  1. The Packers are in the same division as the Bears, so why is Lambeau Field not infested with Bear fans every year? (And yes I know they're there, but nowhere near the degree of Cub fans at MP). So is the extra 90 minute drive really stopping them? No, it's because the Bears are generally irrelevant and the Packers are generally good. The Padres also deal with this proximity and marlet difference with the Dodgers, the answer is to get better, not run to a different division.
  2. It's a fair point. At the same time, I just don't get a playoff team type vibe from this team, or however you want to say it. There's just too many question marks, too many things that need to go right. The rotation is just one. The lineup continues to show more of the same tendencies that plagued them in the second half last year. The defense looks disastrous. There is still a lot of time left obviously and this is just first impressions. But I've been highly disappointed in the offense and haven't seen much to distinguish themselves from last year.
  3. Not so fun fact: The home team has one no-hitter in the history of Miller Park. The Cubs threw it. Up until this year it felt like we almost catered to Cub fans at Miller Park. For crying out loud, Charles Tillman threw out a first pitch here.
  4. I don't take for granted that he came up absolutely huge in the 9th in 2 games already this season. But the reality is that other than those 2 ABs he has been absolutely horrendous. It's not just the results. The ABs he's giving are something you'd expect to see from a Rule 5 low level minors stash player.
  5. Santana hacked at 3 pitches and not a single one was a strike. Domingo, you weren't even the tying run. How guys can just go up there trying to be a hero in situations where getting on base is as good as anything else you can do is just remarkable to me.
  6. Blue expanding the strike zone on the outside corner, he's ready to go home.
  7. Classic Braun AB this year. Watch a strike, hack at a ball, watch a strike.
  8. Shaw's play was probably the turning point to be honest. If he gets an out, anywhere, there's probably not any hesitation on the next ball to Thames and they probably get out of it.
  9. That's 100% true. Yes, Barnes pitched well enough, but top closers put these guys away, and he did not. It's not his fault, but when you let the ball be put in play, things can happen.
  10. It's just classic "Brewer" baseball. That's exactly what it is, and we've done nothing over the years to shed that reputation.
  11. In your own stadium in front of all these disgusting Cub fans. Well done, guys. Pathetic.
  12. Piss poor. Embarrassing. Fundamentally putrid. Anything else?
  13. My God we play horrible defense. Wasn't that a huge emphasis of our off-season?
  14. Thanks for almost letting me see the potential winning play, FSN.
  15. Please please please get it done off Strop. He's one of those players I just have a strong irrational hate for because of his stupid looking signature crooked cap thing.
  16. I'm sorry, Eric. I owe you 72 hours without an insult. Bandy needs to score on that, but he probably thought it was going to be caught. Right call to hold him.
  17. Here's where I'd like to have Choi or Phillips to hit. We have Eric freaking Sogard instead.
  18. Let's be glad that wasn't Arcia's approach in the 9th yesterday. My God that was horrible.
  19. I would like to see them start losing one or two in the sun.
  20. Please please do not leave Drake in to face Bryant.
  21. I can't tell if Drake has been lucky or good so far.
  22. Braun getting a lot of crap in his own park and doing very little to shut them up.
  23. Probably not . I would agree that their current values are fairly similar. His defense at 2nd is below average, his range is non-existent and he's not versatile in any real way. Much is made of his 2017 season, but it wasn't THAT great. Much of his power surge can likely be attributed to GABP. I wouldn't expect him to replicate those power totals ever again. All that aside, he was only a 2.3 fWAR player, which is probably close to his ceiling, while his floor is replacement level. That's not very exciting. Don't get me wrong, he was far better than Villar in 2017 but that doesn't mean he'll be better going forward. I'd be neither excited nor disappointed if we traded Villar for Gennett.
