  1. I've had my doubts that he can get on base, because he never really has. If he can develop that part of his game he can be a very valuable player and Shaw/Perez will make a heck of a 3B combo .
  2. Aguilar plummeted down to a .626 OPS. Just kind of a matter of time to see if him or Franklin gets shown the door first.
  3. Ugh, I hate pulling Thames now. Don't get me wrong - I get it. But I still hate it.
  4. So Thames has 2 WAR so far which is worth $16M on the market. So if anyone mentions it's early, which it is, to put it in perspective, if Eric Thames never played another inning for the Brewers, he would have already been worth his entire $16M. It's April 25th of his first season here. Just incredible.
  5. Schebler making Santana look like a gold glover out there this inning.
  6. I thought so too in real time. Just missed it. Still good to see from him.
  7. Yeah, Reed and Wren are worth next to nothing. If they want to sell one that's fine with me but it'll be a classic 'PTBNL or cash considerations' deal.
  8. I heard it when I was a kid.....about 40 years ago. Somebody needs to tell him that just saying "the 1-1 pitch" or even just forgetting about mentioning the count at all is just fine. Now he has me noticing everything he says....just said " the payoff pitch 3 times in a row" Come home soon, BA (at least I miss him, anyway.)
  9. I know I'm going to jinx him by saying this, but does it seem to anyone else like Villar's D at 2nd has actually been not only passable since the first week but actually really solid?
  10. Impressive. Especially when you consider Phillips could have easily been included on the list too.
  11. Does LePay think 'breakeven pitch ' is an actual used baseball expression.?
  12. Barnhart has a pretty weak case. It was borderline , could have been called either way. With runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out, better swing.
  13. I have no idea why Bellinger getting promoted would be any indication whatsoever of LA's interest level in Braun. Bellinger is likely LAs 1B of the future, not OF . Bellinger was never on the table for Braun, and it's not surprising they would want to see what they have internally before giving up anything substantial for a veteran. Maybe Bellinger rakes from the start and LA never looks back, or maybe he struggles Joey Gallo style and is back down in 3 weeks and LA is back to other options. This doesn't tell us anything more than the Dodgers want to give Cody Bellinger a shot in MLB right now to see what he can do.
  14. 'Coming on' is relative. If you're a great defensive CF like Broxton, you can get away with a .750 OPS easily. If you're a poor fielding corner outfielder, you better rake.
  15. Thing is now, unless he's traded, Thames looks pretty locked in at 1st for the next 4 years. Santana looks like a prime young trade candidate to me. Someone you hope goes on a nice little run and you get someone to jump on his youth and upside and pay you a decent return, like Jean Segura.
  16. Not anytime soon. If anyone goes it'll probably be Aguilar who has been struggling just as much.
  17. How about Brett Phillips? Pretty much forgotten by every prospect list out there, showing so far this year that he is still very much a relevant part of the Brewers future outfield. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in Milwaukee this summer.
  18. Runner at 3rd because of an error with nobody out and he gets two strikeouts and a ground out. Kind of hard to go deep into games with three errors behind you in the first four innings. Except that neither error in the first 2 innings put a single extra pitch on Garza's arm. Both stealing/pickoff errors on guys that were already on. The one on Arcia did but that doesn't mean he's totally unaccountable for giving up a dinger right after or that that's the sole reason he only went 4. 3 walks in 4 innings also did not help.
  19. One start doesn't really bother me, it's more of the last 2 seasons which tell us he isn't a very good pitcher anymore. He should be better than 2015, I guess, but at the end of the day his upside is just more crap on the Nelson/Peralta pile. The days of hoping he salvages anything resembling a trade value are over.
  20. Hamilton is so fast. Too bad for the Reds that he sucks at everything else.
