  1. It was close. No excuse for losing your composure and walking in a run on a horrible pitch. No excuses but really tired of our pitchers getting squeezed on crucial 2 strike pitches this series. Game changing squeezes 2 days in a row now by this crew.
  2. Nice job getting out of further damage, but there is no way we should be trailing this game .
  3. Wouldn't be a Brewer game within walking in a run. The wheels are falling off of Davies this inning.
  4. I'll never understand New Yorkers. Want to live in a city full of rats, crazy people and bumper to bumper traffic, ride crowded subways and overpriced taxis to take you to your 60 hour a week job so you can pay for your $3,000 dollar studio apartment? Sounds great!
  5. That's sad. Leadoff triple and you can't get him in? That's on Perez and Shaw. Poor baseball.
  6. Leaving too many runners out there today. We're one hit away from breaking this one open but we just can't seem to get it.
  7. Interesting concept because you can't defend yourself and not get ejected. I've wondered what would happen if a guy just fell to his knees and looked skyward with his eyes closed. Would the batter still throttle him? I bet not. Probably just shove him.
  8. Haha, that's genius. Have Nick Franklin lead off a game against Kershaw and tell him to charge the mound after any pitch inside.
  9. Good job by Shaw not letting them off the hook after the DP.
  10. Is this Roenicke, or Yost?
  11. I agree. I'll never hold it against someone if they make the decision to go for the most money, as that is their right, but I think most players should take it if it's offered. Villar's closest "real world" example was Lucroy, who looked to have been hurt by accepting the extension. Hopefully, Villar can be an example for next guy(s) so they will decide to take the extension. To me it's simple, and I know it's easy for me to say because I'll never be in that position. If I'm Villar, and I have that offer on the table, the opportunity is in my hands to take care of my family forever. I don't know what the future holds, even if I think I'm good, I can't be sure what will happen, and I'll always chance that an injury could change everything forever. I hope these guys who take it don't lay in bed thinking, 'Man, if I had only waited i could have earned 70M by now instead of 20M. I don't understand that. Even if they do, I'd much rather lose sleep over that than 'Wow, this baseball thing isn't working out for me, and I'm almost out of money already. I've got no professional skills or education, and I turned down 20M a year ago to play this game, what am I going to do now?' I also don't understand the 'pride' reason of why these guys turn down these deals, and we know that's a factor. They don't want to end up underpaid compared to their colleagues. My goodness, just set your family up for life,, the real pride is in taking care of them, not about worrying about what the annual salary of someone who affects your life in no way is compared to your own. Just my thoughts.
  12. Kodi may very well end up in the pen, but its not a good development plan to just move him there. He needs innings and time to work on control. If he eventually goes to the BP, I would imagine he would follow Wang's route to the pen. Some time starting at AA, then moving to the BP. Don't know why he can't work on control from the pen. Not all high leverage relievers follow the failed starter route anymore. Can't think of his name but the White Sox took a relief pitcher in the 1st round last year to groom as a closer, hasn't started a game in the minors. Probably a more comparable example to Kodi in terms of age and career path is Joe Jimenez of the Tigers who also never started and was groomed as a reliever. Guess I just don't see the point of forcing him to continue in a role that he's not going to be successful in. That seems to just risk his confidence more than anything to me.
  13. Kodi could still be an impact arm, it just won't be as a starter. He should be left in the pen and developed there.
  14. This is why I don't understand why young guys who have a breakout year, unless it's a severe lowball offer, don't take the guaranteed money when they have a chance. Worst case scenario for Villar if this whole season ends up a disaster, he could be a non-tender candidate. If that happens, he joins the Nick Franklins of the world, just trying to find work. Villar has never made over 500K or thereabouts in a season. Therefore, $20M dollars is life changing. Obviously 50M is better than 20M if you want to go for the money, but both are life changing amounts where you or your family will never have to worry about money again if you take care of it. 500K, it's a lot, but it's not lifetime security. So maybe this is just a long funk that Villar snaps out of at some point. Or maybe he really is Bill Hall 2.0. But at least Bill Hall took the money when he had a chance.
  15. I don't think Tunnell is the problem, he seems to be able to churn out pretty good closers out of whatever he is given (besides Feliz), look at what Jeffress did here and how terrible he is now. I'd say for the most part he gets what he can out of what he's given. We're 15th out of 30 in pen ERA which after losing our best relievers from last year I would say is fine. We do need to quit walking so many, certainly. Heck maybe we can get Jeffress back for next to nothing. But that'd probably be an embarrassing bullet to bite for Texas.
  16. Can't watch, Gameday showed them as very borderline. Wouldn't surprise me, CB Buckner is the absolute worst and the textbook example for a need for machines to call balls and strikes. But yeah, that's a terrible move by Collins and Scahill makes him look like a genius. Should have never even gotten to 2-2. It's a weak hitting pitcher . Throw strikes.
  17. Scahill should be sent back to AAA just for that . Awful. Aren't you here because you can supposedly throw strikes? Unforgivable.
  18. Was it? Ueck thought it was a ground rule double for a minute. :/
  19. I guess this is what we get for all our talk about how awful Gsellman is. EDIT: As I type this Domingo goes yard, LOL.
  20. Maybe they can piggyback Garza and Peralta and be on to something.
  21. Well, could have been worse. If we're going to come back down 2 this is the right pitching staff for the task.
  22. How do you have any idea what Thames medical condition is? While not perfect, I will trust the Brewers medical staff over random fan forum posters. Perhaps because he's left games or sat out games with minor injuries several times in the last month? One does not really need an MD to see that he's probably not playing 100%. He's also on the wrong side of 30 and averaged closer to 130 games a year in Korea. I never said he CAN'T play right now, if he's playing he's obviously physically able to play, the point is that a rest could help him get closer to 100%, get him back when he can be more effective again, and give one of the numerous promising prospects a shot in LF at a time when we really don't even have a single LFer on the roster. The whole point of the 10 Day DL vs the old 15 Day is to make it more advantageous to teams to DL guys with short term injuries, not have to force them back into action too soon or lose them for longer than you need to, and not have to play with short rosters. I agree with Brew that we're not taking advantage of it effectively.
  23. Isan Diaz is really scuttling. 11 Ks today just between Diaz, Ray, Erceg, Gatewood and Clark. Yuck. That team should be better than it is
