  1. Aguilar might as well have a grand piano strapped to his back when he runs.
  2. I wouldn't be hurt by it. There are some relievers knocking on the door in AAA like Wang, Blazek, and Cravy. Even if they don't promote any of them, you'd have to think they need to clear some space eventually for Woodruff and Hader this season.
  3. As long as we can count on Knebel for 2 innings every single game of the season our pen should be just fine.
  4. I think it's Torres, not that any of he, Peralta, Marinez or Barnes are deserving of it tonight.
  5. You know, I'm not asking for a lot here. Not asking for the best bullpen in baseball. Just one that I can think, 'You know what, I may as well go to bed, they got this,' when they have an 11-5 lead in the 8th.
  6. So yeah, maybe let's not give up on Keon quite yet .
  7. I like how they have to have 2 versions of that Uecker Usinger commercial. Like one isn't enough.
  8. Now that one I will call Villar a knucklehead for. Terrible mistake.
  9. I mean you'd still like to see him get that OPS up in the. 700 range or so. But he'll be fine IMO.
  10. Can't believe Santana doesn't wind up with a double on that.
  11. It was a pretty hard hit ball, but I thought he'd make it to 3rd on it as well.
  12. Not incredibly optimistic that 6 runs is enough to win this game with our pen.
  13. Pretty much was guaranteed to be 6-4 or worse the minute Torres came into the game. Lucky it wasn't worse. Can't wait to get guys like Hader, Woodruff, and Lopez up. Maybe we can try Peralta and Nelson in the pen and take out the trash on some of these bad relievers.
  14. Get Wily out before he ends up blowing this game.
  15. Khris Davis flashbacks on that throw in from Braun.
  16. No, it's a terrible idea. Especially with Braun at the plate. Even more, I hate the way it seems to be tolerated. You only need a 69% success rate stealing 3rd with 1 out to break even, so it is not a terrible idea. Villar in his career steals 3rd base at 80% (28/35) Thank you. Obviously he didn't execute it well at all. But it's not a horrible idea to try once in awhile. If there had been 2 out, much different situation.
  17. Not sure why Counsell didn't challenge that. Sure looked like he missed the tag to me.
  18. No, it's a terrible idea. Especially with Braun at the plate. Even more, I hate the way it seems to be tolerated. Thames and Braun come up after Villar. Trying to steal with Thames up is no better if not worse. Do you want him to just never steal anymore, or what? You get a guy on 3rd, a fly ball drives him in. Maybe the infield has to come in, and it results in a hit like the one Arcia just got. You don't do it every night but picking your spots with them is fine. Obviously you have to execute better than he did. But it's not just this incredible stupid play like some are making it out to be. If he gets in to 3rd easily no one says a thing.
  19. Trying to steal 3rd with one out is not the end of the world. With 2 out it's much worse. We make such a huge deal every time Villar gets caught stealing but probably wouldn't have said much it it was anyone else. You certainly don't want to make a habit of it but a runner on 3rd with one out has a lot more advantages than being on 2nd. Execution wise it was a bad play, bad jump, but if you can get a good one it's not a terrible idea.
  20. I really wish the DH was in the NL. Would solve most of this.
  21. Can Colorado Springs get through one week without a rainout?
  22. People were all over Aguilar too the last couple weeks. But suddenly he's up to .763 OPS. That's the way it is with bench guys. Franklin could have a couple big games too. If he stays this bad, well yea you make a change but not after 40 ABs. I will say this. Once this team starts competing, the Franklins and Milones of the world are going to have a shorter leash. But this year, let's see what guys like Franklin and Aguilar can do. We may not agree they should be on the roster, but now that they are give them a real chance. I mean, to be fair, Milone was given an awfully short leash, lol. If we're willing to can a pitcher after 21 innings it's probably not unfair to at least discuss replacing bench guys after slow starts .
  23. There was a pretty big disparity between Baseball Reference last year which had him at 4.5, and Fangraphs which had him at 3.2. Still a valuable player either way but a big difference. This year it's the opposite, Fangraphs has him at 0.5 so far and Baseball Reference just 0.2. At his age and with his frequent injury issues, if he can be a 3 WAR player this year and average 2.5 for the rest of his contract I'll be very happy with that.
