  1. Is this for real, or are you just trying to get a rise out of the board? I'll stand by it. Villar had a miserable first four months of 2017 and many said it was early, stay with him, yadda yadda. Sogard, a guy that did have a .380 OBP. last season, struggles and gets demoted in May. I agree with the demotion, but still prefer Sogard's skill set in the short term for this team. We have enough K's on this team, we really don't need more lack of contact from 2B. I'll also take a more reliable glove at 2B too. I hope Villar continues to do well, improve, etc... Glad to see the new guy doing well at 2B too. Sogard doesn't have a skill set. He has a low career OBP, and doesn't hit for power. He was striking out in 25% of his ABs prior to his demotion too, so no, he hasn't even been great at making contact. He's just a very mediocre player who, good for him, turned a fantastic month last season into a few million bucks. He's 32, likely isn't improving, and isn't even hitting worth a crap in Colorado Springs. We are better off looking at other internal options or scouring the waiver wire than we are giving Sogard major league ABs again.
  2. You can't turn on sports radio in Chicago for 15 minutes without hearing a discussion of the Cubs getting Machado. The Cub system at the higher levels is garbage right now. Getting Machado, and at the same time preventing the Cubs from getting him would be huge both on the field and psychologically. This is certainly a fair point. No doubt the Cubs are the favorite to get Machado. Machado is such a significant player that I would go as far as to say that if the Brewers get Machado, they win the division, and if the Cubs get Machado, they win the division. Perhaps even the difference between one or the other winning the NL pennant. Obviously no way to know that for sure, but he's that much of a difference maker. If he gets traded to an AL team, no harm no foul really. But he goes to the Cubs, it's pretty much double damage. Of course, there's some serious long-term implications here, especially if you have to give up more than expected, so if you're going to go for it, it had better work out in spades.
  3. I can't help but cringe a little bit when Mom turns to the son and gets that super-excited "WOW" look on her face from eating what I assume to be mediocre pizza. LOL. I take the family out to pizza ranch every couple of months, usually on a Tuesday so I don't have to pay for the kids. It's fine. Its buffet pizza.
  4. Good for you man. I've never smoked, so I can't imagine what you're going through, but I do have an addictive personality and understand addiction itself. When my mom quit she used to keep suckers and stuff around at all times. Helped keep her mind off of having that next smoke. Good luck! Thank you! Getting easier!
  5. Well these next 3 years are going to feel like forever, that's for sure.
  6. Yay, really been missing that stick.
  7. I wonder how the game thread will look tomorrow if Braun gets activated and plugged right back into the 3 hole and Jesus rides the pine.
  8. Suter needs to be taking off when he sees Bandy tagging and the throw going to 3rd. At the very least if he gets thrown out you still have RISP, and now the DP is still in order.
  9. Wow, that was not a good move. Glad he didn't pay for it.
  10. Whew. Nice job getting out of it. Suter vs. Goldschmidt with 2 runners on made me nervous.
  11. Not a huge blunder or anything especially trying to decide in the moment but Saladino should have taken the out at 3rd to get the lead runner knowing he wasn't going to turn 2.
  12. Suter can't afford to fall behind anyone 3-1. Even a .063 hitting pitcher can hit a mid 80s get me over pitch.
  13. I would guess most people mean "hung up on" as a metaphorical term rather than a literal one. I do in any case. These guys are probably texting each other anyway.
  14. Hader is not going to be even tossed around as part of any trade discussions this year. It just doesn't make any sense to put that big of a hole in your pen to patch another area. The absolute only way I could see Hader traded is if we kind of disappointed this year, won 75-80 games, were convinced Hader isn't ever going to be a starter, and got an absolute monster offer in the offseason. Even then I'm not sure we would do it. It would need to be a clear overpay. Burnes is a much more realistic discussion piece for Realmuto, Hader is not.
  15. Exactly, it has a lot more to do with how good Realmuto is, who is also lauded for his work with a pitching staff and defensive talents. It's not a knock on Pina per se, just an opportunity for a massive upgrade at the position to have Realmuto as your starter and Pina as your backup. It's not like JT is some defensive hack, he can do both. Pina is a nice defender and everything and so is Arcia and it's nice to have that. But they're also big reasons that the offense was such a disaster for the first 6 weeks of this season. Long-term it would be nice to get a big offensive upgrade, its tough having 6-9 as a black hole in your lineup. We are in a great spot right now team-wise but its scary to think how bad our offense would be if Stearns has stood pat in the OF in the offseason and not gone out and gotten Cain and Yelich.
  16. All sounds great as long as you are a Marlins fan and not a Brewer fan. I just think that JT has much more long term value at a more important position. Relievers are often up and down year to year. Of course the Brewers would never to it because fans are rightfully enamored of Hader. I’m also not convinced that Huira has a long term future with Brewers. Until that arm is fixed he smells like a DH. Castro would offer genuine stability at second base and I don’t think Erceg or Ponce will ultimately make it. Losing Villar gets rid of the headache and upgrades us defensively. Anyways, it all just idle speculation but I do believe the Brewers would be better this year. Well, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I personally think your valuations are crazy off. Without even getting into JT vs. Hader the pieces you are proposing giving up for Castro would cause widespread rioting in Milwaukee. Castro is barely if at all an upgrade from Villar and his 8 figure a year salary gives him absolutely no surplus value. I could see acquiring him but it would have to be a strict salary dump and nothing more like Walker last year.
  17. To be fair, looks like he did get on his phone and immediately edited Hernandez' Wikipedia page after his ejection.
  18. It's kind of hilarious that Hernandez doesn't understand why he gets negative evaluations and gets passed over for promotions.
  19. No, they're not. They're right. Not excusing it but Knebel probably would've gotten the call if Pina didn't have to reach all the way across the plate. Hardly the first time a call lime that has been missed. Hell, Hernandez missed a pitch earlier in the game that almost cost the D'Backs 3 runs. The thing is he had a mile wide strike zone all night. Anything close on the edges was called up until Hader's 8th. Then in the 9th, nothing. Had he been tight on the corners the entire night it probably would have not been that big of a thing.
  20. Knebel is pumped and I don't blame him. He got screwed and made it not matter.
  21. Can't believe he rung him up on that. I guess it was just way, way too obvious not to.
  22. Hernandez watching Pina's laser thinking "G ' Damnit." in his head.
