inning though. Are you sure about that or have a link to the rule showing that limitation? Only rule I can find is that there is a 1 batter minimum for any pitcher. Nothing I can find on limits to switches like that.
  10. Oof. Trying real hard to find something to feel good about on the farm today and I'm coming up blank. Grisham went 2 for 4 with a double I guess? That's about all I got.
  11. Another radical relief idea. Say you have a really tight game, 1 run lead, 2 innings to go, against an elite lineup and team. Could you alternate between a lefty and righty, say, Hader and Jeffress, for 2 innings, playing the handed matchups, sticking the other one in a corner OF spot when they're not matched up to keep them in the game? Would this be too disruptive for a pitcher to benefit? There's obviously also a risk of actually allowing a ball in play to your pitcher playing in the OF, though if you use guys like Hader, Knebel, Jeffress, Williams, these guys are often just not even letting the ball be put in play. Just wondering why this would or wouldn't work.
  12. I hate dachshunds. They are the absolute worst breed of dog. As a general rule I hate yippy little lap dogs, but dachshunds are on another level. They bite and they act more like cats in that they don't listen at all. My in-laws for some reason decided to get one a few years ago and we get the 'pleasure' of caring for him every so often. He'll sleep on the bed, burrow himself under the covers and just generally be a nuisance, and like clockwork start whining to go out about 4 in the morning. Sometimes he'll even jump off the bed in the middle of the night and then start whining until someone lifts him back ON the bed. Any meal or snack requires you to watch your food like an absolute hawk as this pest will seek out any opportunity to take a snag at your food.
  13. IMO Medeiros just needs to be on a reliever career path at this point. See if you can make another Josh Hader out of him.
  14. A good Bickford update! Adam McCalvy (@AdamMcCalvy) Tweeted: Club official confirms @BrewersFarm -- RHP Trey Supak (No. 21 on @MLBPipeline's Brewers prospect list) is being promoted to Biloxi and RHP Phil Bickford will be activated to take Supak's spot at Carolina.
  15. What's kind of crazy to think about is that they only need to play 5 games over .500 the rest of the season to win 90 games. I mean that should happen, don't you think? They haven't even had Jimmy.
  16. Now we would even be in "Oliver Drake safe territory."
  17. That should be enough cushion to get Houser some work.
  18. You'd have to think with our bullpen, its annoying but inconsequential. But you never know. Even the best bullpens have blowup days once in awhile. Would be fitting for it to happen on the day Oliver Drake got DFAed again.
  19. JV doing his best to give Counsell excuses to plug Sogard in at 2B tomorrow.
  20. 4 innings into the game and every position player in the lineup besides Kratz has exactly one hit except Shaw who has 2.
  21. In fairness to Chase, plenty of times the offense has been carried by the pitching staff in games they put up 2-3 runs. Seems only fair for the offense to give one back from time to time.
