  1. Marlins sticking with Josh Simpson in the 11th who is arguably the worst pitcher in baseball. Should be fun.
  2. Yep, Marlins couldn’t hold it in the 10th. Onto the 11th. I may as well pay attention to that one, it’s a hell of a lot more interesting than this one.
  3. Not sure what the Phillies want, but I think the Brewers are mainly concerned with health and fatigue going into the postseason over anything else, now that they’ve clinched the bye. As they should. I think they’d prefer the 1 over the 2, as they also should.
  4. Miami rallied from 3-0 down to take a 5-3 lead over Philly in the 10th. That’s where they are now. Their games matter as much as this one, because only Brewer wins or Philly losses can reduce the magic number to the 1 seed.
  5. Yeah, if they lose tonight, which they probably will, they will be 10-10 in September. Not great, obviously. But not like choking bad. Fortunately, they gave themselves enough of a cushion in July/August to afford a mediocre September.
  6. Eh. Last seasons’ Dodgers went 16-12 in September. Nothing special. Rangers were about .500 in 2023 in September. Obviously the Brewers didn’t play well enough in 2021 in September, but I don’t know if that has anything to do with now. They need the remaining pieces of their rotation to stay healthy. They need a few guys on offense to get hot and start swinging the bat better. They really need an effective bullpen. I think those are the things that will matter, not so much what they did this month.
  7. He is striking out a LOT this year. But he’s also slugging much higher than ever before, so maybe that’s the trade off. edit: sorry, should have figured out from context that you were referring to his fielding here.
  8. At this point I am at peace with whatever happens the rest of the regular season. If we lose every game from here on out, we will probably be the #2, but not worse than that, we will still win the division and not be playing any wild card games. We will get a week off and get a 5 game NLDS series with HFA to rest up and hopefully get hot and as healthy as we can try to get. That’s all we can really ask for right now.
  9. It would be just like the sports Gods to bestow a Wisconsin sports team a regular season run like no other like our big run this summer, only to take it all away and shatter it because we are fielding a AAA team at the end of the season with all the injuries.
  10. Yeah, this Zimmerman guy looks like a keeper.
  11. It’s a step in the right direction, but I wish they’d just rip off the band-aid and fully automate. If an umpire is missing egregiously like last night and the challenges are always kept, you might see 10-15 of those awkward challenge waits in a game. Maybe that’s a good thing. A form of public humiliation for the umpires if they’re really bad at their job.
  12. I know people don’t want to hear it, but Campbell’s approach is usually right and analytically correct. People can say “he hasn’t won anything like that” but just like the Brewers haven’t won anything like that, there’s a lot of luck and circumstance involved in professional sports. It doesn’t mean the process is wrong. It means that “the way things are done” becomes an engrained part of professional sports and those traditions are incredibly hard for coaches to break away from. It wasn’t that long ago that most teams punted on 4th and 2 from the 50. It wasn’t that long ago that the smartest baseball minds in the world thought that pitcher wins and batter RBIs were very important measurements.
  13. Yeah, I still like our chances but it’s not like weeks 1-2 when we were saying “oh we should win the North.” I don’t think the Vikings and Bears will be in the mix though. May come down to the rematch in Detroit.
  14. The Lions look much better than when we faced them in Week 1.
  15. Oh, I don’t think they can do anything else at this point. They made their bed At SS with Joey. I’m just not sure he should be the 2026 plan.
  16. There are a lot of SS’s who can turn a double play. You have to be able to hit at least a little to belong in the lineup of a 1 seed playoff team.
  17. He meant 3, and then 3 more wins from the NLCS. Well played.
  18. The magic number with Philly is 3. They have the tiebreaker with Philly. At 3 Brewer wins+Philly losses, the Brewers clinch the #1 seed. edit: sorry, just saw @MadScientistexplained this above! Yes, 3 is the magic number.
  19. That 3rd and short call and pass still blows my mind. You want to convert, but punting would not have been the end of the world. Cleveland was not driving the entire length of the field. Especially getting late in the 4th where there was going to be less of a threat of the run game. The one thing they could not do was make a catastrophic mistake and turn the ball over deep in their own territory. So lo and behold, that’s exactly what they do.
  20. I concur with this. As a supposed offensive genius, his offenses continue to look discombobulated and lost year after year, moments of greatness and then moments where they seemingly can’t do anything. His clock management (remember the last Bear game with him staring at Rick B in confusion?), and in-game adjustments have always been questionable at best. He’s going to have another great regular season record because he has an elite D that he really has nothing to do with and a DC who will probably be a future HC. But I see no quality about MLF that justifies the hype and don’t see any way of stating a case for him being a great HC without citing the words “regular season record”. If that awful, awful 3rd and short call followed by “that’s on me” was a one-off, I could excuse it. But we’ve been seeing that kind of crap from MLF for years.
