  1. I can't even with the remove Knebel talk... Knebel is by far our best reliever. His stuff is that of an elite closer. He's striking out 16 per 9 innings. He is exactly the kind of pitcher you want in that role. He's blown 2 saves since taking over the role, both in 1 run leads. Both situations where he got behind in the count, and the hitter guessed right and made him pay. He's made basically 2 mistakes since taking over the role and payed for both of them. So obviously yes, he needs to be careful not to fall behind in counts. But come on. Long-term he is perfectly suited for that role and has the stuff to succeed in that role. Its not like he's walking the bases loaded and then spiking a splitter in the dirt. He's made a couple mistakes as any pitcher does and it just so happens he has paid for both. Removing him from the closer's role at this point would be a very knee jerk and irrational decision. Who do you want, anyway? Barnes? Feliz?
  2. Incredible how a player can take a called 3rd strike in a 1 run game in extras with a runner on 3rd and 1 out. Just incredible.
  3. Screw off, Arcia. You're terrible. What a waste of an evening.
  4. To be fair, it was one out, but 2 strikes when the runner got to third. It isn't like he had a full at bat with a runner on 3rd and 1 out. So he shouldn't change his approach when the runner gets to 3rd? The runner was on 3rd when he stared at strike 3, that's what matters.
  5. Runner on 3rd with 1 out and Arcia stares at it. Awesome work, Orlando.
  6. Gotta love the 'challenge ' system in MLB. Out of challenges? No problem, just ask for another! He's safe anyway.
  7. This team used up their entire year supply of 'clutch' in one game against the Mets last month. 25 Ks today. Just downright comical.
  8. Our plate approach stinks so far in extras and we get to face Jansen again.
  9. Too bad that's the last good play we'll see from this team today.
  10. Has there ever been a game in which 3 batters from the same team were honored with golden sombreros? They've already got 2, and Perez and Broxton are each a K away.
  11. Thanks, Dave Roberts. This isn't taking long enough already or anything.
  12. Please just win it here. I need to go to bed, but I'll just toss and turn in bed wondering what is happening if you don't win it first.
  13. I have no faith in Torres. Don't let that nice looking ERA fool you.
  14. It never fails. I go onto day shift where I have to get up at 5 am and we play extended extra inning games.
  15. We get to extras and it's like all plate discipline goes right out the window and they just chase everything.
  16. I'm not even advocating removing Knebel but at what point is it not okay for him to cost us games? What's your breaking point on a closer? I guess we'll never know how many Feliz would have racked up but he did come through 8 of 9 times. But there's so much more to this stat. For example -- How many of the save opportunities for Feliz were more routine 2-3 run lead save opportunities? How many of Knebel's have been 1 run leads with no margin for error? Case in point, if Knebel has even one insurance run in either of his 2 blown saves since becoming closer, he saves both of them.
