  1. Same here. I had no thoughts but "gone" on Shaw's and no thoughts but 'routine foul' on Villar's. Great start!
  2. Thought that shot by Shaw was gone for sure and good AB by Domingo. Gotta capitalize here.
  3. I posted something along these lines in the game thread yesterday. We seem to have a lot of good to great arms in the pen, but no real closer. I used to be more of the mindset, "Three outs is three outs, it's the same in every inning." For whatever reason, that just doesn't seem to be true to me anymore. The 9th really is a different role and mindset. I think Hader could definitely handle it but I understand that they want him in a more flexible role. I think Williams could handle it; unfortunately I just don't see Counsell having that kind of faith in him anytime soon. Albers can probably get the job done most of the time, but I still don't see him as a "closer."
  4. 9 runs in the 8th, all 9 scored with 2 out. Unreal.
  5. I never said you called him a bust or a waste of 80M. Now you're putting words in my mouth. I pointed out that it's unfair for you to call out people(s) who considered him a must have after one single start after you just recently criticized people for overreacting to one single game. If you can't see the contradiction in that and actually own it, nothing I say will change your mind. And I'm not even a huge Cobb guy. You took a clear shot at TJ based on one start and I felt that was unfair. That's all.
  6. Depends on if he gets his split change back. If he does I think he could be as much of a difference maker as any other 2018 SP free agent. For 2-3 years anyway.
  7. You said 'Zero strikeouts is definitely concerning.' After you told everyone that sweeping comments at this point either positive or negative make someone look like a fool. But fine if you want to get mad at me for pointing out the inconsistency. Anyway, after a very abbreviated spring, not too surprising that Cobb was rusty, against a good lineup to boot. Time will tell whether this was a good investment or not.
  8. You literally said this 2 weeks ago: "It's silly to draw conclusions on a player's season after 3 innings. It's silly to predict Cy Young and silly to call someone is a bust. What's so hard to understand about that? Sweeping comments dramatically positive or negative at this point make the person saying them look like a fool." I'm not saying you're wrong about Cobb and I'm not saying we will regret not getting him. But you can't tell everyone how silly it is to draw any conclusions after one game and then play the "I told you so" game after 1 game with people who wanted Cobb.
  9. I'm guessing yes. He hasn't been simply because the injuries have kept him in the OF so the easy choice has just been to play Aguilar against lefties. Agreed the OF depth has been great, but they obviously need to be better, too. They really have missed Yelcich and aside from him it's pretty much been a replacement level bunch so far.
  10. I was going to say opening day and game 2 were, but Perez was in for Villar.
  11. I know it's Wisconsin and we should expect it, but my goodness. The middle of freaking April and we get a foot of snow dumped on last night with a foot or more on top of that coming tonight. Also, this is not light, fluffy snow, it's extremely dense and heavy and difficult to remove by shovel.
  12. Cain has been fine. Some great stretches and some rough ones. Not sure what you were expecting if you think he's just looked old.
  13. This pen is Exhibit A for the concept that closing games is just an entirely different job and mindset getting those last 3 outs than it is getting outs in any other inning. This is a very good pen with a lot of good to great relievers and the numbers have reflected that. But no closer and the numbers have reflected that too. Josh Hader and Taylor Williams probably are the 2 best bets for being successful "closers" and I don't see either one of them getting the job anytime soon.
  14. Counsell lost this game in the 5th tonight when he inexplicably rolled with Davies with a high pitch count on a night that he had nothing. The result was inevitable and by the time he pulled him the damage was already done. The pen was rested and there was absolutely no reason for him to just hope to get lucky. Other than that, the little things as it almost always is with this team. Trying to go 1st to 3rd and making the 3rd out at 3rd. A wild pitch ends up being the winning run. Another night and more new ways to lose.
  15. Bandy needs to be DFA'd immediately. Lol. He's the backup catcher. I don't expect much out of him. I didn't expect him to be great, but when we traded Maldonado+ for him I thought he would be a little better than he's been. He was our opening day catcher last season.
  16. Bandy needs to be DFA'd immediately. I imagine the day is approaching fast. He had to show something with Vogt out.
  17. Bandy sucks. Will be a shame if we lose this because of how badly the 5th inning was managed.
  18. Middle infield has been a disaster aside from Arcia's glove. Hiura can't get here soon enough.
  19. Now I'm even more annoyed about Davies senselessly being sent out in the 5th again. Everyone in the state of Wisconsin knew he couldn't locate worth a damn tonight and its not like his pitch count was low.
  20. Bruce doing his best Santana impression in RF.
  21. 1) This umpire is garbage, as with most any night. 2) Hope it was worth trying to squeeze that one more inning out of Davies on a night when he clearly had nothing and you had a rested pen, Craig. You let this game get away.
  22. Not a good location to swing for Cain but can't really blame him. This ump is calling everything high.
